I don't think Anders earring was dangly enough to cause attention.

One of my cats is a toe-biter. He also goes for noses or any other thing he can get between his teeth. Fiance thinks it's a sign of affection, but I just thinks he wants you to wake up and pet him. Once, fiance was taking a nap on the sofa without any clothing on and you can probably guess where he got bitten. I heard the shriek outside. Which is why I made the observation about how unwise it is to go au natural around kitties.

In other news, I think Anders sold his earing and armbands to pay for his passage to Kirkwall.

This pic makes me so happy. I don't know when in the game it could possibly occur, but I love it still. I imagine it to be drunk Isabela leading Anders off to go look at hats.

That, or refugees stole them off of him in his sleep ;)

I'm really glad every time I hear they we aren't going to be stuck with all new companions every expansion. I mean, don't get my wrong, I'm all for some new companions, especially if they help us move in to DA3 (like Anders, natch), but I've grown to love these guys, and I want to see more of them.

Also agreed about Awakening and the LI. Zevran and Warden!Alistair made so little sense it boggles the mind - why wouldn't they be there? Grr. They could have at least given some sort of throwaway explanation.

That's exactly what they did.

Zev was off in Antiva, killing his way to the top of the Crows.

On his own.

As for Anders getting his earring nibbled off...owwwwww. I guess it could be a legitimate reason for leaving Pounce behi--naaah, who am I kidding?

Ah alright, I'll admit I've only played Awakening once with Grey Warden Alistair as the love interest, never Zevran. I'll also admit they may have said something about GW Alistair too and I've just forgotten.

Well, whatever, they still don't make sense. If they never wanted them there they never should have implied they would be there in the first place /harrumph.

Zevran is off killing crows, Warden!Alistair is off explaining wtf happened durring the blight to them folks in the Anders while you're sorting out Vigil's Keep (since, yanno, he's technically your senior warden, even if he did let you lead the charge, etc etc) and Leliana is in Orlais, talking with Justinina.. aka whats-her-face-who-saved-her-from-imprisonment ;p

Alistair shows up for a scene if he's king.

The earring seems too flashy for Anders as he is in DA2. If he didn't sell them off for food or passage money, I wouldn't be entirely surprised if he just forgot to put them on one morning or left them behind on purpose.

It is just. My Surana wanted to help him with the killing of the crows - certainly not doing let him do it alone. I know she ditched the wardens after awakening to do that, but I don't think she would have left for Amarinthe in the first place if that is what he was doing. On that note - fix the import bug Bioware, grrr!

As for Alistar that makes zero sense. I mean really no sense.

They're not going to fix it, its Origins side, and they're not working on Origins anymore. The best you can hope for is for someone with mod skills to try and fix it Origins side :P

They claims to be working on some solution that will not demand that we don't go back and play origins to fix all the import bugs - not just the romance ones. I think the architect falls under that cathegory.
How they plan to do it, I don't know, but they claims to be working on something.

I'm still holding out hope for that, however slim it may be.

Otherwise, my only imported Wardens (out of a total of 6) will be my Morrigan-mancing M!Amell and my princess consort F!Cousland.

Oh wait...my dead F!Brosca *could* qualify if I use the save editor X_X

It's just really frustrating to have the Warden shortchanged like that. I would've been perfectly content if they'd just not referred to her/him ever again and not brought any of the old companions back (or at least, not the romanceable ones). Now, it sort of feels like half-assed fanservice: "here ya go, you've got 'em back, they're just a bit broken, big deal". If it's not possible to implement correctly, just don't do it. Or better yet: give us the tools to fix it! There are plenty of people out there itching for a toolkit.

*le sigh*

It's too bad Warden Alistair doesn't send a letter like Zev or Leliana do. Weird. I'm happy that Nate no longer thinks I let the Architect live even though I stabbity-stabbed him.

I kind of miss the earring. About to head off to the creepy Blackmarsh to pick up Justice with Oghren, Nate, and Anders. Velanna gets to stay in the Keep. FOREVER.

I wish I had anything to say about Anders right now. Work has me all whirlyheaded and I feel like I hardly have two brain cells to rub together. But I do have more lovely Anders art!

We once let a mother cat come in and have her kittens in our house. They set up house in my bedroom, and when the kittens were of the tumbling and pouncing age, I was often woken up to find 5 little bundles of fur and teeth attacking my toes and brawling and tumbling on my head. And no sooner did I shoo them away, 5 minutes later, they  lol'd at my shouting and went on the offensive once again.

<<<<still pissed off that Hawke has not hooked Anders up with kittens, so he, too, could wake up every morning and get his toes, piericings, and other bits chewed off.:wub::wub::wub::wub:

Woohoo! Disclaimer jokes for at least two chapters! Thanks!

Out of idle speculation (and no, this will probably never wind up in a fanfic), what do you think Anders orders when Varric buys his drink? Do you think he drinks ale? Lemonade? How about the others?

I figure that Varric drinks ale because it's a sociable drink that doesn't hit too hard or too fast and would let him keep telling stories all night without getting bombed. Isabela is easy. She's a whiskey drinker. Fenris drinks wine, of course. Merrill probably doesn't drink at all, but if she did, I could see her ordering something that comes with an umbrella in it and asking everyone else why her drink was afraid to get wet. Carver drinks ale, for the most part, although if somebody else is buying, he'll drink whatever they are. No idea what bethany would drink. Aveline, believe it or not, is a whiskey drinker.

You know what? In my head, Varric doesn't drink much at all. He pretends to drink, maybe, but there's just something about him that makes me feel like he'd not want to be compromised. I came to this conclusion after reading his Codex entry (his mother was an alcoholic and he took care of her until he died) and decided that Mary's short story, in which he claims to never drink anything at the Hanged Man, confirms it.

As for Anders, probably the weakest drinks they have. I always assume Wardens are thirsty folk, and he'd need to balance that with Justice's insistence that they not get drunk.

I'd actually like to be able to tackle Anders, tie him down to a chair, and forcibly get him drunk via an epic beer bonging session. And then antagonize him a nit and see what Justice is like drunk.

Really, that's something that's a serious missed opportunity for the Circles and Chantry: studying the effects of intoxication of Fade spirits and possessions. I mean, just think of the possibilities of getting a pride demon drunk.....:wizard::o

Yeah, I get the feeling that Varric doesn't drink anywhere near as much as he wants people to think he does, as well. Mary's short story aside, Hawke buys him a drink before Varric's Act 2 quest (don't remember the name) and teases him about his alcohol consumption several times, to which he never offers even the slightest protest. That leads me to think that Varric simulates drinking, taking tiny sips. He's too good a host to make Hawke and friends uncomfortable by teetotaling while they're getting rowdy, but he doesn't want to get sloppy himself.

Not sure if any of the companions would be completely abstemious. Before modern plumbing made drinking water more-or-less universally safe, people of all ages drank weak beer or ale at every meal, including breakfast. Water is boiled as part of the brewing process, so it was a lot safer than plain water. It was usually drunk within a few days or a week of brewing so the alcohol content was probably only around 1-2%. Anyway, enough from the food historian.

I like Ander's romance. It does get too dramatic at a couple parts - "drown in us in blood" "want you here till the die we die," but other than that it feels like a legitimate romance (by DA2 standards, anyway). I did this as male Hawke on the friendship path, I'm not sure how it different it is for female Hawke or rivalry path.

My favourite detail about that pic Surely posted are the fiery footprints behind Anders. And of course, the rest of it is lovely.

Drunk pride demon + lampshade = Posted Image

I'd agree both that Varric doesn't drink as much as he seems to and that most of the other companions drink as well. With the proviso that Merrill probably gets drunk after half a glass, and that Sebastian probably only drinks the absolute weakest of ales.

At first, I wanted to do an Awakening playthrough where everyone lived. So I grit my teeth, left Anders, Nate and Oghren back at the Keep (fully upgraded of course), and took Velanna, Sigrun and Justice with me to save Amaranthine, figuring that "hey, I can come back to the Keep to change my team before going after the Architect".

Then I couldn't.

So I thought "maybe if Velanna gets to see her sister and the Architect in action, she'll finally see reason?"

Then she didn't.

I reloaded my pre-Amaranthine save and swapped her out for Anders. Posted Image

I did take time to figure out what she was about. I trundled around the world map until I got her companion quest. I talked to her, I gave her her plot gifts. I can see where she's coming from. But that was just the last straw.

In hindsight, I probably could've left Justice behind instead. It's not like Kristoff getting beheaded really hinders him or anything...

The most notable difference between the male and female romances is probably that Anders never mentions a previous involvement with Karl (or any other man) around LadyHawke.

As for the rivalry romance, I haven't done it myself, but from what I hear...it ain't pretty. It basically involves breaking Anders more.

You coulda done what I did in my Human Noble and my Human Mage PT's of Awakening, and just sacked the ****ing city. Anders sounds SO releaved when Elissa and Alicia both showed up to save the day. And, I love how Nate's all ".... **** the city, if the guard itself says its beyond saving, and the keep's not beyond saving, lets burn this mother ****er and go save our army"

To which both my human girls were all "... you know what? I'm sick of throwing my people at a problem that could have been prevented if they had just listened to be in the first place. I hate this city. ****'m"  Especially so for my cousland, who utterlly disliked any of the Howe-loyalists that were trying to sabotage her in the first place. My Amell.. well, she was unstable to begin with, a blood mage.. and had a sky-high anders crush ;x

Neither my dailish nor my city elf could do it.. but then, elves are crazier in ways that could never be explained ;x My Dalish and Velanna were sisters, my City elf and Velanna were "love to hates", and my humans were like "..... I, just don't understand you..."

There was really no hate involved ;x
