Actually, I like some of the clothing mods. Not the half-nude ones for DA2 (and while I adore that hat, I don't know if I want to strip down my mage to wear it). I like mods like Leap of Fate and Blood Dragon No-Glow and Vow of Pride. As for faces, I use a mod to make Anders's stubble lighter. And I use an Alistair face morph to make him look like he didn't eat every pie in Ferelden. And when I run a blond or red-haired Hawke, I use a mod to change the sibling haircolor because I like everybody to match. And some Hawke appearance mods. Yeah, I guess do mod the hell out of the game.

As for the "Pretty Face Morph" mods, there have been some that make me wonder if the modder has ever seen a human before. And that goes for both Origins and DA2.

For ToP, have Alternative "Sexy" Anders. It's sexy.


OK, that isn't my real ToP. This is. Guaranteed 100% Sexy Anders.

Damn, the one you posted is practically *tame* compared to some of the others I saw (probably because it just made him look like a completely different person)...and that's saying a lot. The majority of them are like 'LOL GAIZ, I MADE ANDERS LOOK BETTAR!' and it looks like someone took a knife and ****ed his entire face up. Makes him look nothing like the original Anders at all..(and yeah it looks like they have no idea how to design an actual human face lol) Idk, man...I can't STAND face mods. All of them are just terrible looking to me, even if you change minute things I notice it and it annoys the hell out of me. (there's one that is like "lol lets change Isabela's eyebrows"...wtf? Why is this necessary???) But I have seen waaaaayyy too many of the Anders ones, and without a doubt I refuse to see changes made to his face...< is a purist lol.

I don't know if I would go that far. Somebody put some serious time and effort into them, and it seems rude to condemn them entirely. OK, yukidama has posted some doozies, and I may never forgive him for it (I think yukidama is a guy; apologies if I'm wrong). But for most of them, the main problem they suffer is that they just aren't Anders.

As for the "My pretty Warden/Hawke" mods, all I can say is that standards of beauty change. What my generation considered attractive might now be considered "classic" good looks, or it might be ridiculed as ugly. Most people my age would call unmodified Morrigan a goddess, but I don't know how many times I've heard people describe her as ugly. So maybe "cutie rogue" really is cute, it's just that my tastes are past their sell-by date.

That's what I mean though. To me, they all look terrible because they just aren't Anders. But I say that too because in general the altered cheeks/chin end up looking really off to me. It's the same thing for other face mods I've seen too...half the time I am wondering why in the world they thought this looked better than the original. Lol, maybe I'm just mean. But plenty of people like those mods and download them so I think they can handle at least 1 person saying it looks terrible...which, it does to me.

Meeeeh, idk...I mean I don't know how old you are but like to me, Morrigan looks GREAT in DA:O. Her trailer version is a little weird to me since it's really drastically different from her appearance in game, and I prefer the in game look since it looks more like the concept art as well. Leliana in that trailer I think looks better than she does in the game though. I have seen some really messed up Morrigan face mods, that turned her into a pin-up barbie doll bimbo and I am sitting there wondering who in their right mind would go so far to not only change the character's appearance...but making someone like Morrigan look like an 18 year old schoolgirl bimbo. I'm good with condemning most of these mods...lol, but I'm rude and just don't care.

Meh, DA2 zev wasn't like *terrible* I thought...it was different definitely but the thing I honestly didn't get is why they decided to make him...not tan...anymore. That was probably their worst mistake. It made no sense to me why he was suddenly so white...and it just didn't look good. >.>

I miss the old Anders from Awakening. He lost his charm in DA2 but even so sometimes his old self would come out. I haven't finished the game, i'm about 2 thirds in, but i'd love to get Justice out of Anders once and for all (i hoped that that character had gone after Awakening). Maybe later? DA3 or in dlc?

This is why I have 4 mods for Origins, one of them is the knock mod, one is the hair mod, One is the no-hat mod, and one is the no fade mod.


for DA2 I have one mod. ONE. And its so I can unlock preset Hawke for her hair ;p

That particular pack has a few of armor pieces/outfits, such as the one my avi is wearing, that look quite nice, without showing bare ass or ******.  The important thing for me is the couple of outfits that make acceptable alternatives to ingame robes.

I have tons of mods, mostly bug fixes, newer weapon/armor models, gameplay tweakes, and a couple of basic CC mods. Well for DAO at least.

Pretty much this. I've gone through Origins and DA2 sections at the nexus, and get a headache looking at all the companion and PC morphs, because it's clear my standards of beauty/attractiveness are very different. I don't mod any companion's appearance, except leliana's. But I've never seen a Morrigan, Alistair, or Zevran morph that I felt were attractive, or even looked better than the vanilla ones.

Oh mods... I love them and hate them.

I have a TON of mods for DA:O... I won't even go into it, but character mods, gameplay mods, tweaks, fixes, alternate items, etc.

In DA2 I basically have a few weapon skin mods, some cosmetic fixes (like hair tint fix and specular lighting fix), extra armors. As far as character mods... not really. I once used an Anders mod that slightly changed him (to look more like Awakening and lighten the facial hair).. Yes, Maker strike me dead! ... but it was actually this thread that put me on the bandwagon to Anders purist. I had to put in an Alistair mod too.. the DA2 Alistair made me die a little inside. Still, I found one that was true to form.

I won't ever understand changing a characters appearance so dramatically that you don't recognize them anymore from the original. Some of those Anders ones I just go "Who is that guy?!" Just like some of the Merrill and Isabela and *takes a swig of pre-emptive brain bleach* Fenris ones. They change the character so drastically I can't fathom it.

The nudies thing, I just LOL. Nudie patches and all kinds of mess have been in games since like the beginning of time. It's the first thing people mod I think -- Awesome game -- I WANNA SEE TATAS! LMAO. Never cared or been a fan, but it's their game, let them do whatever. I will sit happily in my non-****** wagging zone.

I'm just glad there are decent mods out there and people who strive to really make fixes and implement good changes to the game to make it look and play better. People will always have their own personal taste as far as attractiveness, but I think the characters were designed a certain way for a reason and to completely redesign them is to change something fundamental about them. I don't like it.

I actually DL'd Ishmael's compaion armor mod, but.. I coudln't install it. I kept staring at the walkthrough and it kept saying it would possibly break my mid-way and act three games.. and to fix them I'd need to download another mod and i was like ".....eeeeeh" and tucked it away in a folder should I ever decide I want to go through with it later ;p


Bere! how does that last armor mod, the Vow of Pride or w/e compair to the dlc armors? Because the new item pack is awesome.. but the mage set looks HORRIBLE.

It looks good, but I'm a stats-purest/comp-purest. Which is why as a mage I bring Anders, a rogue, and Fenris/Aveline quest depending, and as a rogue I go Anders, beth/merill and Fenris/Aveline quest depending..

and as a Warrior i go Anders, Fenris, and Rogue.. because lets be honest here, the only time I ever swap fenris out is if I need Aveline for  a quest. ;p

I don't worry too much about item stats. When I'm playing for the sake of playing, I play on hard, not nightmare, so the stat bonuses (with the exception of elemental resistances) are trivial. When I play for the sake of fanfic footage, I play on casual because I just want the combat to end as quickly as possible. And then, it doesn't matter at all what the item stats are like because everybody is wearing their canon outfits anyway.

I have seen one that turns her into a morrigan look a like. I didn't know how to react. I think that mods that change characters look are a crime against said character. Clothes I can live with, but anything that change skin/hair/muscles... It is just wrong.

The funny thing is my husband said..he would have LOVED to have been able to romance Aveline. 

He hates Merrill and Isabela was only interesting enough for one playthrough.

I loved Aveline as soon as I saw her concept art. She may not have quite the traditional feminine beauty, but I still think she is beautiful. My only consolation is that I love her with Donnic so much that I don't bemoan losing the chance at having a romance with her... much. Didn't stop my rogue from hitting on her every chance he got.

Oh yes, and having Anders helps. Hard to regret not getting one romance when I am constantly replaying another.

I actually haven't played on nightmare yet. I'm not a big fan of friendly fire, personally.. hard is all the difficulty I need, just enough to make things challanging with out being so hard I loathe combat ;p Besides, as a mage I -like- big flashy AoE.



as for the mods comment with the characters looking how they were meant to look --- I just do not understand why anyone would change the way a canon character looks. Mod hawke all the way to heck and back if you'd like, but don't ruin perfectly wonderful well developed characters.

Aveline is SUPOSED to be "non-typical feminin beauty". She's like... Brianna of Tarth! (Yea, SOIF is in my current reading rotation XD). Pretty is in he eye of the beholder, and Aveline is stunning and strong!

I hate FF especially since my favorite thing to play is mage. Plus I like to put Tempest and a Fire spell on Anders. I can't see it going well for us, lol.

There is a mod that takes out the FF aspect, and I've played nightmare mode but after 6 PT I end up just going to normal so it isn't so cumbersome to fight.

Supposedly they want to make battles more like Cory where you have to rely on positioning and tactics. Not sure how I feel about that, lol.

If you were really into ASoIaF you'd know it's Brienne, not Brianna! (I'm just teasing, and I had to google to make sure I wasn't making a mistake myself. Also, she's my third or fourth favorite character.)

I like Aveline as well. I remember there was a comic a while ago where Aveline and Varric went to join the unromanceable club, and people were shocked that two companions who were so attractive could end up there.

I think Aveline looks like a female warrior, or at least like the archtypical one. That said, the best female fighter I ever met was tall and lanky, with very subtle curves, mostly straight lines. She had a fairly feminine face, except that her features were more distinct than most girls: stronger nose, sharper cheekbones, large, bright eyes. She had dirty blonde hair with a nice natural tan. When we would fight, the sensei would often have to yell at us to take it down a notch (I wasn't great... I'm short with terrible reach and poor depth perception, but as soon as I feel even a little pain I get vicious... strong and fast. And you do not want to try to grapple me. /cough)

Still, that was all hand-to-hand. The best female heavy weapons fighter I know reminds me of a combination of Aveline, Marigold from Questionable Content, and Brienne from ASoIaF. So yeah, the archetype is pretty solid, I think.

The best sword-and-dagger fencer I ever knew was a girl who was essentially a female Jaime Lannister, but with straight hair rather than curly. Wow, I've known a boatload of female fighters, and I'm not even IN the SCA!

(As for where I am: just moved to California, getting internet through my phone, unpacking, getting ready for new job on Tuesday. Eeeeeee.)

Woman who worked security at the campus I did grounds keeping at seriously reminded me of Aveline.

Her arms were literally almost the size of her legs.
Best person at doing take downs in the entire security team.
Quite a handsome lady though I must say.
