Haha, exactly, otherwise I'd have lost mine to horseriding! o_O I never understand the obsession with the hymen...

Nah, it's really not that much bother to unwind a few bandages/strips of cloth everytime you undress; and considering one of them looks like it is holding his boot together and up at the same time, I'd say it's the quicker, easier option to sewing, especially for leather. I'd go with it anyway as, yes, it looks cooler

I'm of the opinion that anything the person wasn't born with can be healed, how well/completely depending on the healer's ability and the general health and lifestyle of the patient prior to and after healing.

As for the healing thing. Didn't this come up before? -- I'm thinking the way it works is that it can restore people to a certain "normal anatomy," but it can't necessarily repair defects or things people are born with. I'm also inclined to side with berelinde in that if the injury is already healed and become a part of the "normal anatomy" of a person like a scar or a healed injury it would not be "heal-able" at that point. So, no I don't believe that magic can reverse something like that unless the healer caught it before it was healed completely.
As for the school of offensive magic causing inner damage.. yeah... blood magic, some spirit magic, these things do exist. If there is a school to repair/heal there is likely a school to destroy/damage.
I missed that debate... and flaunted my total lack of DA lore knowledge. I knew I should have taken a closer look even at those spells I don't normally use. I'm just too much into elemental-boom-let's-blast-everything-to-smithereens...

Modern medicine can "fix" "lost" virginity with a little surgical operation, so why not Anders, with healing magic to make the hymen grow back from the surrounding tissues. Isn't there a spell that kinda grows cancerous stuff on the target? Cancer is just cell growth gone wild, to simplify to the extremes. Or if there isn't a spell like that, then I'm thinking another game. Boohoo, four months without DA, can't recall all these details...
But anyway, if that (growing new tissue with a hostile spell) is possible then it should be possible, in theory, to grow tissue for a benign purpose as well. Just think of the possibilities that line of thought offers! No wonder the Mage Circles are all over each other, if they can improve what nature gave them...

And THIS is why mages need to be locked up in the circle. So sorry Anders, but I just changed my mind.

I'd say this is why mages should clearly be allowed out of the Circles. The world needs more sparklefingers and magically endowed mages.

But really, not unless the whole social fabric of Thedas is based around how well endowed a person is. And if that was the case, I would suspect more people would be scrambling to, er, submit to the Qun. Or, at the very least, Anders should have had a very different focus in his manifesto on why mages should be free. Oh, and I suspect Isabela would have wanted to illustrate it.

I really shouldn't check this thread at work. The unexplainable laughter rising from my cubicle has been remarked upon.

Anders could also supplement his free clinic with some plastic surgery on the side. Magic breast implants! The possibilites are endless, really.

Has anyone noticed that when you have Sebastian and Anders in the party that Sebastian constantly looks at Anders and not Hawke? The only time he wasn't looking at Anders is when Anders ended up behind him. Fascinating.
YOu know there's a dialog where Anders accuses him of that?
Just goes to show, just because you're paranoid, doesn't mean you're not being followed.

Sex morals is a non negligible factor in determining the social order and maintaining the social fabric. Now if mages would be let loose to "determine" potency and fertility (positive endowment implies that there is also the possibility of negative endowment)... I think that would surely have... repercussions?

And then Seb insists that he was looking at the clouds and claims one looks like a bunny rabbit.
The most paranoid dialogue is when Anders and Merrill are talking in Hawke's house and Anders thinks they could be seen through the window. Which has curtains. And they're both standing on the second floor. Ooookay.
Anders: (paraphrased) Do you have any idea what would happen if they saw two apostates talking?
Merrill:

For me, the answer is pretty much"all of them," and from there on out, it becomes a question of which one I enjoy playing the most. I know that most folks seem to like sarcastic Hawke with Anders, but are there any matches that you've made that are outside your usual playing style? I'm talking about something you'd actually play here, not "Well, if I can ever get past the first ten minutes with ultra-diplo M!Hawke, he's the one I'm saving for Anders." Because creating a Hawke you loathe simply to romance a character isn't going to end well no matter who you romance.
The "odd bird" for me was probably a sarcastic male warrior Hawke (templar specs) who rivaled Anders and sided with the mages at the end.
Edit: And that's different from my "favorite" Anders Hawke, who's a diplo/sarcastic mage with a very different attitude toward the guy.

Heiden's giggles about M!Hawke/Anders and a vaguely similar discussion on the Fenris thread got me thinking about what kind of Hawke people like for Anders.

Interesting question!
This might seem strange, but I don't really like mage Hawkes (sarcastic, diplomatic, whatever) for Anders. Which doesn't mean that my current mage f!Hawke won't end up with Anders. I just don't think it's too... healthy? Sure, Anders is always bonkers, no matter what. But I feel that being romantically involved with a non-mage can only do Anders good, in terms of sanity. I'm always a little afraid that he might get even more obsessed with the whole issue than he is anyway. He might end up believing in mage superiority and despise every non-mage. Sometimes he seems very close to displaying such an attitude. Loving a non-mage Hawke, especially one on the friendship path which convinces him that not every non-mage is necessarily also anti-mage, "grounds" Anders.
And that's why my favourite Hawke for Anders is sarcastic rogue Hawke. He doesn't go along with everything Anders wants, but can function as an opposite pole for Anders when needed. And he is cheerful enough to help lift Anders' spirits when he is at his most depressed and fanatical.
