Wow, Arquen, you really know thisthread quite well, you knew what would happen before it did... I don't, and see what I've done :(

Damnit and now my internet connection isn't working and I will post this when the discussion has gone somewhere else completely. Not my day I guess.

Heidenreich wrote...

*gives berelinde a hug* It's okay, she's not actually bashing Anders at all. She's actually contemplating him. Which is good.

Thanks, Heidenreich... exactely that. But I left the house after I had posted with no internet access for the rest of the day, and had no way to clarify what I meant.

berelinde wrote...

You see it that way. You cannot speakfor everyone.

I never intended to do any such thing.I accept and respect your opinion.

I thought it was understood that there can be no real Anders bashing in this thread, that all the Anders haters understood this and let us be in peace at least here ... I'm really sorry if you perceived what I wrote as Anders  bashing. It was never intended as such....I couldn't even do „real“ Anders bashing. I just couldn't. I love this guy, insanely and madly. Damnit, he's the one who made me post on BSN (He is also the one who got me back to drawing, which I hadn't done in five years, but that's beside the point here). I've always been a lurker, and usually that was just what I needed. But this time it's different. This time the obsession got so overwhelming that I would probably have exploded if I hadn't been able to discuss Anders and actively engage in my obsession.

This is the Anders thread, and I verily agree that there is already too much Anders bashing going on everywhere else. To be honest, this is something which really offended and appalled me in the beginning. When I had just „joined the fandom“, I felt the wave of Anders hate overwhelming, and I was so disappointed and sad, why did everybody apparently not see what I did? I could almost not bear it... but then I came here, and it has been my „safe haven“ ever since. I'd like to keep it that way, too.

All I was trying to do was coming to terms with my own ambigiousness with regards to Anders. I hold him so dear, and yet at times I find it hard to explain to myself just how this can be. He does so many things that hurt me,  because they hurt people I like. It doesn't matter that Fenris does the same thing if given the chance, because I  tried to make a point about Anders, not Fenris. If I did, I would be quick to admit that Fenris is just as much of a jerkface... Anders does things that I never thought I could understand, let alone defend. And yet here I find myself forgiving and forgetting everything in a blink of an eye, and I just wonder how such a thing is even possible.

Arquen wrote...

As for why you like him. Because he challenges you. He challenges everyone he meets. He is a puzzle. An enigma. Without a solution. His tragedy, his personality, his very nature is something that is contradictory and at odds with itself. Also, because I think all Anders fans are slightly crazy. I don't think you can be an Anders fan and not be one fry short of a Happy Meal. LOL.

In need to think this through... maybe it is some kind of an answer. Maybe the answer starts from here. And sure, I'll readily agree that mybe we're all a little crazy. That's the little bit of „Anders“ inside of all of us, and maybe this faint likeness is what draws us to him?

Sorry, one more question... When/how do we get the convo with Justice? I think I'm out of dialogue with Anders for Act II, making sure I didn't miss something.

It's an Act 3 dialogue, actually, and it happens during his Questioning Beliefs after his Justice quest. You have to do everything he asks for that to happen, though.

Man, one day I will get off me lazy bum and do an Anders playlist like I did a Fenris one, lol. I just.. haven't yet. It's on my to-do list I swear.

Lol Naqey... I've obviously been hanging out around these forums too long. You caught me. That being said I have spent a lot of time mulling over my reasons for liking Anders. Also my reasons for never pursuing his romance. You can use what I said as a start, but in the end I think it becomes a very personal reason and connection to the character. Maybe that in itself is an answer.

For the FIRST time?! -- I'm a little offended. How long have you known me Heiden! LOL.

I put a lot of thought into that playlist, LOL. Each song being something equally representative of certain stages of Fenris.

It took me a long time to do. It is never finished. I've always wanted to do an Anders one. I've actually got quite a few "Andersy" songs in my personal music stash. I just never have put them all together. Seems like when it comes to my Anders to-do list I keep falling behind. Want to do an Anders pic. Want to do an Anders playlist. Want to write some fic with Anders.

But I haven't done any of it *facepalm*

I actually don't click a lot of links out of habbit thanks to my 5 years of WoW and raiding. Its a fairly hard habbit to break, now that I've given that particular world the finger and sent it packing... that being said, I'm still very wary of links I don't know. :P

*sob sob* TRUST ISSUES BEBE. :crying:

As for Anders playlist, I actually think there's one floating around somewhere. I haven't personally ever clicked it (lol) but I could say it might even be safe to bet that its in the first pace of this thread. Surely's pretty much awesome-on-fire-x2.

I'm not sure if it's on the first page or not (I didn't see it there) but Threeparts had a rather large Anders' playlist compiled. Of course, I haven't seen her here in a while so... *shrug*

I made my own playlist, but- being the horrible person I am- at least half of the songs are joke songs. Like Katy Perry's "Firework" and Ke$ha's "Blow." It's also not the longest playlist. I had to work really hard to limit myself sometimes because for a while there, nearly any song could remind me of Anders if I tried hard enough.

Some of the less jokey songs include "The Beacon" by A Fine Frenzy, "Arms" by Christina Perry, and "The Cave" by Mumford and Sons.

Actually, I thought of Velanna from Awakenings.  Hell, I just wrote 12k fanfic after that one bit of inspiration.

I wonder if that means I'm creative, or does it mean I'm easily distracted?

I still don't think Firework is a jokey song when it comes to Anders.

A few hundred pages ago, I wrote a point-by-point analysis of why (before the silly fic meme brought it up again). And it's totally exactly what I wish Hawke could say to him.

And now I wish there was a search function for searching within a thread. Why is there no such thing? As much as I adore long threads (it's shows they have a "history), they are simply impossible to navigate :/

Agreed. I've said it before, too, lol.

Especially the Anders thread. So much good discussions in here but they are a beast to find.

It's a little like a black hole, or an ocean: lost to oblivion in its depths, never to see daylight again. So sad :( I mean, I'm no internet or whatsoever geek, and understand nil about these things, but it shouldn't be too difficult to include such a function.

If I can remember keywords that make enough sense (in this case, Anders, Firework) I just google my username. And voila. It doesn't always work, especially since half the time I just remember "oh, once I went on about flashpoints for a bit." but it turns out I used entirely different terms that I can't remember. I'm half tempted to go through the thread again, looking for all the good bits.

Thanks a lot! Great interpretation, by the way. You just made me... kind of... like the song? Makes me wish you had actually gotten the time to do the video thing :)

Going through the thread looking for the good bits would be quite a... task. We'd need a directory.

Like all good people, I don't tend to like Katy Perry. In fact, I consider the popularity of "Last Friday Night" to be indicative of an astonishing level of cultural decay in our society, possibly an augur of Ragnarok.

But even a broken clock is right twice a day, and even a pop star who puts cupcakes on her boobs can speak the truth... with the help of a few wizards of lyric and melody. Pop music is funny like that: utter weightlessness alternating with shattering profundity. Man, I have an oddly philosophical brand of insomnia tonight.

Lol... I totally pictured a giant desk with stacks upon stacks of papers and some poor person with a crapton of binders and a massive quantity of colored sticky notes for indexing.

A task indeed. I do the same thing CGG does when I want a post reference. Though the longer it gets the more fuzzy my memory becomes, lol.

DO NOT LUMP "LAST FRIDAY NIGHT" WITH KATY PERRY. THAT MY DEAR IS A KE$HA SONG, AND I WANT TO BEAT IT INTO OBLIVIOU WITH MY FISTS.

I actually like Katy Perry, because unlike a lot of pop singers, she actualy knows how to use those pipes.. I feel simmilarly about Christina Agulara and Pink. But then, I'm a singer. Thus the vast majority of pop singers irrtates the utter void out of me.

"WHY ARE THEY POPULAR. THATS NOTHING BUT AUTO-TUNE AND TOUCH UPS! *frotrablerable*" <--- me on a typical day in the car at the radio.
