*edited for the top. That cheeky bastard! I am not a fan of men wearing jewelery, so I am going to write a bit where the Warden convinces him to lose the earring

I watched a few of Adam's other videos, he seems a little strange but endearingly strange.
"Ear Wanking" was just downright gross. What was he thinking?

I believe Anders is what the templers called him while bringing him to the circle, since that's where he's from. Which begs a new question: why was he taken to the Ferelden circle???
Correct me if I'm wrong, but it's said he was from the Anderfels, not that he was necessarily living there when he was taken.

Not to doubt you, but the opposite is also true. My son-in-law (yes, I'm older than dirt!nirvana6794 wrote...
Anders being from Ferelden and the son of immigrants is the most likely; if he'd been born and raised in the Anderfels and was taken from there as a 12 year old, he'd definitely have a slight Germanic or eastern European accent or lilt instead of a decidedly British one. Chances are, the only "foreign" accents he ever heard belonged to his family. Accents, especially strong ones, don't typically fade away that much, even if you're immersed in a place with a decidedly different speech pattern.
I have family from New Orleans who have lived in Washington for 20 years, and they still sound as cajun as they did when they first moved up here. Their daughter, my cousin, sounds like I do, because she was born here. My best friend's mother is from Dublin, and she still has a brogue after 40 years here in the States and years of not hearing an accent like her own anywhere but on TV. My cousin and my friend didn't pick up their parents' accents because there are more people around them who have a Puget Sound accent, and that's what they got.

I know what you mean, BevH.I'm trying to make a case for why David Gaider said, fairly clearly, that Anders's family was from the Anderfels, and that he goes by a nickname referring to that fact. If Anders himself was from the Anderfels, Gaider would've said something along the lines of "Anders is from the Anderfels. He just doesn't use his real name."
But, then again, maybe people from the Anderfels don't have Germanic accents--in Awakening, Mistress Woolsey is an Anders, and she sounds fairly British. I mean, just because they're more ethnically Saxon doesn't mean they are, right?

It is funny, but the more I find out about Adam Howden the more I love Anders. I know they aren't the same person or character at all, but Adam is just so delightfully charming and hilarious. It makes me even more appreciative of Anders' snarky banters and awkward humor because it reminds me of Adam.
It's strange, but just seeing the voice actor really gives you a new perspective on the character and how much effort went into making them come alive.

^^This. I think it's even more so because he actually cares about the character, like it's more than just one job among many. That's the sense I get anyway. He cares aboutthe product and the fandom too, which is sweet.
