Does Seb really always stand too close? I'll have to watch him next time I play. I will admit to only ever watching Anders, even at the expense of watching Hawke.

LOL I just got this image of like... when the camera cuts away from Hawke for a moment to focus on the NPC talking, the camera cuts back and Seb and Anders are getting closer... and closer... back and forth until they're basically piggyback on Hawke and playing the slappy-hands fight with one another.

Don't forget Fenris standing back and sneering at both.  While checking out Hawke's backside.

Sebastian> FENRIS I KNOW YOU HAVE MY BACK, HELP ME WITH THESE PAMPHLETS
Anders> YOU'RE SMOTHERING HIM/HER WITH YOUR BELIEFS
Fenris> Meh.  Count me out.

Fenris:  Hawke, I've still got more wine at my mansion.

Hawke> I have plenty of whine right now, but thank you Fenris...

*snerk*  You win.

hhgnnrnr just finished my rogue playthrough (romancing Fenris) AND MAKER it feels so wrong to finish the game and not have Anders mentioned as staying at Hawke's side. D: D: D:

Edit: I'm also with everyone else who has I'm Not Calling You a Liar on repeat, that song is killing meeeee (And Howl, as well).

Christ, that's a hard one, too.

I have to say, after playing mages so long, anything that talks about loss of freedom or control (which, really, is the same sort of loss in my mind) is just harsh. Damned bloody video games. I should go back to playing happy things like katamari damacy. I thought I played video games to avoid the heaviness of books and movies.

Oh, right, maturation of the media.

I know I am not a popular Anders fan here because I refuse to let him live but I am romancing him right now with a malehawke and I just finished the kissing scene and I have to admit, as a bisexual man I really loved the scene. I don't know if there is a big difference in the scene it self, but the dialog and how it lead up was very well done.

It's my favorite Anders moment in the game. Even if I play the most anti-mage Hawke who has ever lived, he will come with me and I will get that smile.

And then I'll go forth and kill the hell out of all those apostates.

I'm looking to set up Howl to be the theme for my Bloodmage/Anders rivalmance playthrough. It's just going to be a massive downward spiral of madness. I played two roughly fluffy playthroughs so far (as fluffy as DA2 can get, anyway, since it's more like hedgehog-level fluffy than anything 8| ), so I need a dark one to counterbalance - I swear, this m!Hawke is going to be a rival with everyone except maybe Merrill...

He does. Even when you're talking to him. It's like at any moment he's going to make out with you but doesn't because he's a bush tease.

He really has no concept of personal space.  It is hilarious how he's the only one hovering around you and Anders after the big explosion.  And during his "proposal", he gets all up in Hawke's business like he's going to kiss her... and then invites her to become his sister in chastity instead.  (Horny Hawke says "D:")

As since there was some discussion of Garrus a few pages back, I wonder if Garrus and Anders would get along.  They could have nice long discussions about JUSTICE and VENGEANCE and HEATSINK POPPIN' (wink wink).

Simple, Justice was already fascinated by love in Awakening.  He actually wanted it, or seemed to.  I don't know if he would ever understand it, but Margaret would die trying to show them.

I agree with this. :D Hopefully without poor Kaya getting killed.

DeaHamlet wrote...

Does anyone else feels silly caring so much about a game... CHARACTER?
DA:O didn't have me this hooked.

I didn't care for the DAO companions, but it's totally normal for me to care a lot about characters - whether they're from games, movies, or books. And it means the writers did a brilliant job. :)

I thought everything Anders did was awesome (characters with a little crazy in them are my favorites), and he transformed into a character that I liked even more than his Awakening counterpart, so the emotion I got from it was happy rather than heartbreaking like most of you guys. But now I'm getting that same "something terrible is going to happen, this guy is losing his mind" feeling from another, non-Dragon Age character. So I understand it, in a way.

Kawamura wrote...

Little late, but if we're doing Anders songs...

I, er, like Clint Eastwood by the Gorillaz for him? Or maybe Justice ("Finally, someone let me out of my cage, time for me is nothing 'cause I'm feeling no age"). I think I just wanted a song to sorta balance out "I'm not calling you a liar"; that song kills me.

There's a song about Clint Eastwood? I'll have to listen to that later.

And Garrus could explain the best tactical way to take out a target.  Cause Anders wasn't listening to Margaret.

Oh! Speaking of Seb... when my husband was playing he had Seb along for the "Justice" mission. Seb leaves in a huff when you get to the Chantry. But then, at the end of the game he was all, "Is this what you had me help you do?"

I lol'd hard. It was especially funny as it was the only mission my husband brought Seb along for.

I based my m!Hawke on Irving: good on the outside but with a lot more ruthlessness than you expect from a father figure/snarky funny guy mage. I always think it's good to have a realist balance out an idealist.

It's dark enough, thank you. I'm already having near nightmares from imagining what it must be like to be in Anders' shoes.

I brought Seb, too, hoping for Rival points.  "Help?  What are you talking about, you took off!"

There's nothing wrong with not letting him live. I could never do it personally, but I've been a tragic Anders fan since Awakenings, asking me to kill him is like asking me to kill a puppy, but I agree it's a valid decision, even if he is your LI. And the kiss is FANTASTIC.

In a lot of ways I think the m!Hawke romance is better than the fem!Hawke one, which makes me a little sad, since I'm a chick, but also means I'm going to have to make a smoking hot m!Hawke to fuel my fantasies with. :)

How can you say no to gay mages?

I mean, seriously, the dual problem of same sex pairs and magic? It's like, it's like candy. If they'd let me make an elf, I'd've done that, too.

Is there any real difference between the femalehawke and malehawke romance scenes?

I don't know that it's exactly about Clint Eastwood. It just has his name.

"I'm not happy, I'm feeling glad" is a pretty good Anders line to me.

That was the only difference I saw.

And here's the video for the male Hawke/Anders romance without clothes! (they're in the underum....pants?)

This would be amazing! I'd totally pay for a cross-universe, AU Mass Effect DA2 DLC, if it gave us a scene like this.

I doubt that would work. There's no way he would EVER put a curiousity over what he views as his duty and purpose. He thinks love gets in the way of mage freedom so why would he let the fact he thinks it's interesting and wants to know more get in the way? He's too single-minded for that. In Awakening he didn't really have any purpose which is why he latched onto killing all the darkspawn who might have been someway responsible for Kristoff's death. Now he does have a greater purpose and constantly gets reminded of why things need to change.

I don't think it's gonna be possible to have clothing only halfway through till there's a toolset unfortunately. :(

I'm not even romancing him and he gives me that.  I'm SO convinced that no matter what he totally has a crush on Hawke, whether he/she goes for him or not.  *giggles*

You don't get the Karl dialogue with a fem!Hawke, he doesn't talk about "loving the whole person, not the body" and some of his lines later are slightly different. I also adore the M!Hawke "wanna sandwich" line. It's delivered fifty times better from M!Hawke than from fem!Hawke. My fem!Hawke sounds like she's serving High Tea in a royal palace when she says it. M!Hawke is all "Grrr, Hawke just had rough sex, Hawke hungry!"
