Darktown’s streets were quite the dangerous place at night. Especially to a young girl such as Bethany Hawke. However, the girl had gotten a bit scratched up during their last battle and she needed some salves and bandages. Bethany had even insisted on seeing Anders even when her older sister had suggested simply going to a merchant to get medical supplies. There was a certain attraction she had for the mage. He was dangerous, and free. It was certainly interesting to a girl that led a mostly plain life in Lothering, hiding her gifts from everyone but her family. Half of her was content with this, but the other half yearned for rebellion. Besides, what would he want with her when there was Marian? “Just get to the clinic and don’t stop…” She whispered quietly to herself, tripping over unconscious bodies that bore the stench of death and illness. She didn’t know whether to cringe or feel pity for them. Perhaps both? Bethany saw the single lantern that Anders put out every day and night, not only as a light fixture but as a symbol of hope. A symbol to the refugees that they still had a chance. Even though she was close to the clinic, she had felt uneasy all night while traveling through the lower parts of the city. It felt as if someone were following. Watching. “It’s probably nothing, Bethany…” She breathed, trying to bring herself a touch of comfort. But her efforts were shattered as a gruff voice barked at her, “Hello, lovely.”
Bethany turned to see a group of four burly men that had smelled heavily of alcohol surrounding her. She froze, not sure of what to do in such a situation. She wasn’t brave like her sister or brazen like her brother had been. “What’s a pretty thing like yourshelf doin’ all ‘lone? Hmm?” The man chuckled darkly, approaching her.
“Please, leave me alone.” She whimpered, trying to remain calm. Before she could react, the man’s hand connected with her chest forcefully, sending her to the ground. Another one shot after her like a wild dog, tearing at her shirt and producing a large rip on the shoulder. “No! Please!” She yelped, trying to get back up to run away, but her efforts were crippled when one of the drunkards’ fists slammed into her lower jaw, stunning her enough to send her back to her knees. “Anders!” She screamed, hoping for him to hear her and come to her rescue. Bethany was close to breaking down and using magic, but she stayed strong, not wanting to reveal herself as a mage. “Stop! Please…” She pleaded as they continued to toy with her, pushing and shoving and blocking her way out.
Just as she was about to give in, relief came over her in waves as a familiar head of blonde hair came into sight. “Get away from her!” He growled, sending a lick of flame over each of Bethany’s aggressors.
“Bloody hell! A mage! Run!” They yelped, scattering like rats. Anders was then instantly at the young mage’s side. She felt a warmth spread through her as a blue light grew from Anders’ hand. She felt her scrapes and bruises begin to lose their pain. At this point, tears were streaming down her face, both out of relief and fear. She had no words that would be enough to thank him, so she simply pulled him into a meaningful hug. “Never let go..” She whimpered into his shoulder. To her, he was her hero.
"I won't. I promise."

I've been meaning to post here since I've been working on an Anders cupcake for my Dragon Age series! I think I've been stalking this thread since it was 70 pages long, so hello (finally)!
Anyway, I adore Danzig for Anders. Soul on Fire, Am I Demon, and End of Time (for The Last Straw) come to mind, though I admit to having Mother on my Anders playlist simply because it's such a fun song.
Some others:
Lykke Li - I Follow Rivers (Hawke/Anders)
Blackmore's Night - All for One (more my Hawke + all companions)
Devil Doll - Man in Black (Hawke/Anders)
Fences - My Girl the Horse (Hawke/Anders)... I think I heard of this from the author who wrote The Box
Mumford and Sons - The Cave

I don't think Corypheus was terribly interested in getting into Hawke's head, just into Hawke's veins so he could break the seals to his prison. 
But Happy New Year to everyone! Is there a hope that if the Anders' Thread stays alive that Anders might get to live come DA3? (I guess we can hope...)
New Year's Wish: A DLC for gifts FROM the characters and/or meeting the non-crazy, non-blood magic using moderate mages that escaped the Kirkwall Circle. (I suppose it would be titled "One Week" since Hawke was wishing that s/he could go just one week without meeting an insane mage.)
