Its interesting how different people interpret it. I'd assume he'd meant 'our children' as in, 'everyone's children' and was speaking far more generally...

When he says "our" that normally comes out as reference to Hawke and him. IF he meant everyone else he would have said "their."

The "our" part is what makes me view it as Anders speaking of Hawke and their kids, not everyone else <shrugs>

Oh I understand that. I just imagined him always meaning a collective 'our' like we might say 'our' future meaning everyones. :)

How about we all agree that the children Anders is talking about are the orphans from the Denerim alienage?
Ollie's an orphan, after all.

Or the children are actually cats.

I really don't think that he is talking about adoption if he were he would mention it to male hawke as well. I think that he does mean Hawke and his children, but sort of a metoforical hypotecthic level. Anders is still the guy who dreamt of the beutiful girl and the right to throw lightning at fools. So I sort of understand it as a metafor where he says 'We will fight for the future where it is possible for mages to achieve that dreams.' Of course if he is with a man the metafor needs to be said a little different to work.

I think his line can be both personal and general at the same time as we may be seeing both Anders' desires and Justice's desires being similar and voiced in the same line with slightly different meanings.  It still works as a metaphor and if Anders did not have his own children you can bet he would be adopting any young mages driven out by their parents with no Circle to be sent to in addition to any young Circle mages with no one to watch out for them after the uprisings.  I so believe that DA3 is going to revolve around the Circle vs Seeker war.  (And I give full credit to the Bioware team for keeping their games fresh instead of making new rehashings of the same old story.  The world moves on after the Blight.  Good show, Bioware!)

I am sure that Hawke and Anders would pick up lost mage children, but I am not sure they would 'adopt' but more shelter them. Perhaps even place them by other mages (if they come across some) who aren't specifically hunted by the seekers and the templars.

I am afraid that the seekers is being set up to be the good guys. At least Cassandra's group. I think it is bull****, but right now it seems that the moderate Seekers and the Chantry will be the moderater between the templars and the mages Posted Image. I still hope that da3 will end with the Orleasian chantry being torn apart so that the chantry doesn't have a central 'goverment' any more, but my biggest fear are still that we will be forced into playing a seeker in da3Posted Image

Yeah playing a Seeker does not sit well with me-if it is true that is.

Cassandra annoyed the hell out of me, I wanted to reach through the screen and slap her. I do not see how she expects my Hawke to help her regain order if I chose to side with the mages and being a mage. Besides, after reading Asunder,
I have a feeling the Divine is out to save her own ass and has some ulterior motive setup.

Personally, I rather play Hawke again for DA3, but no matter how much I wish it, it is clear it is not going to happen.

I litterary lolled when Cassandra said that the mages would listen to my Hawke. My reaction was 'I sure hope so, but my first order would proberly be to kill you lady'.

But honestly. This is a terrible thing to say, but I would side with the templars before the chantry, that should say something about how little I like the chantry.

You know what else is funny?

When Cassandra says: "No this cannot be right. The Champion came to Kirkwall to spread subversion against the Chantry."

Before I could say anything my husband says, "Well, seeing as to how you play, I would say that is true."

I died laughing between her comment and my husband's.

Able to kill Cassandra is DA3? Yes, please, that and the Divine.

Did you read asunder? The divine wanted the circle to change for the better. Don't really like Cassandra very mch either.

Yes I did read "Asunder" and the Divine may want the Circle to change for the better, does not mean I cannot think she has some ulterior motive up her sleeve.

In Asunder the Divine seems to want to apease the mages, but mentian Chantry control. The largest problem imo is that this conflict as been brewing for several hundred years. What ever effort there could have been to prevent this war, it was far to late. The Chantry has been dismissing that there was a problem, even if Anders had not blown up the Chantry the mages would have rebelled anyway,

The Divine has the same problem Elthina did, noble words and intensions, but not willing to use their power. As Varric say about lord Harrowmond "He hopes that if he closes his eyes thight and wishes, the real world will go away."

Beautiful art, Katiebour. And a good reminder of what the fate of mages tends to be in this world. I am wondering if we are following the Chantry storyline as well. But I think I will have a bit more faith in Bioware this time if so. I avoided DA2 because I was really upset that you HAD to play a human. I mean, gee, the ultra rare human option...oh boy. But it went from being the last thing I wanted to play to the game I have completed the most times.

Dragon Age is like Doctor Who. Sometimes it pays to give the new guy a chance because the writing can carry you away. (Another lesson learned.) Even if we were forced to play a Seeker, surely there will be a split of following the old way or siding with the mages and sparing them.

Personally, I am hoping we have a full-on Seeker vs. Mages war with the option to be on either side. It is a great set up to have the world at war on the issue of mages and their treatment. So much potential. So I will just steeple my hands and wait to see what they come out with this time. ^-^ I should probably set a cat in my lap for good measure. Muhahahahaha!

RL has forced me out of the loop for a long time, but thanks to gentle encouragement, I've finally updated. The reasons for staying away for so long are many and all are RL, but in the end, I returned because I missed Anders.

The DA2 fic is updated.

Anyone here who misses the old Anders voice.. you can hear em in Diablo 3. As soon as I heard it...I was like "Anders!"

Oh don't get me wrong the new voice is fine, but its a little off putting when he had a diffrent voice actor in DAA.

Really? Which Diablo 3 character is voiced by Greg Ellis?

The change in VAs didn't bother me. I liked Greg Ellis for light-hearted and sarcastic Awakening Anders, but I think I prefer the more emotional-sounding Adam Howden for DA2 Anders. Their voices are similar enough in pitch that I can convince myself that the changes in inflection are the result of his experiences post-Awakening.

I don't know the name of the guy, but as soon as you start the game, there is a guard at the front gate you need to speak too. Its Anders in disguise :P

I like Adam Howden as Anders: quite a down-to-earth accent, with a hint of fragility. He just managed to sound so sincere. Greg Ellis's voice has a smooth, patrician quality which seems to suit Cullen.
