Well, you can headcanon whatever you like, but that isn't going to work for every Hawke who romances Anders. The vast majority of *mine* were mages (with a mage father and a mage sister), but a lot of those were male, so no babies one way or another.

I've been following the other thread. I'm not sure how his status will affect his fertility. As a warden of 7+ years, his swimmers would ordinarily be too hopelessly tainted to be viable, but the spirit inside him does complicate matters. I doubt it's a question of his being a healer. If that were the case, he would have been able to cure Carver in the Deep Roads. Justice really does put up a fight when Corypheus tries to control Anders, though, so it's possible that the spirit may be keeping the taint at bay. Whether Justice would be interested in preserving his ability to father a child is doubtful, but he might not have any choice in the matter. Maybe Justice doesn't so much reverse the damage as keep it from getting any worse... in which case, his sperm count is probably no worse than Alistair's was at the time of the Dark Ritual, and we all know how that ended.

Unfortunately it doesn't work for male Hawke romances. Is a pity because I think it is a great story arch.

Justice wants Anders to keep up with the mage freedom cause. What better way to motivate Anders than making it even more personal, i.e. having a mage child ? How many of us would not do all we can to protect our own child from the pains we had to go through ? Maybe Justice even acts to make some "Dark Ritual" like magic, to make  Hawke pregnant,  if he thinks this will make Anders get off his arse and go back to fighting for mages :P

Anything is possible in the dragon age universe. Remember that trhrough both games we were led to belive that reversing the rite of tranquility was impossible. Yet in Asunder that fact changes.

As for Mirrogans ritual she say that she needs a warden who hasn't been tainted for long. I have no idea what her definition of long is though.

No baby story please.

It would be interesting to read as a fan fiction story though

Yeah, I think she was proposing the scenario as the basis for a fanfic, not any kind of actual canon reason for Anders's actions.

Oh, I have a question for Anders fans here. Why does Merrill says this on Act 3 ?

Act 3
Merrill: Poor Anders.
Fenris: You pity him? He's dangerous to himself and everyone around him.
Merrill: I think he's broken the thing he wanted to save.
Fenris: You pity him because he's you.
Merrill: Breaking the things you love most isn't restricted to mages, Fenris.
Fenris: Sadly true.

What does she mean.. Does she mean Hawke's heart ?

It actually happens after disent in act 2. She is talking about Justice.

As for the baby issue, I'm writing a fanfiction where this is adressed. My take on it is that you can devise a potion that provent his swimmers from getting the taint for the duration he is taking the potion. This does not work on female wardens since thier reproductive cells are always a part of them and do not create new ones as men do.

It's this one Reborn from cataclysm if you are interrested.

I'll definitely read your fanfic, but only after I write mine. When I'm writing a fanfic I avoid reading other people's related work, for fear of including their ideas by accident. -.-

The potion is great but would demand that Hawke or Anders took it on purpose. I think I'll go with Justice doing his "thing" to nulify the taint on a few swimmers, to get Anders more motivated. This way both Anders and Hawke are caught by surprise, which works better in my plot idea ^^

PS: Doesn't the "satandard" fem Hawke look like the major from Ghost in the Shell ?  I'm listening to GITS sound track while playing it

Just discovered something else about the baby issue *SPOILERALERT*

Grand enchanter Fiona has a child after her joining, so if the warden did the Dark ritual that makes at least two warden children. Not as unlikely as I thought at least.

It's been a while since I read the book, but something happened to Fiona that removed the taint from her. On the other had, though, when she and Maric "licked the lamppost", Fiona *was* still tainted. So, take that as you will.

David Gaider has always stated that the books are a separate canon to the games. Im sure we will hear something about Anders in DA:3

I think the problem with the books is that in order to have seriously included Anders he'd have to 'book canonise' him by admitting he's alive. :pinched:

Personally I'd have prefered he appeared too but hey you can't have it all. :innocent:

Actually, I'm glad that Anders did not get mentioned more. Despite repeated assertions that the books aren't canon, players insist that they are. Some players were annoyed about Alistair being king in the Silent Grove comic series, for example, believing that it was the same as saying that DG had decided an official fate for him. And other players, of course, get all smug because they did make Alistair king and they see the comics as vindication that they made the right choice. I don't know why they feel the need for this. Maybe they're insecure.

Now, imagine the outrage if Anders played some active role in a post-DA2 novel. The forums would be afire with "But I shanked him!" And imagine the gloating from those same players if DG said he died. That would get old quick. Really, it's better if Anders's next appearance is in the next game... although I wouldn't mind if his fate was left completely open. I would rather have him never mentioned again than have the import flags get messed up.

I like the fact that the choices we make don't have a greater effect on the books. It means that every person can apply the story.

But about Anders not appearing and people getting upset on the forum, the same could be said for wynne. Wynne has an important role in Asunder and the Ferelden circle hasn't been annulled. These are vital choices IMO, but in Asunder they have been made for you. We can't have it all, so lets be grateful for what we get:)

Ya, I know.. but they could sell 4 times more books if they made a book for each ending ;)

I don't think they would.....they'd sell the same amount of books....split into 4 depending on what ending the reader chose.
