In DAA I was really impressed by remark that in one of his escape Anders jumped from the tower and swam across the lake.

Casting of 'Feather fall' was not mentioned, I suppose?.. 8P

@txmn1016 Shhh! Just don't tell anyone. They will call me a traitor. And send Doodle to track and hunt me down across BSN.

About DAA. I'm not yet far on my play (just took back keep and had a chat with Alistair)...but there's something that bothers me much more than Anders' jestering. Voice. Was he even acted by same person? Probably - it's different way of sound post-effecting(DA2 voice had more reverb and slight echo, DAA sound almost like 'plain'). Or DAA acting was...different ( though I'd use word 'bad'). But he just sounds hell wrong to me.

Not text - intonating, pitch.. everything. It sounds unnatural. Voice is too high and forced. May be it was the intention - to show that he actually just plays fool at this point, but is more than that? I don't know. But I think that character's voice actor does huge part of personality. If that's how he sounds across the game - it will make me much harder to enjoy it.

I'll go on playing to see more banter and dialogues.

He was acted by a different person in Awakening. The voice actor is the same who does the voice for Cullen. I understand why they didn't want to have the same voiceactor for two important figures in DA II, but why they choose to switch Anders and not Cullen, I have no idea. (Make no mistake I do love the voice for Anders in DA II).

As for his personality, I believe Anders to very much the same person. He just hides behind sarcasm and his... ehm... neurotic tendensies? Jusice gave him a lot more courage it seems. Save before you talk to him and try telling him mages are dangerous, then you will see sparks of the Anders rampaging through DAII. Also remember to hold down tab when you enter a new area. Missed a lot of conversationspot the first time around.

Enjoy:)

Someone mentioned recently that Greg Ellis had other work commitments that didn't allow him the time to play a full companion so Adam Howden was brought on board. Which I'm eternally grateful for because I'd never have heard of him otherwise and his Tweets quite often make my day when I'm sitting at work. ^_^

Adam Howden  was in DAO as well. There is a prisoner in Ostagar (Mage chest quest) who was voiced by
him. I played DA2 first then DAO and was a bit confused by hearing that very familiar voice in such a strange place :)

I hadn't even done that quest til I found out he voiced that NPC. Weirdly though I didn't think Howden's voice really suited that prisoner? Maybe I'm just so used to him being Anders...not sure. But it seemed as though the prisoner was quite a bit older...

He was acted by a different person in Awakening.

Thanx the Maker, because I thought I'm going slighty mad and do not recognize his voice.

Is fo - I aready got a big-big problem with DAA Anders. I'll try my best not to be biased because of his different (and not so good for me) voice acting. But voice is a good share of character for me (even IRL I think voice is imortant). I feel like 60% of mentioned before Kaidan is Sbarge's VA for me, and 20+20 - writing and my imagination....though, probably in my case imagination takes even bigger %.

One of my ME3 problems was different Modrin - ME2 one was way better. It annoyed me, even though I liked his plot.

The voice actor is the same who does the voice for Cullen. I understand why they didn't want to have the same voiceactor for two important figures in DA II, but why they choose to switch Anders and not Cullen, I have no idea.

I'm greatfull they did. I just can't see this (DAA) voice for his DA2 arc. Most of DA characters
"fit" their voices. Close your eyes and hear Oghren, close your eyes and hear Zev or Fenris or Varric - you'll see what you hear. If I close my eyes and hear DAA Anders I see...Rincewind the Sourcerer (in dirty robes and with a half-brick in a sock)

I'm not sure what I'd feel if I had awakening first, though. I admit that. And once again - I have still little to none idea about how they treated his personality in DAA, I was talking only about voice.

Adam Howden is a big part of what makes DA2 Anders amazing! I am very glad Cullen's VA was busy

The different voice grated me at first but then it got a bit better.. Not as good as DA2 but tolerable.. I think the ability to see / change Anders equipment made up for it

I've said this before, but I liked both voices for what they were.

In Awakening, Anders is hiding his rage behind humor and deflection, so a sharper, bouncier voice works. In DA2, the facade is gone, and the "fuzzier," more emotional voice works better.

My thoughts exactly.

Although it probably wasn't intended at first, I think it really goes with Anders' character development, how he's matured and changed with Justice.

And at least we don't have the same voice for an apostate and a templar anymore, which was quite, uh, unsettling, haha.

Now that you mention it, ya, it does work quite well!

I'd never considered this but it's 100% true.

Well, I think I could deal with it. More or less. I know that he, probably, could not sound same as in DA2 during that period...but I still don't really like how he intonates. I mean - I'd hardly like this voice and acting even if it was not about Anders. Yes, people can make "silly voice" as they tell jokes...but the way it is done - I think he sounds unnatural. And his kitten-talks are...ouch. :)

Cool screen shot! MotA?

And what's that in his hand? (Pretty sure fingers don't actually move that way, but we're all used to seeing wacky anatomy in game, right?)

What DLCs involve Anders most? I'm not much interested in new companions, to be honest. I've read that Legacy was mostly done by Helper (whom I respect a lot, and I was impressed by her writing more than once), so I got it for my second PT with DAA import. Don't know whether it's good or not, so - don't spoil much, if you can, but oppinions and advices are welcome. :)

Legacy, deffinetly. Anders has a great part in that, very specific to only his character.

but his best lines are on MotA

(If romanced, after they have escaped from the Dungeons)
Anders: Here I always figured you'd be the one coming to spring me from someone's dungeon. I had it all planned.
Anders: I'd be in the Gallows, templars all around, holding the brand for the Rite of Tranquility. Then you'd burst in and break my chains.
Anders: And then it would be all about the best way to show my gratitude.
Hawke:
(If Hawke has a diplomatic/helpful personality) Then I should spend some time working out how to thank you.
(If Hawke has a humorous/charming personality) Did it have anything to do with finding another use for those chains?
(If Hawke has an aggressive/direct personality) You already know the best way to do that.
(The next line depends on who is in the party)
Fenris: Get a room!
Aveline: I hate to point this out, but... Tallis rescued Hawke.
Isabela: This is all so sweet... but we didn't actually do any rescuing, remember?
Tallis: Not to come between you two or anything, but you didn't actually rescue us.
Tallis: I did.
Hawke: Though... you didn't actually rescue me, did you?
Anders: It's the thought that counts.
(Alternative)
Anders: I could be grateful to you too.
