Is anyone else sad that Anders will probably not be in DA:3? I mean he was in Awakening and such a huge part of DA:2 and so many people chose to kill him, it's a slim chance he'll be in the next one... it's sad.

I want an Awakening type expansion where you get to experience the 3 years after the events and see how each of the companions leave you. And if you killed someone off, you just don't get their bit.
That'd be satisfying!

Well, to be fair, a decent amount of people killed Zevran and Leliana. Leliana magically regrew her head, after all, so who knows. Anders may have plot armour.

I hope Anders has plot armour.

Oh, if Fenris betrays you in the fade ANDERS comes out if you take the violent option and tell him "If you betray me you'll pay for it." Fenris gets all "So you'll resort to threats" and Anders says, in Anders' voice, something along the lines of "you're a whiny hypocrite, yes you are!!"

Fits well with my theory that Anders is in Justice in the fade the same way Justice is in Anders in the real world. The dominant personality is the one whose home it is.

Hawke asked him to stay over one night. Then a few times later that week. Anders' stuff just started accumulating and they never really had a proper "move-in" discussion. A key just showed up on the desk in the bedroom that Anders took over.

I find the thought of Anders sneak-moving-in adorable.

It's all fun and games until it happens to you.
Twice.
I ended up married that way.

Worked out about as well as one might expect.
Ah, youth... boy was I a real idiot.  A real idiot with a fantastic apartment.  What a dangerous combination.

This almost goes without saying in an

in the bedroom.  Can you imagine all the crazy things a mage could do?
(What am I saying, with the dirty minds on this thread, of course we
can!)

Imagine?  I've spent months writing them down!
I could offer a specific link but, well... 90% of my fanfic involves crazy mage!smut.

What?  Everyone needs a hobby.

That seems spot-on.  After all, all humans and elves have at least SOME connection to the fade, and mages more than average people.  Anders hasn't been made tranquil (eep) and had his severed... there would have to be some part of him in there.

Which makes me feel even worse about bringing him, since it's got to be horrible to be a passenger in your own body when justice takes over. he didn't even like the fade BEFORE he was possessed!

It was probably more than 75%... I really messed up.  It's possible that if I had chosen the right dialogue choice (I think it was about slaves?!?!) he might have stayed... but I was very STUPID and CLUELESS and messed it all up.
And his yelling at me during the gift giving totally convinced me that only my evil blood mage will be in rivalry with Fenris.  I liked it so much better when he was all excited at the irony and stuff.
Besides, the reason I messed up is because my canon Hawke and him agree on anything but the whole circle business. I was making decisions JUST to get his rivalry up by act 3.  It was a complete failure all around.
Must replay it, and fix the import fixes cause I didn't get Nathan's quest and Alistair called the warden "friend".  Bastard, I put Anora in power so you could stay with the warden and you dare not even acknowledge it? *rage*
LOL

The slave option was the way to go, I think. I guess it makes him feel cornered, and, perhaps makes him realize that he's had hypocricy branded onto his forehead the whole game. If it makes you feel any better, I entirely botched my first run; had to drop it entirely, actually, because at the end of Act II the Arishok kept killing me in one hit. I didn't even recruit Fenris, so I had no option of being cheap in a duel, either.

And I'll rage with you. My situation is with Zevran sleeping around on my Warden, but I'll rage with you.

Oh my.  Yeah, Arishok was killing my rogue on one-on-one so bad, it wasn't even funny.  I had to reduce the difficulty cause by the time I regained my things that sometimes stun him, he regained health!!!  It was infuriating!  As a mage I killed him like nothing arg.  And my mage had almost no health, lol.  Arishok respected me in all my playthroughs so Fenris didn't even get to intervene, the Arishok suggested we mano-a-mano.

Is it shameful that I wish I could side with the Qun?  That'd be so wicked interesting.  My evil mage will friend Isabela, but when she runs off despite my mage being helpful and all that, he's going to rage so bad he's going to give her over! (Rivalry with that woman is so impossible, arg. so friendship it is)

I at least managed to finish the first messed up playthrough... but it was a lot of ARG *headdesk*

I hate bringing Fenris in the fade because last time he was so unbelievably angry (who can blame him?) and Anders seemed very unhappy with the prospect as well... but I'm going to do this just to get that dialogue!!!!!  Thanx for telling me, I have a sick obsession with their angry banters :P

Edit: I'm not going to save that, I'm just going to do it to see and then reload.  I don't want to sik those two on eachother for reals, lol.

In an actual dialogue line?  Ooh, I need to go try that.  I did keep hearing Anders's usual battle cries in his voice in the Fade, which I assumed was just an oversight.

Anders/Justice in the fade is tops. I love how he's all snooty with Torpour. And Torpour gets my vote as "best incidental villain with less than ten lines of dialogue".

Hey. It wouldn't exactly be like Anders did it. I always see Hawke being the one to go "hey, why don't you leave your toothbrush here. I mean, since you're sorta sleeping here more often than in your nasty ass clinic and all..."

@DeaHamlet there's a door at the back you can't open. I always assume that's where he sleeps. And I'm sure he can use ice spells to get fresh water for washing :)

A fantastic question.
Perhaps he sleeps on a cot? Though that would be terribly uncomfortable.
Or maybe it' just one of those places where you can't go in the game...you know...when you're running joyously towards an open doorway and *SMACK*! You run into an invisible "no-no" barrier?

I do. I get actively bummed whenever they agree on stuff (maybe because the only thing the agree on is how much Merrill sucks. >.>). Fortunately, I only get Friendly points from Fenris when Hawke is at her "**** off, slavers!" best, and Anders is pretty mum on that topic.

@Miri I wondered if there was any Anders around in the Fade, because of the battlecries (like leggywillow, I assumed BW had just gotten lazy). That's an interesting observation.

I half-expect DA:3 to rip my heart to threads even more. I can even forgive some of the dumbing down because of all this amazing story stuff and the characters are all awesome. Even Isabela *sigh*. Even Sebastian... I mean, I hate him, there must be something about him to elicit such strong dislike, right?

He's probably referring to seeing physical people from our world in the Fade, not just dream versions of them.  Or something like that.  It was said that whatever the Keeper did to send them there was something unusual.

And Miri, Torpor is pretty awesome.  I think I'm going to betray Anders in the Fade next time just so I can hear Torpor call Justice a prig.

Marethari tells you your friends awoke a while ago. So I presume we are asleep and in the fade the normal way. I guess it's just whatever magic she4 used to get us there then. I only wondered because spirit healers description now sounds suspiciously like Wynne's secret was found out..muahaha oh wouldn't THAT be priceless.

Edit for fail: whatever magic she used to replace the LYRIUM that got us there.

When I was getting ready to go to the Fade, Fenris was all *heavy sigh* I'd rather not, but I will if you need me. I didn't take him, though, because I didn't want to drag someone along who didn't want to be there. I think I was somewhere in the middle of rival/friend at that point. Does he get angry once in the Fade every time no matter what? I also have a question about him at the end, where initially he's furious and no way am I going to help you save the mages, and then after... something? Anders judgment? Not sure, but he starts complaining again, and I said, "I thought you were in favor of freeing slaves" and he looked at the ground all shamed and said, "I..." and then told Meredith to stick it and started helping me. My rivalry with him was high at that point, near the end of the game it just went up, up, up, so I was REALLY confused.

Also, I have GOT to hear Anders say that line in the Fade!

So far, the Anders romance is my fav. It starts out so hot- and I just feel like it fizzles out towards the end. As I wrote in anotther thread, I know it's part of his story arc, but there is a lack of SOMETHING at the end.

I know Bioware beats us over the head with the fact that he did A VERY BAD THING (honestly my Hawke doesn't give a hoot about the chantry), but a relationship should be reflected in those last few scenes. If you decide that he has to die, Hawke is all "You must pay for what you've done" and stabs the dude in the BACK. Personally, I think if you had high friendship/romance, there should have been a stabby option with something like "I'm sorry it had to end this way, Anders...". At least look him the eyes as you kill him! GAH! And don't even get me started about the lack of romance in the last conversation. I know he did A VERY BAD THING. But how about a hug? Anything? These few things would have made the ending so much more satisfying for me...*sigh*

I agree.  I think the general consensus on the thread a zillion pages ago was that a big kiss (like ALL THREE OTHER LIS GET... grrr) wouldn't really fit the mood in light of what Anders just did.  Despite his "victory", he's not happy about what he's done.  He's not in the mood for kisses.  Okay, I'm cool with that.

But maybe just him reaching up to brush Hawke's cheek or something, complete with a tired smile?  That wouldn't be asking too much, would it?

Fenris was on the rivalry path.  And he was angry AFTER he betrayed me, like it was my fault cause I brought him there o.O
I think if he's on the friendship path he reacts differently.
And apparently bringing up the slave issue makes Fenris side with you if you're over 75% or something.
I personally was too much of an idiot to realise that and... well... killed him.
