I have to admit the Anders romance is getting my creativity going. I am also doing a writing exercise. A Anders diary from a first person pov. I really enjoy the Anders romance even more so because my husband look a like Anders. He really loves the idea as he tends to agree with Anders on most issues.

I wonder if it's something in the water. I recently introduced my sister to gaming. She had never played a computer game in her life, so I started her out on DA2, since I thought the controls would be easier to learn than DA:O (we play on the PC). I deliberately avoided telling her *anything* about the companions because I did not want my preferences to influence her in any way. It took her a while to warm up to Varric, surprisingly. She didn't realize that you really are alowed to joke around with your companions. Once she figured that out, he became one of her favorites. Anders, she loved right off the bat. That surprised me, actually. I thought she might prefer Fenris, since his motivations might be more easily understood by somebody who has never been exposed to the game universe and who therefore has no idea about the issues mages face, but no, she wound up not caring for him much.

Maybe it's just a case of "like attracts like." You and your husband probably like a lot of the same things. My sister and I are grown now, but we were raised together. We like some of the same things, but certainly not all. We do have Anders in common, though.

you are so right. my husband and i have played RPG's for the past 30+ years. both before and after we meet and wed. we both love playing mage so the Anders choice was easy. what is most interesting is how similair Anthony is to Anders in looks and personality. i also feel very lucky he is not jealous of my Anders obsession. Posted Image

mind you he does not have Justice makeing him do strange things, even if my husband also hate injustice

Sadly, my phone's charge life is pathetic and I already need it for music. I just have hone my ninja skills. A day will come when I shall stare at erotic pictures and no one will know!

Oh, Cone of Cold! That was my favourite spell in DAO outside of the spec. ones (Blood Wound is broken but awesome).

I really like the particle physics on the new cone of cold.  I could cast it all day just to see it sparkle.  :)

Gyrefalcon, you know that absolutely ridiculous thing where enemies explode upon dying, while making a sound like breaking glass? You know when it's awesome? When they do it after being hit by Chain Lightning. I don't know why, but I just love it when that happens, even when I usually just try to ignore that silliness after any other attack. I love the revamped lightning spells all around, they just feel more impactful than in DAO. Though I found the new fire and ice ones less impressive than before...

Bonus points to everyone! Cameron Lee just posted on the DA3 "Top 5 Things" thread and is pleased with all the suggestions. So he also saw our interest in seeing Anders back, as well as a lot of Cullen, Sandal, Wade and Herron support. Maybe we will get our wish? (To make up for not having a cat DLC for Anders!) :D

FlipFlops:  I have not chased that tree!  Exploding infected enemies, hmmm?  I may have to try that one!  Thanks for the idea, sounds like the effect would be pretty cool!

Hobbit, that joke never gets old if you ask me XDD Thank you for the laugh.

Gyrefalcon, yay for us! And Wade and Herren. They're ridiculous and overplayed, but I adore 'em.
Ooh, no, I'm not talking about Walking Bomb (also an awesome spell, by the way), but about when enemies just explode when you kill them. I think it has something to do with critical hits or maybe cross-class combos, I'm not really sure. Look for it next time you play, it can get pretty silly.
Hey, what trees have you explored and which ones are your favourite? I'm really fond of Primal, Arcane and Force schools. Gonna try a mix of Elemental, Entropy and Blood Magic on another playthrough, see how that goes.
I know the question is not exactly relevant, but... Anders is a mage and, ehm, it's sorta related? XDD You just wait until I start posting pictures of my cat when it gets totally silent. It'd be just as topical.

Really? I'm going to have to go look.I absolutely adored Wade and Herren, and I would love to see them return. It goes without saying that I would appreciate an Anders cameo. I'm hoping that Cullen will be a companion and a LI (no sparkling except during lovescenes... ). So yeah, I like the bullet points he acknowledged. I just hope there's some clarification about whether we'll have to play as a chantry agent or not. I wouldn't like that one bit.

Okay...it may be a silly question, but...just what color is Anders' hair? Dark blonde? Strawberry blonde? Reddish blonde? It's driving me batty and thus, my artwork is suffering. It looks golden blonde on my tv, but screenshots on my computer shows some reddish tones to it. Help?

On my PC, it looks kind of strawberry blond. Any shade would probably work, as long as the scruff failed to match. ;)

Thanks all! Good to know I wasn't the only one seeing the magically changing hair color between console and computer. As for that scruff...yeaaah...the non matching color kills me. Its like that was labeled "generic male stubble" and slapped on a few different characters.

I would say Anders hair color is dirty blonde.

Well that is what it looks like on the console version.

And yeah I don't get why his face scruff is a different color. I've come to realize with Bioware miss matched face hair/eyebrows with the hair color seems to be a trend in Thedas. :P

It's actually kind of strawberry blond for me... I'm on the xbox. BUT my TV is from 2003 and is not HD.

You'd be surprised. One of my friends has jet black hair...but he gets red patches of stubble. It's not in-your-face blatant, but it's really odd once you notice.

That being said, Anders' stubble is dark all over, not just by patches. Still, I find his eyebrows more jarring.

As for hair colour, he varies between dark blonde and strawberry on my PC, depending on the lighting.

To be honest - I have no idea where Varric took that "Blondie" thing from, because I see him as golden-fair haired, with slight shades of red on my laptop (and most of screens).

I may be confused by mistranslation, though. But in my language "blond" is... well, blond. It's white and it has some shades, but I would not ever use it to describe Anders' hair color. Especially having Fenris standing near. That one IS blond! 8P

The closest english word for Anders hair I know is "fair". But I know little about fashion in Thedas. And I'm also not so good at english fashion-related vocabulary.

No, Varric is right. In English, blonde means golden-yellow hair. It's a synonym of "fair". Anders is definitely blonde, even if the exact shade varies between consoles and PC. Fenris' hair would be described as white.

Thanx for explaining! I will know now.

Just as I supposed - a nice case of interlingual homonym. Because in my understanding (and also in my native language) Fenris is "blond" while Anders is... I don't really know any proper english translation for needed word, but literally - it's "dark-golden-blond" or "light brown" and those are not synonyms with "blond".

I wonder how did Varric call Anders in our localized version. Because initial "Blondie" would make very little sense. But I have no idea - because I always play original versions.

I hesitate to ask what language is it. But in general, if you go to the store and look at hair dyes - there are 3 major groups - blond, brown and black (with countless shades within each one). Fenrises hair would be considered "bleached" and just white.

Sure your friend does not dye their hair?

Not many peeps care for their red hair and end up dying it a diffrent color.

Nah, he's a typical Mediterranean type: olive skin, black eyebrows, thick black hair. The rest of his stubble is black, it's just those two little patches around the chin.

He's a really dark blonde. It'd have to be a bit more brown for him to be a brunette, I think. Considering what we see in Kirkwall doesn't seem to be too sunny, I'd suspect if Anders were, say, on the beach, he'd look quite blond. So perhaps Varric saw him in bright light or hung out on the docks with him and saw his glistening hair and called him Blondie. :-P
