Considering what we see in Kirkwall doesn't seem to be too sunny

Really? Kirkwall during day and some of Wounded coast are lit well, imo. And while I understood that English has no defined "middle ground" hair color between "blond" and "brown" - I'd describe him as "light golden-brown with some slight shades of red". But it's only me and my laptop screen. :)

And Varric's hair looks lighter than Anders, by the way.

In DA2, each act is a different time of day. Act 1 is lighted as if it were midmorning, act 2 as if it were midday, and act 3 as if it were late afternoon. Lighting in both acts 1 and 3 leaves a lot of areas in serious shadow.

I'd say that Act 1 was more mid afternoon, Act 2 was more early evening and Act 3 was mid morning....considering the whole midnight thing Anders says.

I've played the Anders rivalmance before, but honestly, I was so upset by the whole thing that I never really listened. He reads a portion of it to Hawke during his Act 2 Questioning Beliefs. It's the scene that begins with him putting out milk for the cats in the friendship path (and the one with the intense kiss for romances). Could it be available on YouTube?

That scene is the only one in which he reads part of his manifesto. Unfortunately, you never get to see the whole thing. Maybe it will be a DA3 loot item! If it is, I hope they bring back item descriptions.

I uh...have an obession with Anders...so I know all his lines by heart....

<clears throat>

"Andraste suffered at the hands of Magisters, thus she fear the influence of magic. But if the Maker blamed magic for the Magisters actions in the Black City, why would he still gift us with it?"

Wow! It's a very good idea. Such kind of reference would be both nice and harmless to any kind of headcanons! And...something little pointing out at Hawke being nearby...like some margin note about leaving his writings aside because Hawke's waiting for him...Yeah, I know, a girl can dream. But better this than some random wierd cameo..

Hardcopy Anders' Manifesto as DA3 Collectors' Edition item.  What, dreams can come true! :innocent:

I'm trying to rivalmance Anders now but failing miserably (I think I've maxed out on Friend).  So can one choose all aggressive options but making sure to choose Love options and still get a rivalmance?  I'm attempting to agree with him (pro-mage, anti-templar), but as he gets more drastic, becoming more angry with him.  About halfway through (dealing with Qun) and angry!Hawke is about to surface.

Well, there's something that would make me buy DA3 no matter what: a framable version of Anders's manifesto as a CE bonus.

I hate rivalmancing Anders. I can't do it. I did it once for science, my heart broke, and I haven't been able to do it since.

THIS! And I'm preordering first time in my life and do not care for extra post charges! 8P

By the way, do you think we should take this idea into DA3 requests thread? It's not that crazy...i mean loot item with extended codex...hardcopy is less possible, I think..

Why not? :)  Go for it!

I've never bought any collectors' edition in my life but his manifesto is definitely something (and I think a lot of people) would buy.  It surprises me how Bioware doesn't seem to capitalize on cool collectors items as much as they could.  Frankly, all of their store items are so.... for little boys.

Plus, they need to do international shipping.  US-only collectors' edition makes the abomination in me want to surface.

They're missing out on a hot market, I tell you. Matted manifesto, abomination squeaky toy, Ser Pounce-A-Lot bell collar... there's gold hiding in there somewhere.

Heck, forget the dog. I might play with an abomination squeaky toy myself. Good for reducing cortisol levels.

LMFAO!

Hold the manifesto in one hand, reading it, while you hold the toy in another and squeak away!

Posted Image Love that image, Cantina!

This made me think of a screenshot I took in the Fade during my last playthrough. I installed an Anders-specific staff that's the same model as that one with the two dead cats on it. The creator of the mod called it the "Ser-Pounce-a-Lot & Mr Wiggums" staff and insisted that the cats be considered as plushies. Anyway, there's an option to make them have glowing Justice eyes...

Which led to the rather silly fact that, once inside the Fade, both Anders and the cats had glowing eyes:

Posted Image

Ta-da!

Coincidentally, I also somehow managed to rival him on this playthrough, as I was gunning for the Mage Hunter and Crowning Glory achievements (and thus, my Hawke turned out to be a serious douchebag). But I'm too traumatised by the experience to remember what his manifesto said. Heck, I went "I'm sorry, Andy! Posted Image" out loud at a few particularly cringe-worthy moments. I couldn't push the indignity so far as to rivalmance him though. Heck, the only LI I could bear inflicting that particular Hawke on was Isabela. I also couldn't bear to make Anders side with the termplars at the end...which means Posted Image

Ugh, happy thoughts!

Wouldn't it make more sense for Act 3 to be evening, considering the midnight thing? I also thought the progression between acts went "morning-noon-evening". Makes sense with the whole "end of game = end of day + apocalyptic sunset" correspondence.

Their market strategy is strange, really. Because Kaidan's fans already got tired of waiting for any official reason to waste some money...But all we see is yet-another-Liara-poster and N7 sneakers...

I honestly wanted both some ME and DA stuff to buy. Something that I could use or wear, something nice and good looking, that would not scream "oh look, adult woman wears 10$ fangirl balck T with a logo!".

I mean...damnit, BW, look at Cirque Du Soleil store (they are somewhere nearby in Canada - you don't need to go far). Bags, clothes, cups, kitchenware etc. I used their salt+pepper pair for a long time - untill we broke them. I'm using their backpack for something like 3 years - and it's still alive. Yes, it did not cost me 15$ - it was more like 80. But I'm ready to pay for good things. Why can't we have same grade stuff for our loved games - I have no idea.

/end of rant, sorry. 8)

And every Act 3 sky in Kirkwall has a sunset in it, so evening works. I tend to think of "evening" as the interval between sunset and full darkness, but that's just a quirk and probably not even close to the actual definition. "Daylight, but only just" works for Act 3, so I'll agree with you no matter what word you use.

So, I'm a long time lurker of this thread and sometimes I can't help but comment in places. What I found was the easiest way to get his Rivalry points maxxed out was to not flirt with him at all until Act 2, and to choose mostly agressive and Anti-Mage dialogue options until his Rivalry points were maxed out. There were still moments were my Mage Hawke agreed with him, but most of that stuff didn't happen until after his Rivalry points were maxed out. As far as I know, there isn't a way to get a rivalmance if you've already maxed out the Friend points. If you give mages to the Circle or if you keep agreeing with Fenris or the Templars while he's in the party, I ended up maxing out his Rivalry right before the Deep Roads Expedition.

I found that the Dragon Age Wiki helped me out a bunch when I decided to do a rivalmance. Hope this helps! ^^

Thanks for the advice.  I'll see what I can do to get agression.   I don't think I can get too rival-ly as I'm playing a warrior who supports Bethany.  The final aggression will happen at the end (if I have the heart to do it).  I am a sucker for being good.... each time I try to play a bad character, she/he just gets all goody-goody.  After I finish this playthrough, I am going to do a pro-templar runthrough.  I imagine that will NOT go very well. :P  I wanted to try the rivalmance because it seems one gets better interaction with Anders.  I'm finding this playthrough still rather bland (don't throw the tomatoes at me yet!!) and without the preconceived image that I have in my head of Anders, how he plays out is rather terse and whiny.  Not that he talks much to Hawke anyway, but his party banter is kinda depressing.  Anyway, romance initiated, time to try for a heartbreak! :crying:
