I half-expect DA:3 to rip my heart to threads even more. I can even forgive some of the dumbing down because of all this amazing story stuff and the characters are all awesome. Even Isabela *sigh*. Even Sebastian... I mean, I hate him, there must be something about him to elicit such strong dislike, right?

I found him dull and needy until the very end when he started wailing about the Grand Cleric and throwing a hissy fit and interrupting all the serious stuff going on. By the time he was all, "I'm gonna go tell on you and bring back my army," I was like, "GOOD! Don't let the door hit you!" *kicks him in the rear* In fact, I saw a vid of the Chantry explosion scene last night that didn't include him and I was all... where is Sebastian? Wow, this scene is SO MUCH BETTER without him. How do I make that happen? And then I remembered he was DLC.

So far, the Anders romance is my fav. It starts out so hot- and I just feel like it fizzles out towards the end. As I wrote in anotther thread, I know it's part of his story arc, but there is a lack of SOMETHING at the end.

I know Bioware beats us over the head with the fact that he did A VERY BAD THING (honestly my Hawke doesn't give a hoot about the chantry), but a relationship should be reflected in those last few scenes. If you decide that he has to die, Hawke is all "You must pay for what you've done" and stabs the dude in the BACK. Personally, I think if you had high friendship/romance, there should have been a stabby option with something like "I'm sorry it had to end this way, Anders...". At least look him the eyes as you kill him! GAH! And don't even get me started about the lack of romance in the last conversation. I know he did A VERY BAD THING. But how about a hug? Anything? These few things would have made the ending so much more satisfying for me...*sigh*

See.. this is why when I sided with the templars I let him LEAVE so he can die fighting and face to bloody face.
And then I let Fenris kill him during the battle cause I couldn't bring myself to do it *sad face*.  But at least he died defending mages, having said his sad piece about it... and not stabbed in the back.  The stabbing in the back bit really bothers me.  I will never ever pick it.

I don't think it's gonna be possible to have clothing only halfway through till there's a toolset unfortunately. :(

I know. I just find it terribly amusing that he walks in half dressed like, "Are we gonna bang or what?"

Yeah I'm not a huge Sebastian fan, either. He disapproved of EVERYTHING I did...and he was definitely good at stomping off in a huff. I'm sitting here making the hardest decision of the game, and he's over there throwing a tantrum. I just wish there was an option to go, "Okay, sweet. You want him dead. Point taken." ....and keep him in the party. Because god knows I need all the help I can get in the final battle. <_<

I agree.  I think the general consensus on the thread a zillion pages ago was that a big kiss (like ALL THREE OTHER LIS GET... grrr) wouldn't really fit the mood in light of what Anders just did.  Despite his "victory", he's not happy about what he's done.  He's not in the mood for kisses.  Okay, I'm cool with that.

But maybe just him reaching up to brush Hawke's cheek or something, complete with a tired smile?  That wouldn't be asking too much, would it?

I was thinking about this today and it hadn't occurred to me that the lack of a kiss was because he did a Very Bad Thing. Instead I was thinking that at this point of the final stretch he's so devoted to the cause, and freeing the mages (ala his final line about everything meaning nothing if they fail) that a passionate kiss would have been out of place. But either way, yes, some kind of touch at all would have been nice.

Sebastian pissed me off the whole time.  He was annoying.  And I am still miffed I do not get to stabby-stab him when he threatens me.  I mean, afterall, I can stabby-stab anyone else who dares threaten me!  Arg.
I only do his quests for the money and XP, seriously.  I'm so shallow.  And to ****** him off EVERY time because I never kill Anders.

Yes, coward, whine again... if you were in the chantry *I* would have set off the explosion just to kill you.  How do you like that!

That'd be satisfying!

THISSSSSSSSSSSS. Why would you do this to me? This is probably the most rational and entirely possible proposal for DLC I've heard and now I want it. I NEED IT. But I will never have it.

Everytime people propose DLC brainstorms, usually involving Anders, I think 'They would be great, but it would ruin X, Y, Z in the plot' or 'As much as I love Anders, they would never make a DLC for a character that you can kill..." But THIS, this would be such a poignant and perfect end to Hawke's story. And it will never be.

CURSE YOU!

I must agree with all that when you are in the courtyard, he speaks of running off with you ... a hug at least would be nice... or a kiss, damnit! I just forgave you for lying to me, I deserve smooches! Or we could go into one of those side rooms and get it on.

I loved Neverwinter Nights 2 where you got to get your freak on before the final battle. It was so poignant, so beautiful! Even if it was with a paladin (omg, they are outrageously self-righteous).

I saw a vid of it last night and it really bothered me as well. I guess somehow it makes it easier for both of them. I'm not entirely sure Anders COULD look you in the eye at this point, knowing that you've judged his actions worthy of death. But I could never do it. Ever. Just watching it made me cry.

Look at me, I've been lurking all day and all the sudden I'm getting chatty.

Oh, if Fenris betrays you in the fade ANDERS comes out if you take the violent option and tell him "If you betray me you'll pay for it." Fenris gets all "So you'll resort to threats" and Anders says, in Anders' voice, something along the lines of "you're a whiny hypocrite, yes you are!!"

Fits well with my theory that Anders is in Justice in the fade the same way Justice is in Anders in the real world. The dominant personality is the one whose home it is.

I hate bringing Fenris in the fade because last time he was so unbelievably angry (who can blame him?) and Anders seemed very unhappy with the prospect as well... but I'm going to do this just to get that dialogue!!!!!  Thanx for telling me, I have a sick obsession with their angry banters :P

When I was getting ready to go to the Fade, Fenris was all *heavy sigh* I'd rather not, but I will if you need me. I didn't take him, though, because I didn't want to drag someone along who didn't want to be there. I think I was somewhere in the middle of rival/friend at that point. Does he get angry once in the Fade every time no matter what? I also have a question about him at the end, where initially he's furious and no way am I going to help you save the mages, and then after... something? Anders judgment? Not sure, but he starts complaining again, and I said, "I thought you were in favor of freeing slaves" and he looked at the ground all shamed and said, "I..." and then told Meredith to stick it and started helping me. My rivalry with him was high at that point, near the end of the game it just went up, up, up, so I was REALLY confused.

Also, I have GOT to hear Anders say that line in the Fade!

Fenris was on the rivalry path.  And he was angry AFTER he betrayed me, like it was my fault cause I brought him there o.O
I think if he's on the friendship path he reacts differently.
And apparently bringing up the slave issue makes Fenris side with you if you're over 75% or something.
I personally was too much of an idiot to realise that and... well... killed him.

I don't think that makes you an idiot. I had no idea he even COULD turn on you. I just got lucky he was over 75% rivalry at that point, I guess.

Ooops... I'm sorry, don't hate me? *tries to make cute pouty face and puppy eyes so you forgive her*
LOL

It's just what I would want.  And it would make such perfect sense considering all their hoopla of "all of us eventually left the champion"... o.O How? Why? WHEN?  If I was Cassandra I'd be torturing Varric for details.
(probably wanting some naughty details of Anders' magic prowess in bed or Hawke's magic sexy tricks hehehehehe)
I'm a naughty naughty girl.  Yep.

I had him at 100% friendship by the end, not even on purpose, my character was a total do-gooder. But at the end I just didn't care about him at all. Throwing a tantrum right then pretty much made up my mind completely.

Well I was all sorts of sad-face and felt like an idiot when I read only that theoretically I could have made him stay.
But I can't bring myself to reload those saves... it was a mess all over the place.
So... eventually... I will be running a friendmance with Anders again and goo and gaah and not exist to the world for a week.  :P  For now, I am enjoying being EVIL muahaha.  I think that makes Anders lub me more cause I'm nice to him and an angry aggressive douche to all others (well, except Merrill... those puppy eyes, I haven't decided if to rival her or friend her... so easy to rival her, lol, just take her with during the forbidden knowledge and BOOM... excessive rivalry)

Maybe it's the dialogue itself that bothers me. Hawke sounds so cold. I wish there was a way to tell him that you are sorry that there was no other choice. I think Hawke looks and sounds more remorseful about shanking some NPCs in the game than she does killing her friend/lover. Posted Image

Anders/Justice in the fade is tops. I love how he's all snooty with Torpour. And Torpour gets my vote as "best incidental villain with less than ten lines of dialogue".

What? How did  I miss snooty anders? Also anyone know what "two forhgotten magics" means. I knew Feynriel is a dreamer, and thats really rare. Is it my spirit healer spec triggering that?

He's probably referring to seeing physical people from our world in the Fade, not just dream versions of them.  Or something like that.  It was said that whatever the Keeper did to send them there was something unusual.

And Miri, Torpor is pretty awesome.  I think I'm going to betray Anders in the Fade next time just so I can hear Torpor call Justice a prig.

Does he say that even without Anders?  I thought it had something to do with a mage possessed by a spirit, instead of a demon.

Really?

Personally, I've always been a fan of pants. Good things, they are. I mean, when you're casting a spell, that's gotta throw an awful lot of wind around. I'm sure a mage only has to do that once and have his skirt fly up before he learns to wear pants or risk everyone seeing him in his small clothes.

I think Anders is my least favorite character of DA II... which is a shame.
