There's a mod for PC that activates red glowing eyes like Meredith's when Hawke is in blood mage mode.  It is all the badasses:

I'm such a fangirl.  Just came up with this drabble, inspired by that gorgeous artwork up there. <3


He sat at the desk, his hand curled and chin resting upon it as he examined what he had written.  Just like any other writer, he was never sure if what he wanted to say was coming out on the paper.  He swiped a hand over his face and curled his hand again, one finger resting against his lips.  So engrossed in what he was doing, he didn’t hear her approach.

Soft arms wrapped around his neck and he leaned back, a smile touching his lips.  “You’re working too hard,” she said.  “Come back to bed.”

Couldn’t ignore that plea.

I made a seperate save for Anders and another for the Merril romance. My male Hawke is so sassy, he should definitely be gay for Anders, but on the other hand he somewhat has a connection with the cute elf...*sigh*

But I can't deny the lol-factor of the dumping scene ^^' I'm playing in the German version, and his voice actor is just to cute xD (nothing compared to Adam, for sure, but still ^^)

I just saw it on tumblr and it broke my f**king heart.

Wonder if this was the thing that Gaider wrote about? The thing that the whole writing team cackles evilly about periodically?

That...oh, dear lord.  That is horrible!



And if you read the wiki on him for Awakenings, it says "Anders takes great pride in his appearance and enjoys fine things."  So to see that this morph was buried in the game, possibly as something that might show up in the final Act, to see the total destruction from who he was in Awakenings to...to that...is just gut-wrenching.

Sudden thought... this probably was intended for Act III. I'm thinking of this banter in particular:

Varric: You've been glowering for days. Your face is going to get stuck that way.
Anders: My face is the least of my concerns right now.
Varric: That's because you don't have to look at it.
Varric: If you could see it from this angle, Blondie, it'd be at least a close second on your priority list.

Okay, so that's probably reaching.

But yes, it is a level of destruction that's just ... impossible to handle. I honestly don't know what I would have thought at the end of the game if Anders looked like this. I might have felt like the murderknife actually was a merciful way out for him. The way the game actually is, I never take the "stab him" option seriously, in part because it seems like he does still have life left in him (and I don't give a damn about the chantry, but that's just me and my rebel Hawkes). He strikes a pretty hopeful note when he asks you to run away with him. I don't know if it would be convincing with ... whatever is happening to his face there.

My headcanon ending definitely would be chasing Feynriel to the magisters' doorsteps looking for a cure or just... help... with him looking like that.

ETA: Either way, I agree with the OP on tumblr that it's still a face I love, even if it's also a face that plays every "despair" chord I've got in there.

Holy sh... what have they done to your beautiful face, Anders?
This is really the face of a broken man...and I can't really see that happen when he is in a romance with Hawke, at least not in the friendmance. Hawke would never let him become like this when they're living together!
If that would have been in the actual game, I would be even more depressed than I was already in Act 3. I would have been to heartbreaking to bear not only seeing him changing mentally but also physically...
