So the first big reveal will be in 4 days for Inquisition. How many are going to scan every inch of it for a hint of our favorite apostate surviving?

They have said previously that if you killed him in DAII, he will stay dead. So I wouldn't count on there being any hints one way or the other, so as not to step on any toes.

Unless it's Justice that takes his place for the people that did kill him. Now that...would be priceless. Posted Image

I was reading a quote from Gaider on one of the DA:  Inquisition threads of how "If you killed Anders in DA2 then he is dead.   But Justice is a totally different matter. "  And then I think he did an evil cackle.  ;)

Given the hidden screen shots that were revealed on this thread earlier, it does look like Justice if Anders were no longer home.  I also noted that they said IF you killed him.  Not even if you DIDN'T kill him he was dead.  So I am still hoping for a Hawke/Anders cameo if you let him live and a Justice cameo/battle if you did not (depending on the side you choose).  Just a couple more days and we might get a hint.  :bandit:

In addition to the, "If you killed Anders in DA2 then he is dead. But Justice is a totally different matter," i'm pretty sure that somewhere else (Twitter thread maybe), that DG said something along the lines of; if you kill him (Anders), he's dead, if you didn't, he isn't. (This was a later comment - more recent than the Justice one.)

I think it's a fairly safe assumption that this will be the case. I doubt there's any major role in DA:I for Anders; if you killed him, he'll probably at least get a mention. If you didn't kill him, a small cameo at least seems reasonable. He just seems too big a character to just write off completely.

On a slightly different topic; did anyone else find it a bit odd that when Cassandra was interrogating Varric, she nearly always referred to Anders as 'that Warden', the 'rebel Warden' and so on. Never seemed to mention apostate (that I remember), just Warden. Probably meaningless, it's just been bugging me.

They are posted on page 2257 of this thread.  There is some speculation that this was going to be his look in Act 3 which would explain Varric's comment about Anders needing to take care of his looks and Anders replying "My looks are the least of my worries."  It may also have been bits for the Exalted March that did not get included.  But I will bet you, that is Justice when he takes over Anders body.  The lines on the face look much like the ones on Kristoff's.

The new reveal is about 3 hours.  Here's the EA spot for it:

Thanks Dontwantanacc!  That's the best confirmation I've seen.  We need a picture of Anders and roses or something to follow that up.

As to Cassandra, it is probably to separate him from Merril more clearly.  And possibly because for a dedicated person like Cassandra, the act of abandoning his sworn oath to the Grey Wardens is a greater crime in her eyes than simply being an apostate.

Okay, this is all about spoilers so you have been warned.

Just caught the DAIII trailer from E3.  Morrigan got to narrate and was shown at the end.  Varric was at the beginning touching the burlap wrapped body and rope tied body of *someone* and mourning.  I sincerely hope this wasn't our DA2 character's cameo!  And there is a matched body next to it.  The body looks a bit small, so it could be a dwarf, but I haven't seen designers get the size of dead people right very often so I can't say for certain.  I'm wondering if it is Bartrand or some of the Dark Town carta or kids.

There is a scene with a red-headed, armored person at a map board, but they had the Seeker insignia so I do not think it is Alistair.  There was some hair braiding so it could be Leliana as the person was thin, but the armor is bulky (yay) so it isn't completely clear.  It might even have been Sebastian.  I think Warden's Keep was shown.  There was a grey stone fortress with large eagles (or hawks?) on top of it.  Anyone recognize it?

And there was definitely a Sten with full horns assaulting said keep.  They are implying that you will have the chance to save the world or destroy it.  So I have to wonder if they are looking to have the next one after this be a split game, rather like City of Heroes did Heroes and Villains, and World of Warcraft did Alliance and Horde.  You would play in the world you create, post-apocalyptic nightmare fantasy-scape or a brighter, living world that is rebuilding.

No real signs of Anders or Justice and I think some of the dead on the ground in the intro were darkspawn.  Did anyone else catch other details?  Speculations?

No sign of Anders indeed, or did I have missed something?

About that >> "If you killed Anders in DA2 then he is dead. But Justice is a totally different matter,"

Lets hope that if Hawke killed Anders, the cameo of Justice in DA:I will take acount of the choices made during the end of DA2. I mean, ok, Justice might become evil-vangeance but what if Hawke sided with the mages ?

Anyway if Justice is truly corrupted (whatever we have done) I expect him more to do something like try to possess an other mage, so he can come back no mather what, or to meet him in the fade, or maybe both?

This is ironic, I kill Anders in every playtrough and my Hawke always promise him that he/she won't let him lose himself to the vengance inside of him … I guess it's gona be to late, again.

But...but...they dared to cover Varric's epic chest hair!!! :( (even if he looks awesome in the new graphics:whistle:)

So...I didn't catch any sight of Anders...but I am a video ninja...I may try to go frame by frame to see just who is around that map table...

All I could make out were some heavily armored people except for the red head.  The thin braid implies a female to me and I am thinking it may be Leliana.  I think it is a female from the brief side shot.

Also, there was a farther shot of Varric with the body.  It appeared to be dwarf sized.  But in the close-up it also appeared to be female.  Hmm, we always assumed Bianca's namesake was already dead.  But then again we never considered whether or not he might have a kid somewhere.  idk.  I am quite curious who it is he is mourning.

The trailer implies weather effects.  And perhaps the ghost of a dragon or archdemon freed from the fade?  What did other people make of the falling sparks and the dragon?  The rent is as Sandal prophesied it.

DA:I trailer. Mind: blown.

I've never thought of Dragon Age as a particularly pretty game. DA:O is really bleh, and DA2 only somewhat improved with mods. This game, though...it looks gorgeous.

Now I just have my fingers crossed that they don't go the ME3 route and substitute a pretty game for a good one.

Was hoping for a slightly longer trailer than that but anything's better than nothing. It didn't really tell us anything we didn't know already (thank you leaked survey).

I didn't see any redhead - you sure it wasn't just Cassandra from a different angle?

Anyone else notice the picture on the table (it's in the bottom left when the map of Orlais is shown) - who's that supposed to be?
And what's the deal with the Seekers vs. Grey Wardens I wonder?

That's apparently a copy of "Hard in Hightown."

Oh, those ones. They don't really register as secret to me anymore. But yes, that definitely looks like a complete Justice takeover.

Also, mandatory squee for Varric in DAI Posted Image

i have to admit, i got super excited when i watched the DAI trailer. although i almost squeed when morrigan appeared at the end, i wasn't too keen on her look >.> i love her new outfit, especially the little details that are an obvious nod to her original DAO outfit, but her face looks completely different. i would love an appearance from any of the previous companions, i'm not picky :D

Gotta agree there: I really don't like Morrigan's new face. Something about it looks...off. Which is a bit of a shame.

So glad to see the Morrigan's going to probably play a huge role in the game. Yes, I thought her look was off, too. The lips were odd. What really irked me was Varric. His features are less exaggerated and made to look "prettier". That is, he looks more human and less "dwarvish". Not that there is a standard dwarf look, but he looks less unique now. I only watched the trailer once so don't remember much. But it looks like there's going to be a long slog about templars. Shooo, you templars, let the mages merrily run free, please? :) I do hope Justice doesn't return... or I'll be forced to play nasty and hunt him down. Sorry, you screwed up my Anders. :-P

I caught the "Hard in Hightown" book on my second pass. I am still thinking Leliana was in the keep with the dagger. Cassandra's hair is too short to have an encircling braid.

Suggestions for the people Varric is stooping over from others speculating: Merril, the barmaid and bartender of The Hanged Man.

I was worried it was Hawke and Anders, but someone said "If it's a girl, then it can't be Hawke". I guess it might not be *their* Hawke but it made me a bit sad since it dismissed female Hawkes all together, but slightly happy since it couldn't be Hawke and Anders since the dev's would have had to make Hawke more clearly Hawke and more gender neutral. (i.e. Champion's armor or something).

Yeah, a lot of people thought something was off on Morrigan's jaw-line/lips. But there is time to tweak that. More so since the dev's are pushing back the date a year. I am happier they are taking their time even as I am looking forward to playing.

I agree with hobbit_of_the_shire that Varric was prettied up too much. The cut across the face did go right over the distinctive bridge of his nose, but since they altered his outfit, I wish they had kept his hair the same. I struggled to figure out if it was Varric or a generic dwarf with a black powder rifle. Bianca looked too thin as she moved. But at least he is there, wherever "there" is other than in the next game.

Has anyone caught any other tidbits on the dev team's tweets?

Let me add a few from David Gaider:

David:  No matter what we show, for some fans it'll be like we went to their house and deleted their fanfiction.

Riley:  Or, on the bright side.  Made our fanfiction come true.  Huh?  No?  Too much to hope for?

David:  I'm not sure we can fit THAT much sex into the plot.

Kat:  I can't make it to E3 or watch coverage.  Would you please gently whisper all the DA3 secrets directly to me?  Thx!  <3

David: Certainly.  But only when you're tired and half-asleep, and you'll have to strain *really* hard to hear me properly.

Kat:  Already a step ahead of you, sir.

David:  Caption:  "Anders?  Anders, is that you??"

So he hasn't forgotten our favorite apostate!  Whether we will see him or not remains a mystery.  But David certainly likes to tease his fans.

I think we need to find out if the Exalted March got rolled over into DA:  Inquisition.  That might tell us a lot more about whether or not we would see a bit of the whole crew from DA2.  (I am wondering if the intro with Varric is from the Exalted March.)

Well, they're right: Hawke can be either gender, so if the corpse looks clearly female, then it can't be Hawke. Which is a good thing. I don't think it was meant to be dismissive of FemHawkes.

Actually...I can see that they were trying to make him prettier, but the result was like for Morrigan, IMO: something's not quite right. I thought DA2 Varric was handsomer.

As for his hair, isn't it possible that the lighting in that scene makes it look darker than it really is?

I know this is an unpopular onion but there are some pretty areas for Dragon Age:Origins

This one area in Haven was gorgeous.

Appearances usually change from game to game with graphics updates and engine changes. And we notice the changes, even the minute and unavoidable ones, because human beings (for the most part) notice faces. Merrill and Anders got some redesigning between DA:O/DA:A and DA2 that far outstrips Morrigan's changes, and despite all the fuss about it at the time, I don't see a horde of people complaining about it now.
