I wasn't thinking that any of us would want it to happen but if that was the only way to see him again, would you be satisfied with it?  But you bring up an interesting point.  What if it turned out to be Merrill?

I think the antagonist is someone who intentionally opened the veil, so I doubt it's Anders or Merrill. Anders wanted to free his people from slavery; she focused on helping her people with potentially beneficial technology used by her ancestors. Perhaps Asha'bellanar has something to do with it.

Oh, I agree he wouldn't set out to do it.  My impression was that the intensity of the fighting between the mages and the templars, especialy in a spot that has a thin veil already, caused it.  The sheer concentration of magic being used at a rapid rate ripped the Veil wide open.  I would expect Anders/Justice to be right up front in the fighting.

And I might not put it past Justice to want to make things "simpler" by forcing the absolutes of the Fade upon the chaos that is the world of Thedas.  Hmm!

So I have begun forays into writing, and one of my author friends online is also a big Bioware fan. She's finishing up K.O.T.O.R. right now and made the comment that she should get one of the voice actors she liked in the game to do her audio book.

I thought, wait, that's a possibility?

Ladies and gentlemen, I think the Dragon Age novels need to be on audio book! Or else we really need to get better at writing!! Oh my.

I have The Calling and The Stolen Throne on audio book...and I think Asunder was released on audio, also. Can't remember who did the audio books, though...

It has probably been mentioned before, but I heard this song on the radio again and I had to think about Anders right away. Especially if they were a rivalmancing and the warden would side with the templars at the end.

That cat doesn't look too happy.  Hmmm. Couldn't Anders, hypothetically, take care of Ser Pounce-A-Lot now? He's no longer an active Grey Warden, and he fulfilled his goal of trying to severe the Circles from the Chantry after what befell Karl. Anders and Ser Pounce-A-Lot travelling Thedas, and having adventures. B) I always thought Anders should go to the kingdom of Rivain, since the seers there might be able to help him better understand his symbiosis with Justice.

Dragon Age Inquisition character update (from an article on gamerzines.com):
"Dragon Age has its fair share of beloved characters, but in Inquisition it seems Leliana, Morrigan and Alastair only have bit parts to play, whereas Varric is actually a party member. Why did BioWare make that decision?

That’s a really good question and we haven’t announced all the party members yet so who knows who could come back. I think that because we have a different protagonist sometimes it came be perceived as weird if party members return. Even in Dragon Age: Origins to Dragon Age II, Alastair was somebody who you go adventuring with. You have all these experiences with him and that’s kind of a cool thing you remember – as a warden you had a relationship with Alastair and you helped him reclaim the throne potentially. Then to have him stroll in with Hawke, saying ‘Hey I was just hanging out with the Warden but he died so I’m going to go quest with you’ (laughs), it would be a little weird. We do have a lot of characters that we want to pull back in as long as it makes sense in the narrative. Varric and Cassandra working together as part of the Inquisition is a really interesting twist. In Dragon Age II we had all these situations with them in that dark room, where she’s interrogating Varric, and he’s just spinning these wild tales! So I think it’s an interesting contrast to have them working together to achieve a common goal. Where possible we try to bring characters back, as long as it makes sense.

Do you have scope to address the want of fans if a favoured character, like Morrigan, wasn’t in the game enough?

Fan feedback would only effect future releases, whether that’s downloadable content or future Dragon Age games. In a lot of cases, some of the comics have been able to address fan requests. A lot of fans wanted to see more of Alastair so we created this comic where he, Isabela and Varric went on all these crazy adventures. It gives fans more of a perspective into what they’re up to without us having to make a game. We’ll certainly look to address fan feedback in terms of what they want as much as we can."

So Alistair joins the list of people we can expect to see, and it is possible our cries could be heard in the DLC content for Anders if they don't have him completely written off. Shall we hope for the best?

I guess there was a live game play demo up on YouTube for Inquisition. It looks like they mixed Dragon Age and Skyrim. No leveling of the monsters, "hidden" spots for you to find, overhead tactical map, and lots more. No Anders still, but the "dead people" we saw Varric mourning are from some small town you have the chance to save. Very Varric specific it seems. Which is better than discovering that it is the death of your old characters and their companions.

Question: Is this considered a blog? They just posted a message that they are about to phase out polls, something else, and blogs. Are these just forum threads? Do they mean the Bioware staff blogs?

Nah, this is a forum...the blogs are something totally different. Considering that these forums are really the "heart" of the Bioware Social Network, I don't think they would get rid of them. Because if they did, I'd be really sad! Where else would us Anders lovers go to find people that understand that wonderfully flawed character? *huggles him and gives him a kitteh*

Yeah, that's what I was thinking. But you never know when sweeping changes might take place.

I remember the devs mentioning somewhere that it was a possibility Hawke or the Warden might possibly appear in Inquisition, and that gives me hope that their LIs will too.

So if Anders does return in DA:I, I hope it's by the side of my Hawke. [smilie]http://social.bioware.com/images/forum/emoticons/love.png[/smilie]

So...I finally got my hands on the comic series "Until We Sleep", and guess who got a mention in the second issue? I had to read the sentence a few times with a big smile on my face.

I keep envisioning an armored up Hawke running into a battle with Anders in a brief segment of cut scene.  Keeping hope alive, aren't we?

It came out earlier this year, back in the spring. Actually, all three of the comic book series were really good. The Silent Grove, Those Who Speak, and Until We Sleep are the names of the series. They were published by Dark Horse and written by David Gaider...so I would guess they would be pretty much canon for the DA Universe?

Yup. ^_^
Gaider once said that if our Hawke/Warden was in the game, it would be more than a "disappointing cameo." So maybe we'll get more than a cutscene and a short conversation. *knocks on wood*

Will we throw a virtual party in here if Anders gets to show up in a cut scene? Will it be a more subdued party if it turns out to be Justice only? And are we going to do something special to show our love for our favorite apostate on launch day? (I've noticed our thread is falling behind some of the other companions. I wonder if thread length/character support will influence the game designer's decisions...)

A party? I would like to... if enough people show up. I'll bake a bunch of Anders cookies just for the occasion.

But this thread has been so quiet lately. :( Where'd all the Anders love go? *watches tumbleweed roll by* Used to have so many people on here, back before I stopped lurking and decided to join in. Too little, too late I guess.

It's possible that everyone is getting prepared for the holiday season. The US does have Thanksgiving this Thursday, followed by the shopping madness of Black Friday.

Or, maybe people are busy playing on the new consoles...
