Hello! Thought this thread might be interested in hearing what Anders sounds like in Japanese. (Hopefully no one's linked it here before!)

The Tumblr's on a bit of an unannounced hiatus right now so unfortunately it only goes up to Act II; the current Hawke is an Anders-romancing mage. :)

I've always known that Japanese know how to VA....

I can't say anything about the text itself and translation, but I think that voices are good. Hawke sounds almost same ( r even better, lol).

Breaking news: Adam Howden has just tweeted that he's been doing VO for DA:I
so it's possible we may get some more of our favourite rebel mage....

Mind the date. Didn't he say that he was recording as Celene by chance?

Sadly, it's completely in-character of Adam to do this...why you gotta be this way man ;A; don't we suffer enough ;A;

ahhhh the pain of being a fan of an unconfirmed videogame character

Are you sure it's any worse than being a fan of the confirmed video-game character?..  ;)

Imagine what poor Morrigan, Leliana and Alistair fans have to suffer before The Fall 2014!

As someone mentioned in Twitter comments its more evil if he mentions he will voice for DA:I on April Fools to make us doubt him.

Honestly, I think there's a good chance he'll have a cameo at least, if you left him alive. He'll reference his "wife" or family if Hawke ran away with him.

It's more like they're going to reference both at some point. NPC ambient banters or rumors.

Some of party members could potentially mention him and his heroics once or twice (Varric, Cassandra, Viviene,Cullen(??) ).

That post is followed up by "Alas, April Fools Day is over."  So I'm thinking not.  Sadness.

@Gyrefalcon Tell him that he's evil, but we love him nonetheless. ))

I honestly really enjoyed beheading or banishing Anders, I felt his actions completely irredeemable and an act of terrorism. Despite the flip flop stance of the Chantry, killing a ton of innocents was just disgusting. I've let him go and forgiven him a couple times in real angry/radical pro-mage Hawke playthroughs, but personally I can't even enjoy his romance or him OOC because uuuugh, he's as bad as Morrigan at manipulating the good will of Hawke to their friend. It's also going to earn many a violent outburst from both Templars and Mages that will end in a bloody way. Even if it's needed, it's still abhorrent.

It wasn't by his own accord that Justice was corrupted and therefore ruined Anders, himself. I pity him for that, but he will not stop... and killing him then or letting him go were the only options. I would have imprisoned him and defeated Vengeance in the Fade, then executed him. Too bad you can't do that.

In character, it varies, obviously.

You mean stabbing Anders?  He is not beheaded.  And people feel betrayed because the game doesn't let you choose the outcome.  Anders is the flip side of Isabella.  Both betray you, both wind up plunging the city into flames.  But that little twist in the writing and suddenly you are outside of the events, nothing you do can change it.

I hated more that there were 3 year time jumps where apparently Hawke just went to balls and drank tea instead of trying to do anything to improve the state of the elves, mages, Ferelden refuges, nothing.  Clearly horrible abuses were going on, but Hawke didn't do anything about it.

Go back over over the game.  Look at your companions, look at all the events Hawke went through. Consider that you are drawn to people who have the same level of darkness in them that you do.  Bearing that in mind...maybe Hawke is crazy?  The choice of companions does not bode well.

Indeed, stabbing. Sure, Isabela betrays you, too! This topic isn't about Isabela, though :P Depends on my playthrough on how I treat her in the aftermath. I personally get irate at her actions as well.

The time jumps irked me for many reasons. Your point is one, the other is that there is no obvious signs of time passing. No change of clothes, no changes in scenery, no new vendors... nada! There's a mod that changes NPC clothing in between acts on the Nexus. Thank gosh for it.

Hawke's blindness, whether on purpose or not is irritating. You'd think she'd have more insight/intuition (especially as a mage) when you do his quest to obtain the ingredients for the bomb. Perhaps if you found out and stopped him, it would be too late as it was given to someone else? Not sure.

....And here you are, in the Anders' thread, blaming him for not allowing Hawke to change her clothes and preventing devs from giving more attention to the timeline scaling. Do you think he was the one in charge for The Cave location design as well?..

Yes. His dashing good looks had distracted the devs from polishing the game before release, obviously.

You have a good point on the lack of change over time.  No fresh paint on the street stands, no changes in fashion in a decade.  There was a bit of a Gilligan's Island or Scooby-Doo feel (characters never change their outfits) to the game.  But someone had posted pics of Anders that were locked in the computer edition where he starts to really look worn and affected from carrying another spirit in his body.  I do think they would have been helpful so the player could easily see he was spiraling.

Also, you are suffering a bit of Player (Out of Game) Knowledge and Character Knowledge.  *You* know the formula for gunpowder.  But in Ferelden, it is a jealously guarded secret.  However, it is the interaction with the Warden from Awakenings that set up the ability for Anders to gain access to the dwarven Lyrium bomb constructions (and since he was a Grey Warden and charming when he wanted to be it's believable that he could have gotten the details out of the bomb-building dwarf).  And he had a secret tunnels and things in the city as well, he may have gotten close enough to hear the requirements for the Kunari black powder...or traded with one to get it.  I like that tie-in.  I still love the game over-all, but it has looked like it got rushed out the door as soon as the companions were done.

It is also why I am very grateful they are taking an extra year on the next one.  Spring is here and we are closing in on the chance to see what happens in Inquisition.  :)

Yup, my periods were irregular so I was clueless.

Yup, that is my plan for the fanfic

PS: I don't think a lot of people have seen this hilarious scene with Fenris, Anders and Hawke. Is not on the Wiki, I only found out by accident
Watch Hawke, Fenris and Anders on 4:43, it is priceless!  :P

I haven't managed to spot the "haunted-looking Anders" pics (although they are in the thread somewhere), but I did come across this link which has a few lines from Anders I missed in my play-throughs.  Perhaps it will entertain you as well.

I have made this video a sanctum of love and Anders/Male-Hawke-goodnes:

My very grumpy (he was the best lol's ever) warrior fell in love with Anders at the first sight and is like a kitten with him. Anders seems to appreciate a man with...hm...big sword.

I followed friendship path because I am a softy who loves underdogs too. And Anders is adorable

About one hour, from very beginning to the bitter end. Hope you enjoy :wizard:

The first?

And the later is lvl17 version. They are from Warrior dlc-pack. The blue armor is Grey Warden armour from Legacy dlc (and my absolute favorite).
