So while I, as a bisexual member of the BSN appreciate what Gaider was trying to do, the fact that he's trying to pretend he didn't say certain things is pretty annoying.
Yep, that's what I was going to say. And which is worse, it only adds more misunderstanding between the straight and LGBT community parts. Many of my friends (as tolerant as they are) saw it as a foolish attempts to please the 'gay' community. Probably he did change his mind, but that does not look right.
I like the idea with this contest, but I doubt that I'm in. I'm not a native speaker, writing in English is not always easy to me. But probably I'll try something too.

We'd love to have you.
There's no better way to practice another language than by writing in it. And as a judge I promise not to be too harsh. I've proofread for ESL writers before too so I might provide something useful for you.

If you guys want, I can change the thread title to promote this contest. That might increase traffic a bit.
Yay! Thank you, SurelyForth!
Do change it back later, though. Okay, here's my entry called "My Fourth Time" which is 250/250.
“Did I ever tell you about my fourth escape attempt?” Anders asked Varric in the dwarf’s new private quarters at the tavern. An ornate chair sat at the head of a thick oaken table, at least Anders thought it was oak. He wasn’t into tree innards. He left that to the elves.
“Well, they had us on the island outside the tower practicing basic magic. The idea being that we couldn’t do much damage to the sparse grass there.” Anders helped himself to some of the fruit present. Having been hungry before, he didn’t pass up a free meal. Justice grumbled in his head as the spirit often did, but Anders shot back that his friend wouldn’t mind.
“So Blondie, what happened?” Varric said as he brought out a new wine to share.
“Simple. When my turn came, I used ice magic and made a fine, narrow stretch of it.” Anders took a sip; it was a nice vintage. He wished he could have more, but Justice was mentally begrudging him even one cup.
“I don’t get your punch line, Blondie.”
“No? All I had to do was get a running start and I slid almost all the way across the lake! By the time the templars thought to chase me, the ice melted and dunked them while I climbed to safety.”
Varric laughed. “I knew I kept you around for a reason, Blondie. We should do this more often.”
“I’d like that,” Anders said as he finished his wine.

I know it's a very limited flash fiction length, but surely a few other fans are up to the challenge.

It's a really short fiction length. You might get more writers by upping the word count a bit.
Either that or the fans are just waiting to see if DA3 manages to change everything we know about mages, the circle and the chantry.
Slightly overcount even after trimming, and not Anders-centric, but here's my fic 'Libertarian'
Uldred had not actually said Jowan would be tossed from the group if he did not bring in some new recruits, but ...
“Morning, Ser Cullen,” Jowan said as entered the Library. “Have you seen Solona?
“Apprentice Amell is in the side alcove, studying. Don't disturb her. I'm watching you.”
“I'll just sit over there, and wait for Sol,” Jowan said.
Jowan rolled his eyes when Solona finally stepped around the shelves, doing up the top buttons on her robes. 'Studying', idiot Templar. He stood up and stepped in front of her. “Hey, Sol.”
“No funny business. I'm watching you!” Ser Cullen called out.
Solona waved cheerfully at Cullen and then smiled at Jowan. “Morning, did you want something?”
“Yes I ...” he stopped and a number of thoughts went through his mind. Irving's star pupil. Uldred teaches Blood Magic. Who else can I ask? She likes Templars. She's my friend. She likes the Circle. Blood Magic. He stood aside. “No, nothing. See you at lunch later?”
“Sure, bye now.”
Jowan sat down and started banging his head on the table.
“If you break it, I'm not fixing it,” drawled the man who had just stepped out from the same alcove Solona came from.
“Hey!” Cullen yelled. “Jowan! Anders! I'm watching you! Don't do ... anything!”
Anders smirked and waved at the Templar almost exactly like Solona had while muttering 'idiot prig' under his breath. Jowan looked at him and started smiling. Hates Templars. Really doesn't like the Circle. Jackpot!

I like it. Jowan's view of Anders and the other people in the Tower.

NEWS HAS ARRIVED!!
Look closely and you will see FemHawke! in the trailer. Looks like you can customize Hawke's look for DA: Inquisition. If Hawke is there, surely his/her companions of choice can't be far behind...

why? Do we have more news?

No. Because we don't have more news, actually. Although I think the thread name should go back to normal. I'd say the flash fiction contest is over. Only 2 entries and no judgements.

We probably don't want any more news. If the devs give the public what they want then we could probably end up with Anders/Justice as the big bad.
Although that would liven up the thread again.

Heh, that's pretty cute, Magick. I'm pretty sure that sums up how Fenris feels about Anders.

I just stumbled upon this topic, and just felt like saying it makes me really happy there's such a huge topic of people who don't infact hate Anders. I hope topic resurrects ain't seen as capital offence here O___<
So to be on topic, I'm romancing Anders in my replay, should I go for rivalmance or friendmance? Can't decide, and I wanted to try a rivalmance but I can't be mean with him. How mean does the rivalmance actually get and which one of the two offers better character development?

Anders is kinda lost in rivalmance, its not too bad if you don't pick the aggressive options and agree with him now and then. I personally prefer the friendship route as he is more like himself and trusts Hawke more. 100% friendship with Anders unlocks unique and interesting dialogues.

That would absolutely make no sense specially if you took the friendship route with Anders.

Well, that Justice simply gets out of control as everything goes to pot isn't that much of a leap. Running away with Anders doesn't really solve his issue. With the upcoming Mage/Templar war and the weakening of the veil to the Fade, Anders could simply wear himself out between guilt and fighting the good fight so that he doesn't have the strength to keep Justice in check.
I am hoping that the super arch tracking system might allow for the carry over of Anders' endings over into the new world and they are just not making a bunch of noise about it so that the fans of the game who did not like him don't get riled up when he won't appear in their play-throughs while those who spared him will. Not too long until we find out.
As for the friend/rivalmance, it may be well worth your time to try a non-mage friendship play-through. There are some nifty lines that come up only on that route.

Giving him the Tevinter amulet was pretty hilarious though. Picking all the red options made Hawke seem so awkward giving his boyfriend a gift. XD

I need your help! I need that to test one thing in a Keep beta.
I can't say much details before it hits open release (which is soon enough, and then we're very likely to have something to discuss
).
Could anyone tell me the most reliable source about what actually happens with Anders on rivalmance+templars? Dev's comments, posts, etc.
From what I know, he does not survive the final battle. Or does he? Or, may be, his death happens after the game ends?
So, here are my questions.
1. What happens to Anders if Hawke sides with templars on rivalmance? Is he alive by the end of the game?
2. Does that rival goodbye scene break the ongoing romance?
3. Does not following him into exile (on friendship) break the romance?
4. Is it possible to break the ongoing romance during the Justice quest\QB3?
I had only played friendmancing & supportive Hawke, it can't be helped
, but I need to know more.

I can tell you what actually happens in-game
1. What happens to Anders if Hawke sides with templars on rivalmance? Is he alive by the end of the game?
It varies:
1: Hawke murderknifes Anders (dead Anders)
2: Hawke lets Anders go - Anders comes back to fight Hawke in the Gallows (dead Anders)
3: Hawke convinces Anders to fight against the mages with the Templars - Anders is technically alive at the end of the game. It's implied (but not stated clearly) that Anders will kill himself after the end of the game. He's never flagged as dead.
2. Does that rival goodbye scene break the ongoing romance?
No.
3. Does not following him into exile (on friendship) break the romance?
Yes - on both friendship and rivalry the romance ends.
4. Is it possible to break the ongoing romance during the Justice quest\QB3?
Not actually during the quest - but in the next follow-up conversation you can definitely break it off.

I agree that would make no sense what so ever, and finnally got a online pass account so I can be in this thread, yay.

From what I got it doesn't seem to complete it. I rivalmanced him and got him to join Templar side, and there was a goodbye in the end (with a kiss) but no flirt option and Varric didn't say at the end that Anders stayed. So possibly it breaks the romance, but not in any kind of clear way with a broken heart symbol.2. Does that rival goodbye scene break the ongoing romance?
I found the rivalmance to be pretty awesome actually. It confuses the hell out of poor Anders. xD Also, I liked that it got him to keep considering himself separate from Justice and fighting his influence as much as possible (you can even get him to doubt his plans for the chantry until Justice interrupts), whereas in the friendship route he seems to be okay with being taken over/merging in the end.

I thought that not mentioning him in epilogue actually means that he's dead, and that's an explanation I've seen in some dev's comment (must be DG).
I've never heard anyone saying that it's some sort of bug. Evidently for some reasons rivalmanced Anders is not with Hawke by the moment Varric leaves him\her. Considering he's so depressed at that goodbye scene before the battle, I'd think of worse.
We'll see if they change anything about that matter by the time Keep becomes open. They do change things all the time as they update. As I've said, I can't point at the issue I think I see. Probably it's just me, and there's nothing wrong with it.

In friendship he is not taken over, he takes control to the point that he only loses himself when fighting Templars. Evidently Anders glows on lesser occasions on friendship path.
