Yeah, glad the bf doesn't play this game.  He always tries to play very goodie too shoes smartasses, but I fear he'd kill Anders. Just on the count of how annoying I've been all fangirl-like about Anders.  Hehehe.

My boyfriend hates everyone in every game ever, or at the very least is completely ambivalent towards them. He never really does the romances (although he did romance Fenris with his femage -- not sure whether that's a red flag or not :P). I finished the game a day before he did, and I was an absolute nervous wreck by the time it was all over.

He got to the end, saw what happened, shrugged, and shanked Anders in the spine like it was nothing.  I sat there watching the scene, Anders's sad acceptance and resignation - even relief -- at his Fate, the body flop to the ground and the eyes slowly close... I just about died. I decided at that point I was probably never going to be able to kill him. It was just to frakking depressing. :crying:

TLDR: My boyfriend's a jerk! :P

Nevermind, apparently boyfriend would totally side with mages and be cheering Anders and chopping down templars left right and center.
o.O He really doesn't like religious fanatics.
(I just asked him lol)

My boyfriend was not fond of Anders being mean to Merrill, but he listened to her in the end and has spared him both times he's played.

He just started another male Hawke, who he swears is going to be the most offensive human in Thedas and Anders will hate him. Good luck with that, dude.

Also, some probably NSFW Anders art that is making me blush. For some reason:

I don't know why people are pissed that Anders goes to defend the mages. He's not a coward! It's awesome that he does that instead of going on the run. It's part of why I admire him so much. It's... beautiful.

@shiba5, this seriously cracks me up to no end. Ironically, my husband resembles Fenris. Yet it's Anders I can't get enough of. *is a bad person*

I have not been squeeing to him, however, because he is still playing Awakening -- for the first time. O.o And I will not spoiler him. Although I find his reactions to Awakenings hilarious. Anders is practically his favorite character. The first time he clicked on a statue and Anders started talking about how hot Andraste was, he said, "This guy is awesome!" and hasn't changed his mind since.

He has NO IDEA what's in store.

Nah, but I think he thought it was like ME2 where he was going to get some achievement for keeping all the companions. He didn't like Seb either.

Oh my.
My boyfriend just said that he would hate the chantry and templars so... he supports Anders regardless of how awesome or annoying he is.
The boyfriend always does the romances, always plays male characters and we always giggle and debate which woman is the hottest or best choice.  He tried all the girls, went for Jack in the end cause I have such a thing for her.  Now he says he's going to replay and ignore them all cause he wants happy sexy times with the blue girl in ME:3.
And he always cares about the characters, sits there pondering what the best choice is, who to save... kills douchebag slavers and whatnots... it's beautiful.

Oh, I agree. I think it was more... he was mad at Anders for blowing up the Chantry. He wanted the man to get out of his sight. So when Anders came back, it really pissed the hubbers off. I think it was more of a "Get out of my sight before I change my mind" than him being mad about Anders wanting to defend the mages.

Conversation went something like this:

Husband: What the hell is he doing here? I told him to leave.
Me: He just wants to heeeelp. :crying:

I'm not sure if this was ever cross-posted, but Dolmheon created this pretty awesome piece of Hawnders fanart a few days back, and it comes in wallpaper size! :)

I know I did. Ugh.

My husband says to me, "This game seems darker than the other one... does it get any better?"
Me: "No. It gets worse."

I posted that way back when, as it's pretty much perfect for my canon Hawke, who is a 2hander with the default hair. It bears reposting, though, because...awesome.

This was posted before, but I love it still. Now I just need to imagine Hawke has long hair and it will be perfect. Yay for warriorHawke/Anders!

My Anders romances are always mages... But maybe eventually, after doing my 2 canon playthroughs plus some naughty sarcastic romance with Isabela and maybe one with Merrill, I might do a warrior. I never see the point of a warrior *sigh*... I can't open lock, I generally don't like 2 warriors in my party and I love Fenris and Aveline... it just never made sense to me. But it'd be fun to fight as a warrior.

Probably. He's seriously pro-mage, too, which bodes well.

I absolutely love playing warriors. I love being the first to rush into the middle of battle and chop a group of badguys in half before they know what hit them. Try to hurt my friends will you? CHOP! Also, whenever Anders is being attacked by a newly spawned horde of baddies, I can get mighty, very bloody, vengeance. =D

Plus, there is something I like about the warrior romance. Fighting for the mages despite not being a mage myself and all. Though, rogues get that too.

To add to the Anders playlist. Metal Heart by Cat Power

And the lyrics if you're interested.

It speaks to me about the plight of mages and the deal with Justice and the inner conflict of that decision. Also, its by Cat Power, a name Anders would approve of.

My rogue was the only templar-siding playthrough. o.O Cause I can't bare a mage turning against her own, ugh.
Anyway... I always am the first to chop down baddies... my AOE spells lock everyone in place and weaklings die.  Especially with me, Anders and Varris... poor Fenris just gets to chop down Elites or Bosses and newly spawned groups.
I *heart* AOE.  It's why I played an archer rogue (but that sucks at the Arishok battle ugh!).

I agree. The warrior commands the battlefield, and you get a real sense of power and authority when you're zooming around indiscriminately turning slavers into mannequin parts. I would mostly leave Scythe off cooldown specifically so i could rush to companions (Anders's) defense. :P

My group makeup for most of that game was me, Fenris, Anders in Vengeance spec and Varric, and we just steamrolled everything in our path, for the most part. I find it weird how a lot of fights in this game as easier if you just go all out DPS and forget about trying to tank/heal. It was a tonne of fun though.

I don't know if I'll ever side with the Templars though. Not anytime soon, anyway. I still think warrior gets the most visceral kills, but that's just me. I like to be in their face when I am hacking them up. Meanwhile, Varric lays down cover fire and Anders does his magical thing.

This. I adore Scythe-ing in to save Anders.

I really like what they did with the rogues for DA2. Dagger rogues are so super fun. And with the vendetta and back to back, my Rogue Hawke rolls with Isabela and we go tank free. So its usually Anders, Merrill and Isabela in my rogue's party. We don't need no silly tanks.

They also made mages super fun to play. But I have a warrior on the back burner here. I'm reloaded my rogue game back to Act 2 so I could romance Isabela instead of Fenris. I like being friendly with Fenris, I'm having trouble getting into his romance. Izzy is just a better match for my rogue.

Now I really have to make up a warrior.

My first Hawke was a rogue, because I really wanted to play a non-mage/super-protective-of-mages character, and I liked all that zipping around on the battlefield. Now I'm playing a mage and attempting to rivalmance Fenris.

But I think I did that all wrong because now I always end up standing next to Anders while we both zing spells, with a perfect view of all his sexy mage moves, and it just makes me want to romance him all the harder.

Hehehehe... You guys have convinced me I ought to try eventually a warrior. o.O Maybe a warrior for Merrill? Defender of the mages, romancer to the cute innocent elf girl who is so very clueless?
Hmmm... might work. Afterall, a romancer of Merrill would have her and Anders all the time which is very difficult to excuse as a mage. And I don't know if I want the whole dual-dagger rogue business... so not my thing.

That sounds adorable. It could work too. Usually my warrior had Merrill, Anders and Varric with her. Well, except when Merrill would puppy eyes at me for not helping her. Then I would alternate in Aveline or Fenris.
