And on a tangent (yes, I am tangent girl!), is anyone else completely horrified by some of Sebastian's party banter? During my last playthrough, Sebastian told Fenris (with Hawke and a romanced Anders standing right there) that they should turn Anders and Merrill over to the templars, that it was the Maker's will. Even Fenris was like "you take that up with Hawke, dude, I'm not going there."

I had Anders in my parrty and he went, "Hey, I'm right here" and something about the templars not catching him yet. And my Hawke was a mage too. No wonder not even Fenris would back Seb up.

I got that as a rogue too... sadly Anders wasn't with.  Either way I wanted to stabby-stab Seb when I heard that (I heard it in both playthroughs, sigh). I was proud of Fenris cause the first time he HATED my guts and yet he wouldn't turn me or Anders in.  Gotta admit, the elf has some loyalty.
Also gotta give it to Anders for not lynching me in my sleep for sending mages to the circle... that was kind of him.

What is the quote about the socks anyway?

Hawke: "Are those...? Ugh, a mage and a grown man and Anders can't pick up his own dirty socks?"

I thought it was a nice throwback to the Alistair/Wynne banter about dirty socks.

Aww man!  He takes his boots off during?!   BUMMER.

Yeah, boots only!  I'd totally insist on it!

I love the mention of him being a mage, as if that should have some bearing on him picking up after himself. I'm just imagining him standing up on that balcony of his, orchestrating a bunch of dancing mops across the floor below. :wizard:

Hahaha, back at home I sleep on a twin sized bed. Sometimes my mother's dog jumps up on it when I am sleeping, but she's a shih tsu so it's just gross dog smell I have to deal with.

I usually wake up with all five of our cats stretched out and taking up the whole bed (or lying on top of me). But I forgive them and allow this because they're snuggly and purry and warm..... /end crazy cat lady

Also, Anders walked all the way from Darktown. I don't want those boots anywhere near the bed. Once they're sent for a good cleaning, then he and Hawke can talk about it :P

I don't know why people are pissed that Anders goes to defend the mages. He's not a coward! It's awesome that he does that instead of going on the run. It's part of why I admire him so much. It's... beautiful.

Oh, I agree. I think it was more... he was mad at Anders for blowing up the Chantry. He wanted the man to get out of his sight. So when Anders came back, it really pissed the hubbers off. I think it was more of a "Get out of my sight before I change my mind" than him being mad about Anders wanting to defend the mages.

Conversation went something like this:

Husband: What the hell is he doing here? I told him to leave.
Me: He just wants to heeeelp. :crying:

Hahaha, I had that exact conversation with my husband, except I think I said, "You're his BUDDY! You helped him plant that bomb and everything!" And then my husband went <_<.

My husband thought it was awesome to rebel against the Chantry, but tactically moronic to blow it up.  I told him visionaries have no time for tactics.

Its just a few meters away from the door to his clinic to go through that sneaky basement entrance! Plus maybe at the clinic he wears those paper booties like in hospitals... made of parchment paper?

I say he can keep his boots and the feather pauldrons anytime.

I only have a chihuahua but when he sleeps with me it still feels like I'm about to fall off the bed... (sorry that was offtopic) Cats are nice because they don't care where you are, they just sleep ON you. No wonder Anders is a cat person.

LOL @ the artwork! That's so true about big dogs...I got two GSD's and they love nothing more than to jump into bed to either wake you up or push you out of bed so they can have it for themselves.

My ending was marred by all the mistakes I made and all my "I love you Anders, squee" disappeared when I had to kill Fenris.  That was so hard to take.  I still went on with it, killed Meredith, but my heart was not happy.  Not at all.  I care about all but Sebastian in my games, it was so horrid to kill one of my companions.
It didn't even have the beautiful poetic justice of Anders dying in my templar playthrough... I just felt soiled and awful and... ARG.
Must redo canon Anders, must! (that's Hawke from that playthrough in my avatar... she's sexy, I wonder if I'll make her look different...)

Leave Fenris at home, do all of his personal quests, give gifts, build up your friendship with him.  Then you'll be able to convince him to join the mage side.  It helps with the *squee* that your companions stand by you.  For my canon, I think I'm going to simply fail to recruit Sebastian, so the original six are all at my side. Whee?

On another note, I was surprised by the Justice hatin' several pages back.  Don't forget how really awesome Justice is (was?).  And Anders is (and was).  But the merging of the two did bad stuff, and neither of them are who they originally were.

I am curious about the socks! I wonder where they are... behind the ugly tevinter statue? Left balled up in our bed ? (ewwwww) In that stinky urn? (double ewwww)

I finally caught up with the thread (rush at work and I miss something like 30 pages?!?) I keep reading of Anders breaking heart and the angst and the depression. Not that I don't want to wallow in sadness and angst, I did most of my playthrough but once the chantry went JENGA! I felt like it was time to jump with Anders. Embrace that change that everyone warns you about and chantry be damned enjoy that exhilarating feeling of winning that battle with Meredith and run into the sunset together.

My first character spent the whole game so tormented by having to make all these difficult choices. She supported the mages, but then the mages kept doing all these things that made it difficult to defend them to other people, the war with the Qunari, and she was thrown right in the middle of it all. Everything sucked, and then Anders asked her to help him gather components and she knew immediately that he was lying to her (I could hear it in his voice, subtle, wonderful voice acting), so she spent most of Act III going WTF? Why won't you tell me what's going on? And then Anders started hinting at bad things to come and talking like he wasn't going to be alive much longer... and by the time the Chantry blew... my character was shocked for a moment, and then it was just like this huge crushing wave of relief swept in. Like, "okay, THAT'S what I've been dreading. THAT happened, now all I have to do is deal with it. I know how to deal with things like this; pick a side and fight it out." It was so much better for her to finally be able to make a choice and feel good about it (because killing all the mages because of one apostate's actions? Um, no.). Also, everything Anders said started making perfect sense. You know, she spent the whole game frustrated and feeling helpless, and all the tug of wars were driving her crazy, and yeah, maybe this IS what it's going to take. Let's do this thing, honey. And honestly? It felt like the happiest ending I could imagine after dreading how horrible things could turn out for so long, being able to run off into the sunset with Anders.

Yeah, that bites. I always hate having to kill party members. I'm always "Noooooooooooo!" And then I try to go back and see if I can avoid it.

Heh. Any canon I have at all will feature Anders as a romance. :) Your Hawke is very pretty! That's my Hawke I used on my first playthrough on my icon, too.

I was never a big fan of Justice in Awakening, actually. I found him a dull killjoy and never really took him anywhere - the same with Nate and Velanna. Anders, Sigrun and Oghren were my besties, so the conflict in having my favourite and second least-favourite characters from that expac return as a combined entity was a bit... well, weird. Since Justice doesn't actually exist anymore it's a little easier to handle; I actually think Vengeance is far more interesting and exciting than Justice ever was. :?

Haha.  I was trying for rivalry cause you know, Fenris hates mages :P.  But we agreed on too much!  It was +rivalry, +friendship... ARG, do you hate me or do you like me? Make up your mind!
Anyway, will definitely not bring him for mage quests, it's not hard, Aveline is pretty cool.  And I don't care if my brother frowns, the douche!  After my templar runthrough I know exactly who to bring and where.
Hence the... must redo.
I keep wondering if I should skip Sebastian... but I like meeting Leliana and all the money and the killing of assassins and that "felicitate me" scene is too awesome to skip!
I wish I could kill of Seb before the JENGA moment.

Your Hawke is so pretty.  All my follow-up Hawkettes are much more bad-ass looking and less adorable feminine stuff... ah, we shall see.
May dark skin, white hair for Anders and white skin, dark hair for Fenris?  Or the other way around?
I have such a thing for the white hair option in this game, it's not even funny!

One of these playthroughs, I will sleep with Jethann. I love him. So far, Hawke has only pretended like she's going for it to mortify poor Bethany.

I really wish there was an option for an Anders/Hawke/Zevran threesome. While I'm certain Justice would protest, I think it's just what Anders needs in Act 3.

I didn't sleep with Jethann on my Anders playthrough, but on my Fenris playthrough I sufficiently mortified Bethany. Love it so much.

FOR THE LULZ!! Also, Jethann is the best :')

You know... I felt bad for Justice.  We got along and I took him sometimes, but he could not win against Oghren!  And I don't generally play with 2 warriors, always 2 mages.  Velanna stayed home some times, I mostly prefered Anders but sometimes brought her along for the GRRR lol.  And I brought her for the final battles so she'd survive (like that even mattered, SIGH).
But Oghren and Sigrun were almost always with me!  Loved them to bits.
Nathaniel was meh.  I liked that he had archery, it was cool, but still... meh.

Yes, after Denerim, this was a let-down. I reloaded since it was not anything worth saving lol.

In my opinion he hoowdwinked you just as he had hoped to hoodwink others, perhaps you wee blinded by the romance.  His actions were almost a deflector for all of the other bad actions by apostate mages in the game, as in 'put it all on me' when he was just one of many that could be used to justify a hard line by the templars.  I was a mage in the game and at the point of decision i may have decided to support the mages or I may have said I will not choose (can't remember if that option was a valid one)  but after Orsinios little trick there was not much doubt in my mind that this group of mages were more rotten to the core than other wise.

I say it again: Kirkwall = Hellmouth. There's just no other explanation for all the weird, ****ed-up **** that happens there on a near-daily basis.
