Sorry for interrupting, but I've got a question. Is it necessary for Hawke to flirt with Anders in Act 1 to initiate the romance in Act 2? It's just that flirt options in Act 1 are on the OOC side for me... Still, I want to re-load and pick them - if that's obligatory for the romance - while I'm not that far yet...

Not sure. I only ever flirt with him. But there are less OOC flirt options in the first act, if you don't go the overt flirt in the first two instances Anders will flirt with YOU instead, and that's kind of sweet (you have to use the nice option, not the sarcastic one, though).

Thanks, that is good to know! I was afraid there would be no Act 1 flirt options after the 'Justice chose a nice looking body' one.

Isabela is the only one I've had problems with. I can't even get the rivalry thing with her *sigh*. Maybe if I flirt and ****** her off *sigh*.

Isabela's easy if you just choose the sarcastic option for EVERYTHING. I even got friendship points when she turned on me in the Fade as I made a sarcastic response where I asked if I should just stand there or whether she'd prefer to stab me in the back and she said that was sweet. Then, of course, telling her she could keep the idol (which I was totally lying about) netted +15.

Flirting with Isabela earns you RIDICULOUS amounts of friendship points. I got +15, then +20 in quick succession. And she's totally "meh, whatever" if you turn her down when she turns up at your mansion for sexytimes. I love her so much.

Of course, I didn't tell her the reason I turned her down at the mansion was because SEBASTIAN WAS STANDING IN MY LIVING ROOM. He reminds me of the Leliana creepy stare.

I don't want to flirt with Isabela. Just ... no. It's bad enough I can never seem to help myself from flirting a bit with Anders even if not romancing him... I'm not going down the scandalous route of flirting with Isabela. No matter how much Anders goes on how Isabela is a side dish or whatnot. Just no.

@DeaHamlet Hehe. She's not to everyone's taste, but I love her. I'm making her a big Male Warrior Hawke to run off and be pirates with her. If he doesn't get distracted by Anders and sandwiches.

I do ADORE Anders' comment about her. "She comes with the meal." "Only if it's a good meal!"

ETA @Yuki I don't know, haven't got to the end of this playthrough yet. I've actually only managed one and a half playthroughs so far, my goody two shoes rogue is going back to the beginning because I don't think she's right for Anders (she's going for Merrill instead).

But flirting with Isabela is...harmless. Isabela is cool. Isabela understands flirting to flirt because flirting can be fun and it really doesn't hurt her because she's not hung up on Hawke the way the other three can be. And the other three don't care, because it's Isabela. Isabela is cool.

Eventually I'm going to make a sarcastic manipulative whoring mage or warrior for Isabela.
Hawke is going to give her a run for her money.  There will be plenty of hooker visits and much threesome-ness with Zevran, oh yeah.  I'm going to outrage EVERYone.  It shall be scandolous.
And Haake is going to sigh at both Anders and Fenris... oh boys, you are so sexy, but far too SERIOUS.  I'd break your hearts, stop flirting with me!  LOL

I'm going to hand her over to the Arishok.  I think friending her is bad enough to achieve this, but flirting with her as well?

I got that glitch, too.  It made me very sad, since that one line at the end is kinda our big reward for completing a romance, so it really gets under my skin to get the wrong one.  It's a shame, since I love Isabela and would definitely flirt with her all the time otherwise.

I pretty much shut my eyes and sprinted over to the reply button, as I've not finished the game (...in fact I'm, ahem, still in Year 3 because I keep going back and doing things over again waaaargh). BUT. I thought I'd take the opportunity to say that Anders was the first companion I recurited in Kirkwall.

Nah they're all over the map with me.  Be nice to them in conversation and do things they disapprove of or vice versa and I'm stuck in the middle.  I had trouble with Fenris, too, until I learned his wily ways.

I actually put the game on hold, on day one, to ask about this on the forums. xD I kept a save before that first flirt just in case, but it would have been really awkward to start a romance right after he killed his friend.
