The last sentence makes me sad because I'm alarmed by the discomfort of it.

Rilke has this line in his Letters to a Young Poet where he's talking about a mature love, which is one in which "two solitudes protect and touch and greet each other". What Anders and Justice have is far too close for that. And that makes me... sad. It's unloving. Intimate, but not love.

Yeah.... I don't know if you can draw parallels between allowing a spirit to share your body and a buggering.

I would think any spirit is asexual to begin with. They just chose to give it a male voice. If he had let a "female" spirit in the game would have been something entirely different.

...well that settles it. I'd rather have Anders have a good relationship with his other boyfriend. Friendmance forever!

He keeps getting more dark and disturbing and I love it but it hurtttssss whyyyyyyy do you do this to me

thank you for posting this leggywillow. The last sentence did not make me sad, just added to my curiosity. It just adds to the depth of complexity of what is Anders now. Made me wish for more interaction with Justice in the friendship romance.

Good point.  But without love.. do you think they can get to a frienship... I think it was there as Anders proposes it but then was corrupted.  With the chantry done and some resolution of vengeance perhaps there is some bridging possible between the two.

Maybe. I rather say "no" and be pleasantly surprised then hope for yes. I dunno that anyone in DA ever gets to have nice closure.

Intimate does not equal love. Tbh I don't even know if justice is capable of love. He finds it interesting in Awakening and even envies it, but he's the embodiment of one thing... Justice and everything else gets in the way.

I think Anders merging with Justice was an impulsive, ill considered judgement but with well meaning intent. But merging with him is tearing him apart, it's not a healthy relationship as you can see by his deterioration throughout the game. It's not a loving relationship as he has with Hawke it is a relationship to achieve a goal... that of Justice (or vengeance). Anders knows Justice a few months then invites him to "move in" His relationship with Hawke is much more considered and he fights it for 3 years before giving in.

While Hawke can never have the intimacy Anders shares with Justice, he/she can have a reciprocal loving relationship and Anders never indicates that it amounts to cheating on Justice as he sees them as one and the same person rather than lovers.

Ha, that's pretty much how my LadyHawke handled it, although I was not particularly happy with it. Maybe she just decided now was not the time for an argument about seriously Anders what the hell.
