He was just kidding about the whole 'at any cost' thing! He actually put up a giant green screen and projected a CG image of the chantry exploding for the lulz.

Well.. he'd be the best troll in Thedas, at least.

I demand a banner of this. DEMAND.

Also because Anders turns me into a fangirl here's a song that reminds me of him. And my Hawke. Because... fangirl. *runs away*

I'm not upset the templars part are gone but de kiss

D:

I want that kiss!

Though I have the feeling the templars ending was originally scripted for rivalry path. It makes sense. He refers to Justice as "Vengeance" and seems to be distant from him.

I had a feeling the rivalry path was about him moving away from his "templars are evil" crusade and trying to get him to work within the system (as well as getting rid of Vengeance).

Meanwhile it looks silly on the rivalry path where he merges completly and utterly and seems so happy and at peace with it at the final battle where before he was struggling.

Lol, well, if you guys wanted a story-breaking kiss at the Gallows with Anders, you can get it through the console! You just have to pick that you sided with templars and spared Anders and of course the power of lurve or something made him change his mind. Ick. I will pretend they're just kissing there for lulz as a big F U to the templars

That's horribly out of character even for him. A militant mage suddenly changes his mind just for you? Wth? So does this mean he can stay in the party after all if you side with the templars and spared him? It feels so....wrong.

Yeah, exactly. Even if the option were in the final game I would have never taken it. What was all that **** about there being no one you wouldn't kill to see mages free? Now you're all "LOL OK I'M GONNA SIDE WITH THE TEMPLARS"? O hale naw.

Wellll, maybe Anders realized that it would be kind of ****ed up to go back on years of "true love"? :P

Anders: I love you SO much...we're going to run away together and be in love until we die.
Hawke: Yeah, um...about that. I'm gonna go ahead and side with the templars in this one...I mean, you did blow up a chantry.
Anders: -gasp- What? You're betraying me?
Hawke: Take whatever you're feeling right now, multiply that by about 165, and that's what I just felt five minutes ago...so don't lecture me.

Right?

Hawke: I'm going Templars.

Anders: Well. I really like you. I guess I can come along, to--

Hawke: GOD DAMN IT MAN YOU DID NOT JUST BLOW **** UP TO **** OUT. WE'RE HAVING A BATTLE. IM GOING TO KILL YOU. AND YOU'RE GOING TO DIE FOR YOUR CAUSE.

I know! What was the point of rocketfuel and sulfur again? Oh yeah, blow up the chantry for the lolz then kiss and makeup with the templars so everything will be sunshine and rainbows again.

Sunshine and rainbows, my ass.
Knight Commander Meredith looked as if she wanted Anders' head on a platter. So did Orsino, actually. Best served cold, indeed.

lmao

Though I really wonder how much of that cause is his and how much is Justice.

That to me makes the templar ending plausible. I play the rivalry romance alot so the romance ending at the gallows (on the mages side) is a bit headdesky for me because of how easily he then accepts Justice who he's been fighting against all the rest of the time.

That said templar ending makes no sense beause Meredith should've skewered him. Then again Meredith isn't the sharpest knife in the rack at that point so...

Especially since, if you break up with him at the end, you tell him that you know you're always going to be second to his cause.
Not so much, Hawke, you just have to totally ignore his cause for him to realize how important you are. :D

...You know, in spite of finally giving into the temptation of romancing Anders (Y'ALL SAW IT COMING), I kind of feel sorry for him. >.>
Considering he's a bleeding heart healer who cares for the unfortunate and the downtrodden, and his current potential love interest is an assassin cheerily murdering her way through Kirkwall, I foresee some awkward conversations.
Oh, Dysfunction Junction. I have missed you so.

I wonder how many people Anders actually killed in that Chantry.

Because I'm going to guess that my Hawke alone killed many, many times over.

I only saw the Grand Cleric and some templars in the scene itself. I'm sure there were some sisters/mothers around there somewhere too.
I sometimes wonder if by him doing that it actually saved more lives, what with the whole March the Divine was talking about.
Wouldn't of that killed everybody in the city? Just for being there?
Not that it makes it any better, but it was just something I was thinking about.

Shhhhh. That's not the point. ;)
You know, my guess is roughly 20. At the MOST. I don't see many people in the Chantry every time I go in there to listen to Sebastian ramble about Starkhaven.

I think he killed a few hundred.

Hawke still killed more. But I'm pretty sure Anders killed a decent amount of people with that exploding chantry.

I want that kiss. D:

And mostly damnit I want the "Vengeance is bad for me" acknowledgement on the rivalry path.

I always thought that was a little weird. Hypocritical when my Hawke was like ALL THEIR BLOOD IS ON YOUR HANDS.

(Which I then reloaded and picked a different answer because, srsly, I could not stop laughing at that one.)

I dunno. I just -- I walk around the game covered in blood like I work at paint shop for commies. It's just ... weird.

I'm certain that, towards the end, that's the only thing that's rubbing off on Hawke.

Because, really, nothing ruins the mood like sewer diving for gunpowder and quests for insane ideals.

Okay now that I"ve seen it I don't care about the templars bit but I should've gotten that speech on the rivarly path!

They didn't even need to change much! He can still atone on the mages side!

This sucks *sulks*

I dunno, it would seem to me that if Vengeance can assume direct control and make Anders blow up a damn church, he wouldn't just sit idly by and be like "LOL OK I AM DONE, YOU CAN GO HELP TRY MAKE EVERYTHING WE FOUGHT AGAINST ALL THIS TIME HAPPEN".

Though the telling him he needs to try and make up for what he did isn't so bad, but still.

You have a point. But it makes revenge that much sweeter when Meredith turns into stone and Orsino an amorphous mass of lard

About the chantry thing: I was hoping to see more people inside than just Elthina. It lessens the feeling of sympathy for me. Otherwise, I'm just going to pretend they were all corrupt and deranged like Sister Petrice, in which case, I have none.

I, for one, find Sela Petrae to be an incredible aphrodisiac. And all those raiders and mercenaries attacking me while I'm trying to get it? The icing on the friggin' cake of awesomeness.

No, but seriously, WTF Anders?
