I'm curious to know, if you don't flirt in Act 1 but flirt in Act 2, will the romance still be available? I think that's one of the flaws with the conversation wheel. Anders has a lot of interesting things to say if you don't choose the flirt option, but I can't choose that and save the flirts for later. How does the romance mechanic work anyway?

Edit: Top comforting Anders

Probably? I'm pretty sure you can even romance Fenris first and then get with Anders once Fenris leaves you.

Hawke is the relationship counselor Anders is seeing on the side, then?

WHATEVER THAT'S FINE.

Dammit. Anders. Easily becoming my favorite character of any IP anywhere. Dammit.

I can't keep up with this thread - stupid job.
He's easily my favorite too. (I admit, him looking exactly like my husband helps.)

That reminds me... Does anyone know if there is a real world inspiration for Anders? I'm wondering where they created him from. Canadian celebrity? Thin air? Because he really, really looks like my husband... maybe I should ask him what he's been doing on the side. I know I sound a bit silly going on about it, but everytime I play the game, it's right there in my face and it's so weird. It's not like it's a slight resemblance. It's like someone from Bioware took a picture of him and changed the jawline a little bit so we couldn't get royalties. ;)

So, he comes home last night and he's cut his hair way shorter... but he's
still got his 5 o'clock shadow/2-day old not-a-beard thing going. I say, "You still look like him, but nice try anyway."  Then his eyes got all Justice-y and I had to run away. [smilie]../../../images/forum/emoticons/wink.png[/smilie]

Yeah, I defintely want people to use their imagination. I want them to be able to visualize Hawke having a wider array of emotions aside from diplomatic, snarky, and agressive. I feel they pulled it off better with Shepard. Even diplomatic Shepard would have had a harder time swallowing the pill Ander's offered than Hawke did. Hawke seemed way too cool with how events unfolded when I know a lot of players were still going "What the f.....?!"

I'm still catching up...

I wanted a "Punch him in the face/You sleep in the dog house for the rest of the week" option.

Hawke's responses seemed too casual for what had just happened. I was still pissed off, and the options to choose from were too limited.

I finally caught up with 150+ pages! Stupid term papers.
Anyway I thought I'd share this video I made a few days ago, maybe a week, either way I've been in a daze since I beat DA2:
Heavy in Your Arms
I'm working on another one at the moment with a rivalmance mage playthrough.
My social life really does not approve of my obsession with Anders. (-.-)

I've been watching this over and over again for a few days now. It's brilliant, astonishing and spot on. Well done, I love it!

Say's it's not found ):

Same, but if it's the one I think it is -  Here! :)

Yup, that's the one. You can see the YT address in the nonworking url ;)

Thank you ^^

I figure as technology improves and people expect more of games, these sorts of things will get more complicated. Not just in terms of having a wider range of appropriate responses and more complex and deep inter-character relationships, but just in general.
I would have loved for our companions to keep track of our decisions, for instance: if we suddenly let a group of slavers go free, a companion could turn to us and be all incredulous; we ruthlessly slaughtered a whole cave full of them last week, why are we changing our minds now? Or have a conversation come up if we mentioned upon first meeting a companion that, yes, mages need to be controlled and then contradict ourselves three years later, where the companion could ask about how or why our opinions are changing, similar to how we do in their Questioning Beliefs quests.
I want our character to have tastes and preferences, memories and beliefs that we can consistently express and have NPCs actually remember.

Not to mention having those mid-tone options: if we're 45% sarcastic, 40% nice and only 15% angry, have extra dialogue options that reflect our "kind but humorous" attitude, rather than just straight-up snark. Or have companions try to lie to us if we act naive and innocent all the time, or let them back down from arguments or tell NPCs that they don't want to ****** us off if we're consistently aggressive. We're taking steps in the right directions, but there's so many more possibilities if a game has a enough time, money and people. I can only hope that DA3 lives up to that now that DA2 has made a start.

Anyone else melt into a puddle of goo when Anders cries out mournfully if Hawke gets knocked out. The desperation in his voice makes me all swoony.

I have yet to hear this. The only ones I ever hear is Hawke about Varric falling and Anders about Merrill.

Nobody ever comments on the potions I make them drink either like other people have said they're supposed to. <_<

He's the only LI companion that changes his outfit regardless of being romanced or not.

It's because, no matter what, he is always in love with/obsessed with Hawke and trusting him enough to help him in the end is the most important show of commitment and support that Hawke can make.

I mean, that's my theory on it.

Seeing that Templar-sided kiss .... FFFFFF.

OKAY I KNOW IT MIGHT BE A LITTLE INAPPROPRIATE but now I really wish it were coded for the mage-side as well.  I mean, I have to wonder about my Hawke's mental status anyway when he/she says she's going to run off with him.  GAAAAH.

What's wrong with me.

OH... I didn't realise you could warn Cullen about Anders.... I spoke to Cullen after the Justice quest in act three and there's a star option with "I have a warning about Anders" on it. I was full rivalry but not romancing him this time. You can tell Cullen you think one of your associates is plotting against the Chantry....

Never found that one before.

What does Cullen say?

And does Anders say anything if he's you know, right there?

Anders says "What are you doing?"
Cullen says "I suppose I don't have to ask which of the apostates you're talking about. I'll pass on your warning"

when speaking to Anders after the Justice quest I got him to admit he'd done something but wouldn't tell me and almost agreed to stop until Justice came out to play. I imagine you have to do that to get the star dialog.

Well, maybe it did and we just don't know! She could be plenty more crafty than any of us think, and escaped at the last minute! It's pretty obvious when things start going to pot, she could have been all "Hmm...maybe now would be the opportune time to slip out of the Chantry and, you know, live."

Maybe she sheperded them out like a good...shepherd. (That word looks funny to me). Who knows! Sometimes self-preservation wins out over everything else.

LOL I wish you could get special dialogue at the end, instead of saying that stuff to Anders about the plan, just saying to everyone, "YOU KNOW, WE WARNED HER.  A LOT.  NO SERIOUSLY, WE DID."

Hahaha. I laughed, out loud.

"SERIOUSLY, THAT WOMAN IS SO BLOODY STUBBORN. SO REALLY, THIS IS HER OWN FAULT, NOT ANDERS'."
