Him vs. Sebastian is awesome.

Anders: *something about Seb looking at him and judging him*
Seb: I was looking at the clouds.
Anders: *more ranting about Seb judging him*
Seb: That one looks like a bunny rabbit.(Kudos to the VA for the delivery on this one)

I about died laughing. And yes, I also wanted to turn around and slap them both upside the head.

That one made me spit out a bit of my drink.  I did want Hawke to be able to turn around and say, "Anders, sweetie, you're wonderful...but that sounded a bit crazy."

Anders: I'm surprised your master didn't kill you.
Fenris: I'm surprised the templars haven't killed you.
Anders: I'm charming.

Ugh he's snarkinnnnng. It makes me miss old Anders.

Put him and Fenris and Seb in a party and wander around for a bit.

It quickly descends from snarking to the most incredible passive aggressive b***chery ever.  Seriously, I wanted to be able to turn Hawke around and give them each a good slap upside the head.

They are terrible to each other.  I absolutely love it!  I never imagined Team Harem would be so catty, and it's fabulous.

At one point Fenris and Anders are sniping at each other about Hawke and Isabela accuses them of going at each other like dogs fighting over a "***** in heat" or something like that.  XD  So crude and hilarious.

I just did Merrill's quest where the Keeper was possessed and killed and the comment Anders makes about how world being a poorer place because Merrill is still in it made me want to smack him upside the head. I understand her stupidity (and Hawke's, since you keep leading her on) with dealing with blood magic.. but.. :crying:

Yep, and if Merrill's with you, she'll giggle and agree about the bunny rabbit.

*snicker* The hazards of drinking or eating while playing Bioware games. And Anders did sound crazy. It was awesome.

Varric called Seb "Choir Boy" in a banter, which I thought was perfect. I love Varric's nicknames. The other ones I've seen are "Blondie" for Anders, "Daisy" for Merrill, and "Sunshine" for Bethany. Does he have other ones?

Yeah, he was so incredibly harsh to her during that. I won't take him next time, because Merrill goes through enough. She doesn't need Blondie McCrankypants piling on the ****ry.

From what I've read nobody ever makes any comments if you're a blood mage.

Man, after reading this thread, I'm totally romancing Anders for my second playthrough. I went after Seb this time, and felt kind of robbed. I didn't even get a hug or anything. Actually, I don't think he even touched Hawke. Serves me right for going for the man with the chastity vows. Although that accent .

Adam Howden was great as Anders, and I loved him as Silas in Leliana's song. He was so screwed up that I just wanted to give him a hug. There's one conversation he has with Varric in the Hanged Man where he's telling Varric about the Blackmarsh, and I went, "Holy crap, Anders actually looks happy." Poor guy.

Did anyone else think he looked like he's been through the wringer since Awakening? I think it's the stubble that does it. Makes him look disheveled.

I felt like everyone was mean to poor Merrill.  Varric and Isabela aren't, but my party was usually Fenris and Anders and they were just awful to her.

Haha yeah, it was a bit disappointing that no one ever comments on that and Anders was apparently totally fine with it when it comes to Hawke. I wanted horrible drama damn it.

He had the stubble in Awakening. I think it's the messy hair and his robes that make him look like a handsome hobo. He looks much more presentable in his Upgraded Robes of Foreshadowing.

He's also screaming at baddies to "suck on a fireball!" when he doesn't even know any fire spells in my game... I sense some sort of conspiracy.

I also find it ironic that Merrill is the only one that ever says outright to let Anders live at the end of the game, if I'm remembering correctly.

He did? * checks the "I didn't do it" screenshot* He did! Forgot that. Must be the hair and robes then.

Edit: Whoops, forgot to quote: referring to the "He had stubble in Awakening" post.

Yeah it's reaaaally difficult not to romance Anders even though I'm trying to pursue Fenris who I think is as charming. Anders just looks miserable all the time and I keep thinking of the codex page that said that when Lady Hawke and Anders were together, he was an attentive and loving partner.....*sigh*

Grrr.....it's frustrating when you replay the game and all the signs are there. I'm really mad we can't have more freedom in conversations like DA:O. That would be the one thing that put me off about this game the most. I wanted to know much more about him before the Circle or during. We get like a minute of dialogue every act. I remember spending a lot of time talking to Alistair and Zevran.

And yes.....I don't think I could play Awakening again. It breaks my heart knowing Lady Hawke will probably never know the man who although had a lot of anger and sadness pent up inside could get by with a funny or sarcastic response. I realized by the end of the game how much I resent Justice, and good intentions or not I wish I had the option of killing him the Fade.

I didn't get an answer to my question before, so I'll ask it again - is it possible for Hawke to support what Anders did, blowing up the Chantry? Because the videos I've seen have Hawke not agreeing with it.

Maybe it only happens if you're a mage or if you unlock the achievement for "arcane protector", but I know I had an option to say that I wish I had know.  I clicked it and suddenly my character was saying I would have helped if I had known.  I wouldn't have helped and actually reloaded that option, but it definitely existed.  It was one of the options with a star next to it.

Yeah, but it's still pretty bad that he would say something like that to a nice blood mage when he's also dating one. Maybe that's why Justice doesn't approve. xD

Thanks, I'll keep that in mind. :) My FemHawke definitely would have helped him. (She'd probably want to slap him because he didn't invite her.)

I think the presumption is that Hawke, if a blood mage, actually has a handle on herself and her powers, whereas Merrill is clearly a bit naive and inexperienced, and a lot of the other blood mages you meet succumb to abomination.  Blood magic comes with a lot of power, danger, and temptation, and it's a rare mage who can use it without going insane (Morrigan, the Warden, Hawke, Zathrian, etc.)

I wonder how embarrassing that was for the VA? Unless they just recorded him eating a sandwich.

I think one of the rules of being an actor is to not get embarrassed easily xD

Though, I forgot to turn off my captions so all my screencaps say (Pants) above them, which is incredibly offensive to me, even though they are not referring to the tyrannical garment.

Yeah, the panting caption did take away something from the scene.  I really need to remember to turn the captions off right before that next time.

You know what's sad, I had no idea what the caption said because I felt like so much of a voyeur during that kiss that I averted my eyes from my monitor to give them some alone time. It was some weird instinctive reaction. "Oh my God, they should be alone for this! Augh!"

I also blushed for like a half hour afterwards. Totally hot.

Quick question. Has anyone played a Hawke that was a Templar? Did that have any effect, or was it similar to the blood mage?

I thought Anders disliked blood magic even if the mage knew how to control it? It would make more sense if he didn't though.

No effect. Sadly. I had my hopes up, too, for some reason.
