Ohai there Justice, you are looking particularly delicious glowy and badass today.

EDIT: Top of the page post, whoo!
If I were on the FemShep thread, this would require picspam, so... um... er.

KITTEN. : D

I have wine and I'm in Act 2, doing Anders' personal quest. Things are only going to get better in 20 minutes.

Yeah, I'm sorry, but the body morph is totally wrong for Anders. He needs his skinny, wiry, leanly muscled....

....sorry what was I saying?

I said it before, many pages back - Anders is a closet mountain biker. ;)

I really think that it's better for Merrill and Anders if you do their rivalry paths, BUT I'm not really sure how to get Anders at full rival without either being a jerk or siding with templars all the time in sidequests. Most of the time, siding with templars feels wrong to me. I just want to smack him upside the head about the merging-with-Justice thing and the ends-justify-the-means violence thing. I'm generally with him on the "save innocent mages and kill blood mages" bits.

I agree with that. I think that arguing with Anders about Justice is probably better for him long-term if it leads to the realization of how wrong things have gone with the merging. Ditto on Merrill - I knew that saying no to her would have been way better than helping her with the eluvian. But geez, after she said I was a shem like all the others, I caved in and reloaded despite deciding that I was going to hold on to the arulin'holm (yeah, so much for that plan). I really want to try the Anders rivalmance, but I'm pretty sure that I'll cave in just like I did with Merrill. I can't be mean to my companions, not even when it's for their own good. *facepalm*

Well, I did yell at Carver that one time, but he was being a total jerk. :P Hmm, with the lure of another kiss from Anders, maybe I can steel myself and be antagonistic towards him for a full run.

I find it very easy to yell at Carver. Better than being nice. I think even in my canon I'm going to tell him he's being a whiny ass. Teehee.

Not that anyone cares, but I'm rivaling Anders in my most recent playthrough and I like it way more, so I am preemptively expressing annoyance that siding with the mages as a rival gets you the same speech as a friend. Hell, even as a friend I want to be all "You are going to atone for this so hard, and step one is saving these mages from your crazy-ass scheme's fall out."

I think I like the rival path better because I want him to fight the good fight in his own head, rather than just roll over and take it. Fight, Anders! Fight!

EDIT: I also like Anders' hair.

But as a friend, you're not telling him to roll over and take it. You're just not making him question his beliefs because you support his cause. You can express concern about losing himself to Justice, but in the end as long as he is working towards the freedom of mages and isn't being challenged on that issue at every turn, he co-exists with Justice.

I'm doing my first Anders romance (friendship route... I don't think I'd ever be able to do a rivalry romance with him), and WOW. The scene in Hawke's house is sooo well done. The glowing Fenris kiss was good, but that Anders kiss was so...passionate. <3 Props to the animators on that one.

I'm almost to Act 3 now, so I'm starting to get sad (knowing how things are going end and all), so it's nice to come to the Anders thread and find kittens

I cannot play on my PC right now, and it's making me sad. I have a crushed nerve in my leg and can only sit in a certain kind of desk chair that I only have at work. My cheap-o Office Depot special isn't cutting it. I can't bring myself to start up a new XBOX game when I'm 3/4 of the way through my PC game. Meanwhile, hubby is happily playing away - I just heard him level up. :(
dammit Anders

bleah. screw it. All that happens is my feet go numb for awhile. *off to play and damn the consequences!

As others said its the sound that make all the difference in the kiss with Anders. It was well worth being teased by my husband for the "pants" subtitle at the top of the screen. Gideon Emery's voice is amazing and he does give a lot of charm to Fenris but... it lacks that *sigh* (I was about to write groans of passion but that just sound like a moldy harlequin picked up at a garage sale)

Meh, it feels like I'm a giant enabler on the friend path. You express concern but it always sounds sort of halfhearted and mealy-mouthed to me. As a rival (and I'm not actually very anti-mage, but I never, ever let Anders forget he's a damn abomination), it feels much less "whelp, what's done is done, lol" to me.

I get why people would rather help him make peace with Justice rather than fight him tooth and nail, but I vastly prefer encouraging him to fight, that's all. I am also a dedicated rival to Merril, for what it's worth. Mages aren't going to have an easier time of it as long as mages pull the crap those two pull, dang it.

Ok, long post, and not meant to be inflammatory, so I'll apologise in advance.

I think the rival path "for Anders' own good" argument smacks of metagaming to a certain extent, unless you actually AGREE that mages are better off in the circle. It seems a lot of people think it's better for Anders to be on the rival path because he splits from Justice more, and it makes the bombing more Justice's fault than Anders. I disagree. He joined with Justice because he wanted to free mages. The mage fight was always ANDERS' fight, not the fade spirits'. Justice sees the Justice of it (hur hur) and so agrees to join with him. Their goals are the same. The method he goes about doing it is called into question at the end on the rival path, but that's all. The fight is the same.

People can not like what he did, I understand that. But saying the rival path is better for him because it makes him lose control of his body so Justice can plant the bomb... doesn't sit right for me. I don't think it is better for him. I think it's better for HAWKE, because then they can feel like they've tried to stop something they disagree with (if they disagree with it). But not for Anders. He's going to have to live with it for the rest of his life regardless (even if that life is very short).

He doesn't think it was a GOOD thing to have done, but on the friend path he thinks it was necessary.

Ser Pounce... I MISS YOU!!! :crying:

I think some EPIC QUEST TO FIND SER POUNCE FOR ANDERS DLC must happen. That, or I want to be allowed to find a new kitten in lowtown. I spent so much time looking for kittens only to find out the kittens are a lie. Darn you Merrill getting my hopes up. Anders sounded so adorable asking for tabbies.

With the risk of repeating myself (again) I just want to say that Anders and Justice are one now. People keep wanting to remove Justice or blame him for everything and generally want to think fo him as a separate entity. But Justice and Anders are one, if you love someone you should accept them as they are without trying to change them.

So what I don't get is, if you think Justice is the one influencing Anders to actively fight the Chantry... how do you explain why they joined up in the first place?
Anders, without Justice, wanted to become more aggressive in the fight for mages' rights. Anders, without Justice, wanted to do something beyond just saving his own skin. He isn't a drooling idiot, he would have realized this course of action would end in bloodshed- innocent and guilty alike.
And he made the decision to take Justice into himself to better accomplish this goal.

So... how is this all Justice's influence?

Anders laughed over the dying gargle of a templar moments after you met him. Even if he DIDN'T kill the man... that shows a pretty serious level of anger. Even if the templar was an a**hole, it takes a lot of rage and hate to crack jokes about how they died not even an hour later, while the body is still warm at your feet.
(personally, I've always suspected he had at least some part in killing them anyways)

The angriest he sounds in Awakening (short of finding out the truth about the last blight after sparing the Architect) is when he's talking about the Chantry treatment of mages.

This isn't something new they created for DA2. The seeds and anger were there in Awakening, quite plainly. If anything, the humor about how working to free mages "sounded hard" seemed more put-on than his rage.
He certainly didn't take a fade spirit into his head so they could sit down at a conference table with the Divine and calmly discuss the mage issue. He did it for strength in battle. That pretty much says it all, if you ask me.

If you don't like what he did, well, I can't blame you. Bioware INTENDED it to be a divisive issue. But writing it off as "not Anders" and saying it was all Justice seems unrealistic. He may question it on the rival path, but he's questioning his own beliefs- beliefs he had long before he even knew justice- not just the spirit/demon influence.
He merged with Justice for a reason, and that wasn't to be a peacemaker.
