I wonder if they didn't take it out on purpose, as a last minute change. It seems a strange path to take, which is rivaling Anders and not only letting him live, despite the fact that he did exactly what a rival Hawke has warned him against doing, but also taking him to help Annul the Circle (which is like taking Loghain to kill a bunch of Fereldans in an Orlesian prison). A Hawke who sides with the templars becomes Viscount, do they not? I cannot imagine any stretching of lore or credulity that would cover for Hawke being in that position of power with Anders, unpunished, by her/his side. The only thing that makes the survivability of Anders and a Hawke who sides with the mages work is because they're on the run.
LOL, very true. I wonder if Orsino's dialogue would change at all in that case? Either that or we were wrong about Anders as a character the whole time and he is actually just the biggest troll ever born. The dialogue would have to go down like this:
Orsino: ...but do not kill us all for an act we did not even commit!
Troll!Anders: LOL
Meredith: The grand cleric is dead, killed by a mage
Troll!Anders: U MAD
Orsino: Yeah, THAT mage! The one right beside you, who's helping you kill the rest of us!
Meredith: Pssh, details
Troll!Anders: LOL
Yeah, It's SO BIZARRE. When it was just a joke a few days ago, all I could think of was how pissed I would be if I was one of the other companions who had to LISTEN to him all those YEARS and then...he can't even do the right thing and die for his ****ing cause! I hope that Merrill, at least, stonefists him right in the face after everything is done, because he absolutely deserves it.
If I were Hawke, I'd ask him to join me fighting the mages, just so I could suckerpunch him when he said yes.
Then I'd be like, "Nope, get your ass back over to those mages so you can die for your cause."
Meanwhile, the mages and templars alike are glaring at him venomously. lol
I think the kindest thing you can do honestly, is to just send him off.

I bring them both together everywhere. Endless lulz. I love the just... utter, pure hate some of these characters have. It don't think there was anything quite like that in Origins. Except maybe Loghain's hate of Orlesians. And Morrigan and Alistair, I guess.
With Alistair and Morrigan, it didn't seem quite as bad because they were both mentally healthy and seemed to derive a lot of joy out of snarking on each other. With Fenris and Anders, though, it's like the Broken Boys Show, now with extra venom. There are times when Fenris is outright cruel and Anders is completely unhinged and it hurts so much.
And yet I take them both out all the time, because Hawke loves one and has an incredibly complicated relationship with the other, up to and including the fact that they are an unstoppable force of death when fighting together.
God, go out to dinner with my husband and y'all throw up 6 pages on me. Anyway, just wanted to QFT.

Believe is or not, my own MiL asked me how much I could make "renting him out."
He was standing right there too.
I like women who are all business! It's settled then, yes? (Your husband shall have no say in this.)
He started banging on pans and made sure we knew he was LA-LA-LA-ignoring us.
I'm afraid most people would be dissapointed though. They'd get the outer skin without the inner crazy. It just wouldn't be the same...
All the hassle of refunds... ugh. Not worth it.

Showed the game to my inlaws who were over for dinner. Specifically the Anders intro scene.
"How did you get that guy to look like M___?"
Me: "I didn't." rofl
Them: Well, that's weird.
Me: "Yeppers.
Them: "Is he famous?"
Me: "In a way."
OMG I was dying.
(I feel vindicated though. If they think a video game character looks like their own son then I'm not crazy.)
I wore a Harry Potter shirt once to visit my in-laws. My husband's own mother asked how I got his face on my T-shirt.
He' s not allowed to wear round glasses.

Hee! That's something I've thought about...more than is normal. But, who would turn down Anders sex? It boggles the mind.

I saw Apocalyptica at Lollapalooza '95. Met the bassist, nice chap. Gave me a free album (on cassette).
Wow, I'm old.
We can go hang in the old lady corner with our wine.
I'll join you. Since I want to ask for Metallica's Unforgiven to be added to the playlist.

I'm starting a new mage playthrough. I have to say Carver is kind of sweet if you click on him. He's all "you can catch your breath I'll look out." while Beth's all "let's goooo!"

I love Carver. He's much more fun.

I love mocking him with snarky Hawke.
He gets so irritated. Though at least he has my back in the end. EVen with his super saiyan hair.

There's Threeparts' Songs for Anders on Grooveshark... I don't know of any others, though.

He's probably one of my favorites. I can't blame him for being resentful, plus, teenage hormones and all that. But it's evident he loves his big bro/sis... when you let him die in the Deep Roads I bawled (and I only saw it on YouTube).
This is why you always bring Anders along

I let him join the Templars. We're like mages vs templars personified

I got to admit there is no way I could let Carver die. Think of the Peaches!
