Honestly, the only thing I'm now certain of is that my Cousland is hugging Alistair as tightly as possible and praising the BW writers for giving her such a joyous happy ending.  Sure, she may have pimped out her husband to impregnate someone with a god baby that could theoretically try to destroy the world someday... but she still got to marry her one true love and be his happy Queen for the better part of a decade (before being whisked away to the Plot Dungeon).  That's way more than poor Hawke can claim.

You also got to put a totally infertile couple on the throne of a politically unstable country with no clear alternative to rule.  Not to mention Loghain - and others - fears about the Grey Wardens taking over will have been partially confirmed by that ending.  Have fun with the succession crisis in a couple decades after the monarchs' Calling, Ferelden!

*tosses wet blanket*
*Hugs King Hardistar/Anora + Redeemer ending*

Like I said, it's really saying something that I think Cousland and Alistair got the happier ending.  XD

I think the Anders/Justice disconnect must manifest itself largely in cognitive dissonance. They probably don't experience things as two separate people in the same head, but given what he remembers about his previous separate lives, he knows enough to figure out which opinion is coming from where (like with the "Justice does not approve of our relationship" comments). I think he starts off identifying more strongly with the "Anders" aspect of his merged personality due to the familiarity of his host body.

Justice also seems to be able to exert himself and fully dominate Anders as a spirit, separate from the "merging" experience. That's when he starts getting blackouts.

It becomes pretty clear by the end that Anders/Justice is either "resolving" their inherent cognitive dissonance by assimilating the "Anders" opinions into the "Justice" opinions, or greatly exacerbating it as in the rivalry path. Justice is becoming much more dominant than the Anders aspect of his personality in the friendship path, and Anders is fighting to exert himself as the dominant personality in the rivalry path (a fight he will likely lose, as it's demonstrated repeatedly that Justice is much, much stronger than he is). While neither are them are the same as they used to be, he's way more Justice than Anders by the end.

So, show of hands: who keeps Anders in their party all the time?
Because I do.
Well, with my RogueHawke, anyway.
Considering some of the shenanigans my group gets up to, I imagine it makes for some very awkward conversations, particularly since Anders is always "HAWKE YAY" and "HUG ME" and "NO OH GOD DON'T LEAVE" *anklecling* in-game.

"Justice does not approve of my obsession with you."
That's because she steals money.
"He believes you are a-"
From orphans.
"- a distraction."
And then laughs about it.
"It's one of the few things we disagree on."
ORPHANS, Anders.

My Hawke would have totally kissed him in a pure abandon of "oh hell, we might die in a minute, I love you, and right this moment is all we have"
She'd leave the preaching to for on the ship. Or maybe in a day or two after she's had some time to think of what she'd say.

Yes, my Hawke would've done this as well. She was easily moved by her emotions, and the threat of impending doom would've been just the motivation she needed for a quick makeout session. All other issues could've been addressed if they lived. I loved my slightly batty, sarcastic, emotional Mercy Hawke. She may just be crazy enough to keep Anders sane...or as sane as he can be anyway.

That's not to say I was unhappy with the ending.  I was very happy.  My Hawke gets all teary eyed when he talks of babies and how someone like him could love someone like me in the future with no templars in the way... aweeeeee... Hawkette's heart was full... I bet if I listened hard enough I could hear her go "squee".  :P

My Hawke was just crazy enough that she was actually seriously considering the babies. Somehow, I don't think Justice would approve.

LOL I keep him in my party no matter my class. A healer always comes in handy.

Plus pissing him off is hilarious. And his and Fenris' banter is priceless. Though Anders' jealousy dialogue sometimes makes my Fenris romancing Hawkes roll their eyes. Fenris got a hole in one when he called Anders out on his hyporisy. He constantly calls Fenris a beast but Anders is the one who loses control of himself.

Really those two are glorious in the same party.

Actually, I did more healing than Anders. I kept him in his Vengeance mode more often than not. Mostly for sick joy reasons.

Why does Anders succumb to Justice more easily? Because I kept having him bring the old ghost out. It's like when I got a kick for using Wynne's spirit heal.

Ah, yes. Can you feel the love? It makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside, all this brotherhood and comeraderie.
Hawke's throbbing headache is my gain. :3

This is SO MUCH WIN.

And yeah, Anders seems to contradict himself a fair bit in regards to just how separate he and Justice are.  Yes, he says "they are one" repeatedly, but then we have comments like the above in which Justice seems to have a clear and separate opinion.

The best thing about these Justice banters we make up is that I read them in Justice's voice.  Which makes them 250% more hilarious.

(I feel vindicated though. If they think a video game character looks like their own son then I'm not crazy.)

I wore a Harry Potter shirt once to visit my in-laws.  My husband's own mother asked how I got his face on my T-shirt.

He' s not allowed to wear round glasses.

Aww, lol!  The only person my husband has ever been told he looks like is Alan Tudyk (aka Wash from Firefly), which only upsets him.

Why? Wash was awesome.

I really don't think the Justice we met in the Fade would have endorsed blowing up the Chantry.

...it's kind of why I don't like the "Justice did it" or "Blame Justice" stuff. But that's more of a feeling (and/or philosophical debate on the nature of the concept of justice) than anything.

I have keep Anders in my party all of the time on all of playthroughs because Martyr is sort of ridiculously overpowered and I feel impotent without 100% uptime haste.

... That's half the reason why I wish the Anders templar defection ending would work. I'm not looking forward to the upcoming Andersless experience when I get to the ending with my nightmare mode templar playthrough.

The only problem with Justice's voice is I hear Rorschach's.

I just -- it's a weird moment. I see little squigly texts and hear the actor from the film.

There's "part of me" that thinks I shouldn't post on the BSN so much.  I tend to ignore that part though.

He's just got a name for it.

Alright, it's up. Enjoy. I got a story planned out if enough people like it. Really that site's issues aren't worth it otherwise.XD

I could only imagine my poor good guy!Hawke's headache after the two of them are done bickering.

They have enough rival points for a rivalmance by the end of act 1.

I don't think they're truly seperate entities at any point in DA2.  Justice "takes over" the same way our own temper can take hold of us if we're suitably provoked.  They don't have conversations in his mind, it isn't sometimes Anders and sometimes Justice, it's always both.   His glowing blue eyes and odd voice moments are just manifestations of his own special brand of psychosis.

Neither Anders nor Justice as we knew them in DA:A even exists anymore.  They've become a single entity and in doing so corrupted each other.  Whether or not "Anders" is at peace with that by Act 3 depends on Hawke, either he's accepted himself for this new thing he's become, or his mind can't reconcile the internal conflict anymore and shatters.

In the end Justice and Anders, in their pre-merger form, are responsible - for making the arrangement in the first place.  Whether or not Hawke throws his or her hat into the ring of blame depends on whether or not they take the Friend path.

Short version:  They're both to blame, and they're both long gone.

This is so much better than the 'Justice is a diet' comparison I was trying to make earlier. xD

I don't think it's inconsistent as much as he just has difficulty explaining it. I think he experiences their thoughts as one, but is informed enough to know which aspect of himself his conflicting opinions can be attributed to. Partly, I think he also just wants to blame Justice in some cases to avoid taking responsibility for some of his thoughts and actions, given that he seems to indentify more strongly with his Anders personality towards the beginning of the game.

Anders obviously twisted Justice quite a bit, and he's just as complicit in that disaster as Justice is, I just think there's way less of him there than Justice by the end. It just feels like he's "Justice with an Anders tumor" by that point.

I mostly play mages, so Anders is not always with me. I replace him with Merrill at times (except when I know she'd frown at me... lol), but if Fenris is in the party it gets a little... omg, some tact, okay? The girl doesn't even fight back, Fenris, chill a little. LOL. Fenris is my favourite warrior so he's mostly in my party unless it doesn't work for whatever friend/rival path I'm taking with a particular quest.
I like 2 mages in my party, and really, I only swap Anders out for new banter and to play with Merrill's abilities.
As a rogue, Anders + Bethany/Merrill was an awesome combo.
