Eh. It could be worse.
At least with Anders, I'm fairly certain he won't sew another me out of other people's bits and pieces if I die. (And by 'I', I of course mean 'Hawke'.)

...

He wouldn't, right?

Right?

Guys?  ;A;

Honestly, I really wouldn't be that surprised.

IT'S ALWAYS SUNNY!  I was making all kinds of Anders/Always Sunny jokes here the other day, and I think only one person responded with Sunny love.  (Of course, that could easily be because I'm not funny but I REFUSE TO ACCEPT THAT.)

I was trying to match up members of Hawke's gang to the Sunny gang.  I was thinking Fenris would be Charlie simply because of the illiteracy thing... but Merrill could also be Charlie due to her general weirdness and being treated like a Butt Monkey by the rest of the group.

@LeggyWillow: People are NOT allowed to link to TV Tropes. DAMN YOU. There needs to be a forum-tropes thread. TROPE LINKER: Forumite who punctuates posts by linking to TV Tropes, thus ending all discussion as every other poster goes there and gets lost in links and hilarity.

Varric is too sane, smart and non-douchey to be anyone on that show lol. Well, maybe Dee and Dennis' biodad xD

Man seriously. I think the pirate queen with trust issues is the best pick from a "vaguely stable" standpoint. Second place is the ... ex-slave with no memories? I think? I dunno, I am a blood magic hater 4 life, so I always have issues with poor Merril. One of these days I'll friend romance her. Maybe.

I just got the urge to play Shenmue again. The greatest game ever made.

Ryo: "I'm looking for some sailors."
Isabella: "Close enough."
Ryo: "A black car?"
Isabella: "Is that what you call the thing in your trousers?"
Ryo: "What was that move?"
Isabella: "You liked that didn't you?"

I honestly think Isabella and Fenris are the two best romance choices.

Srsly.

Like, as actual mates? Yeeeah. And I don't know; I don't have that big of a problem with blood magic. I just keep thinking maybe it's -- oh, ****, it starts. But, srsly, my mage Warden dipped into Avernus' research (told him to stop the nasty stuff, but, why let the other go to waste?). And what's going on with the Grey Wardens in general seems to be a little blood magic-y. As are the phylacteries.

I keep getting the feeling something's up. I always imagine blood magic is a really old magic and it's maybe not as all-bad as we think it is.

Or whatevs. Disregard that, I suck Hawkes.

Mwahahaha!  It is truly an evil thing to do, but I have been derailed into TVTropes so many times that I now take sick pleasure in doing the same thing to others.

I never actually finished a playthrough as a mage (and I finished the game ... a lot), but blood magic just never, ever, ever seems to end well, so screw it. BLOOD MAGIC BAD HISSSSSS  Didn't stop me from speccing Wynne into blood magic for the lulz though.

But yeah, I think Isabella and Fenris are the better choices from an "actually probably a decent partner, all things considered" standpoint. Isabella in particular. I haven't actually done her romance to completion yet, but she just ... seems pretty normal, aside from the OH GOD LOVE SCARY crap. My first ManHawke was seriously wishing they had just sailed away together the second she got her ship by the time he finished Act 3, as he did not enjoy helping his girlfriend kill her mother figure and goddammit Anders I thought we were buds.

Fenris is a fixer-upper. Anders is a watch-him-fall-apart-er. I prefer the latter idk.

Also, I know this isn't the Carver thread, but I am having serious motivation issues restarting my destined-for-Isabella rogue ManHawke, because Bethany is so ... not Carver. Waaah!

EDIT: And yeah, from a playing it through standpoint, I definitely prefer Anders to Fenris, but if I had to pick one of them for realz? Sorry, Anders. You crazy.

I always spec Wynne as a blood mage. My warden was a blood mage, but he was also the TROLL OF FERELDEN. And having a healer who doesn't run out of mana all the time is surprisingly useful.

I like the idea of my mage Hawke telling Anders to get the f*ck out of dodge ... then track him down with blood magic when things start going bad.

... badder.

It's fitting, in a way. And just being like, "Consider it me having my hand forced" just to be catty.

Because nothing says "loving relationship" and "we can work this out" like "catty".

Yeah, my feelings on Fenris are about as confused as the character himself.

And Isabela is the greatest hag for gay Hawke. I looooove her but I am also stuck in one-Hawke-land so who knows when or if I'll ever romance her.

By the way, snarky Hawke: giant queen, or giantest queen?

He has that line in the beginning, "If my choices are south or death, I'll take south" and then just strolls off. I was expecting a hairflip with the delievery.

I dunno after the sap-fest that was my Alistair/Cousland, I kind of enjoyed getting my heart wrenched.

What's that say about me?

idk I'm in a completely stable and relatively normal relationship IRL, I think I just enjoy a good story, as much as a trainwreck as it is.

I have a hard time playing rogues or warriors too... I have younger sisters, and we still bicker constantly. Bethany feels like some sort of mythical perfect little sister who is pretty, innocent, automatically loved by all, and just waiting to die and become a tragic backstory bit. Carver and Hawke may argue constantly, but they'll stand up for each other too. Their relationship feels much more real to me.

And on the romances, very yes. Anders makes a great tragic relationship for a story, but I definitely wouldn't want to get involved with someone similar in real life.

Oh gawd. Isabela is just so much fun. Her crazy is the fun kinky sex no angst kind of crazy. Even her afraid o' love isn't really angsty.

She's crazy but I like it. Loca loca loca.

My femHawke and Izzy just got themselves a ship and its going to be one freaking awesome party boat. Chantry? Qunari? Blood Mages? Templars? WHATEVS

Yeah, I tend to like stories that rip my heart out and stomp it to mush. Honestly, nothing in DAO affected me the same way, much less the conflict in Alistair's romance. He was my favorite but it amounted to "BABIESSSS". So I just stayed on as mistress or ran off with him. Happy ending is as happy.

DA2 supplemented by the Anders romance? Bawling at every turn like a big dumb baby. Emotional impact, whee.

This is how I cheer myself up after DA2's ending.  Isabela did offer Hawke a place on her ship and even said Anders could come along.  I like to imagine that they take her up on that for a little while until they figure out whatever the hell they're doing next.

Spending time sailing on the ultimate Party Boat would do wonders for my Hawke's mood.  I can imagine my chipper, batsh**-crazy little rogue quickly getting over her angst by climbing around in the rigging for hours.  I can also see Anders constantly yelling for her to get down before she falls and breaks all her bones AGAIN.  I think the sea air and physical labor of sailing a ship would be good for Anders, too.

Yeah I agree, I don't know if my first playthrough would have had that extra hard punch in the gut had Hawke romanced anyone else. Or no one.

I mean, I'd still have been bawling. But the guy getting his Terrorism merit badge wouldn't have been Hawke's boyfriend. So.

I still have a friend or two who haven't played yet and I'm trying to convince them to romance Anders their first playthrough. Hopefully they get back to me yelling and ripping their hair out and cursing my name :D
