Wow. He's CUTE. I'd been avoiding looking him up for fear of his real face pushing Anders out of the way.

Whoa, he is cute - makes me wish I were 20-something (unless he's actually 30-something like me). MARRY ME, ADAM! Woops - did I say that out loud? Ummm, a wizard made me do it! Blood magic! I take no responsibility for anything I just said!

Well.
My Hawke pretty much thought Anders was a psycho loony, then slowly began to realize how super-freaking-hot he was. He was all over Fenris, but then decided that maybe psycho bat**** crazy was exactly what he needed. After four years of awkward flirting and the occasional thigh touch, they went ahead and took the plunge. They fight every night, and occasionally Hawke throws Anders out on his ass for a whole five minutes, but deep inside they are totally irrevocably in love. Even if Hawke took the templar specialization and sometimes clips Anders when he's "cleansing" the area. <_<

For my Mage Hawke it was a matter of an instant.

As some of you, like Ryzaki, may recall, before the release of the game, I was planning on romancing Fenris. Then, I did the "Tranquillity" quest and something deep resonated both with me and, of course, with my Hawke, who - like every character I tend to roleplay, at least during my first, most spontaneous playthrough - believes in freedom above everything else. Like my Warden before him, he's a libertian, deeply convinced that everyone should have the same rights.

From that moment, Hawke was drawn to Anders, for better and worse.

We always shared, if not the same means, the same end and the same vision.

See, now I'm curious about how others think relationships played out for their canon Hawkes.

In my head canon, Hawke and Anders have massive chemistry but she was trying to take his warnings to stay away seriously, so for the first four years they were awesome mates who flirted now and then. The Fenris thing was sudden and unexpected hate-sex (go go rivalry), and as far as Hawke was concerned it was over the morning after it began. Izzy's seduction was a mostly based on curiosity, and probably re-occured several times right up until Anders finally gave it up. Up until The Kiss, this screenshot pretty much summed up Hawke and Anders' entire relationship. Getting him to admit that there was something between them was an enormous triumph for my Hawke, and I can imagine her face being set into a smug little smirk for the next week or so after he caved.

What about everyone else? How did things play out between your Hawkes and Anders?

In my head, Hawke and Isabela were hooking up shortly (and repeatedly) after she got back from the Deep Roads and Anders put the kibosh (short for anyone interested) on whatever they might be feeling for each other. Hawke was lonely without her sister and sort of lost without any kind of goal besides "keep mom safe", so she spent a lot of time at the Hanged Man and Isabela was happy to take her mind off of it all.

But the Fenris thing wasn't sudden for my Hawke, who was hatemancing him the moment he used her as a distraction. She knew that she was attracted to him, and he to her, but she didn't expect it to matter much at all. Once it was over, and he left, she realized that she felt guilty for what she'd done because there was something there, for both of them. If he'd actually talked to her about it, she may have put off Isabela again and kept herself from Anders (because she respected his reasoning for not being with her). But he didn't, so she went back with Isabela for a while until Anders finally realized she wasn't going to go away, with her insistence on being supportive and protective, and he wasn't going to be any less into her.

And she fell for him before she even met him. Lirene's description of him got it started and the whole tortured healer/apostate thing and "Those bastards made me get rid of my cat!" were all like Hawke-nip to her. His kindness to Bethany just sealed it.

Oh and I forgot to add.
When Anders says things like, "I'd drown us both in blood to keep you safe", my Lucius Hawke says, "No you wouldn't. You'd drown us in rubble, you filthy liar."

A careless, snarky guy who was always ticked off at the Templars for making trouble for him and his family.  He comes to Kirkwall out of a need to survive more than anything.  One thing leads to another, and he meets this other mage who has some of the similar gripes with the Templars, but Hawke learns even more about the injustices and all that.  He's surprised to know that Anders is possessed by a spirit but hasn't turned into a complete monster... that he knows of.  Years roll by, and the once carefree mage Hawke finds himself completely and utterly in love with Anders, and his ideas about freedom.

They lived together in defiance for a number of years, but Hawke began to saw that Anders was deteriorating fast.  He blamed himself for his own foolish pride, for putting Anders on the spot, but he tried and tried to hold on to what he had, after losing all of his family due to his own mistakes.  Anders blows up the Chantry and loses himself to Justice, and at this point, Hawke has nothing left to lose.  He sides with the mages to protect them, though this is met with a bad end. After apologizing to his faithful comrades for dragging them into this, he plunges into the abyss with Anders in his talons to fight the cause of the mages -- he and Anders both owe it to the mages to see it through.  No more time for regrets.

Roll credits.  Cue "I'm Not Calling You a Liar."

@Ryzaki He's afraid you've caught abomination cooties.

My fem!Hawke rivaled Fenris hard, but ended up sleeping with him out of frustration because Anders kept saying no. Then she flirted with Izzy, who had sex with her for fun and then booted her out of the mansion to go after Anders because it was obvious to Izzy that Saoirse wanted him. Then Saoirse spent a good few weeks wearing away Anders' defenses until BAM, they snogged in the clinic, in front of Sebastian and Fenris. Tee hee.

Another quick question.

Provided that you spared his life in the end and agree to run off with him... what do you think Hawke and Anders would do?

Personally, I'd love a DLC where my Hawke, who's firmly intentioned to do so, travel to Tevinter to find a way to separate Anders and Vengeance without harming him. That's what I have in mind for them: a long trip to the Tevinter Imperium in a quest for humanity :)

They would travel the countryside, fighting over whose turn it is to cook, and whose turn it is to fight the templars.

I'm guessing they might go to Ferelden first. In my version the Warden Commander Mage gave the Ferelden Circle their independance so maybe that's a good place to start asking for help. Also, I have these speculations about Anders getting captured by Sebastian or some other Chantry figure. Then maybe they will attempt to make him tranquil and will either kill Justice by doing that or it will just find out he is immune to it which will make the whole Justice merging thing so bitter sweet.

Huh, now I am wondering how many Hawkes didn't  have a fling with Fenris before moving on to Anders. Mine certainly didn't, he understood Fenris' anger but the whole "mages suck you must realize this even though you are a mage BLAH BLAH" thing was a major turn off. He did flirt with Fenris a couple of times, mostly because he could and Lenox sometimes thinks he's more suave and charming than he is. It's mostly jokey, though, and he never lets it go anywhere unless he means it since on the inside he's a big sap.

Yup. After the first playthrough every subsequent playthrough I do is purely to find new ways of tormenting Sebastian. FOR SCIENCE.

If it makes you feel better, my Cousland was pretty dedicated to Alistair, and my Tabris - minus some pretty heavy flirting with Leliana and Alistair - was all Zevran's. Hawke is just letting loose after having been stuck in Lothering for the last ten years.

And I can't romance Izzy. Her ditching me pretty much permantely put her on my s*** list.

My Hawke can't blame her for that. If she was in Izzy shoes and believed that this Castillon guy had any hope of killing her, she probably would have buggered off with the relic too. My Hawke is more than happy to put self-preservation over morals, but she's fortunate to be rash, confident and lucky enough that she generally doesn't need to.

I was thinking Tevinter Imperium for my Hawke and Anders as well.

Heck, from a metagaming standpoint, if they could figure out Shale's problem, what's a little abomination problem?

I am a prude too then :x

No really, the thing is I am completely focused on just one person. I can't even start to think to "betray" him, even if we are not even togheter...more than this, it's just that I don't like the idea to do it "for fun". So, that takes Izzy out of the picture too. I just choose from the start, and then I go chasing the LI! Damn, if you think about it, it takes years....sometimes this thing of the 10 years dpesn't make much sense....we need something to fill the gaps...

My Mage Hawke was faithful to Anders, no matter what.

Now, on the other hand, I'm playing a rogue Hawke who I plan to get in as many beds as I can possibly do ;)

My Lucius Hawke just thinks ANY kind of tattoo is sexy. And plus, he and Fenris agree that the mages of Kirkwall need to tone the blood magic down a bit.
While the only thing Anders and Lucius agree on, is that the templars very well may be pushing the mages to their fate.
