I would argue that while it's true that Qunari operate on abstract ideals, Anders doesn't. His ideals are fairly concrete and simple; free the mages. It's not at all theoretical.
I disagree. They are dogmatic and militant and big scary dudes but they operate on a system of rules that don't seem to be up for much interpretation. Its a matter of knowing what the rules are, and we don't know all of them, but I'm sure if we did they'd seem very predictable. They want to spread the Qun or whatever but they're going to do it by the book.
Meanwhile Anders' idea of justice is subject to his own biases, experiences, mood swings, and so on.

I want a video of "don't threaten me little girl"... does anyone know of one?
I do have that video XD apparently I recorded all the Anders interactions/quests.
Is it on youtube? Somewhere?I don't want to wait until my warrior playthrough to try it out, LOL.
I'd probably reload... I'm always nice, at most sarcastic with Anders. Except the aggressive options in convo with him now have become "templars must die" type of things. Aggressive Hawke approves of those rather than "you suck Anders" kind of aggressive options.
I can get one up on youtube right now

I kind of conveniently blame vengeance for those jerk-ish remarks (The being glad if you turn Fenris over would be another one). I mean, it's not like Vengeance is known for having perspective on events or actions and they just seem so out of place with the more kind and compassionate side that anders shows.
I prefer not to write it off as Vengeance, just because I like the idea that Anders can and will be a total ass to someone he disagrees with so fundamentally. My Hawke doesn't like it, but I do, as it gives his character more depth. He's passionate and moody and he can sometimes be a complete bastard - I believe that taking that away from him would be a disservice. Personal tastes, right?

Yeah, plus there is the fact that he befriended and became possessed by the embodiment of an abstract ideal. Obviously he doesn't find all abstract ideals too creepy.

You know, out of curiosity I decided to take the lines that don't lead to a kiss, and the dialogue is a bit more interesting though you don't get your face snogged off. I had never actually heard it until now and am just like ;-------; These lines in particular:
"Sometimes, I fear I cannot do this. Not while I struggle against this vengeance inside me. But I know you won't let me lose myself to him."
(Sarcastic alternate: "Seriously, though, I couldn't do this without your support. I couldn't... hold onto this spirit of vengeance inside me. But I know you won't let me lose myself to him."
Aggressive: "Every day, I feel the need for vengeance growing inside me. But I know you won't let me lose myself to him.")
I guess desperate makeouts preclude conversation, huh?
Maybe Anders thought that kiss would convy all that he needed to say..........
Hawke didn't get it the first time and needs multiple applications:wub:

Would you guys hate me if I say that I find DA2 Anders SO MUCH MORE attractive than Awakening Anders?
His moodiness and passion contribute greatly to that attraction. He sways between extremes and tends to be harsh, but I like it so much more than the sort of silly pretty boy he is in Awakening.

All the lyrics from "Defying Gravity" from the Broadway musical Wicked sums up my final scene with a romanced Anders pretty well. From the "I hope you're happy how you've hurt your cause forever" to "I'm through with playing by the rules of someone else's game" to "Too long I've been afraid of losing love I guess I've lost. Well if that's love then it comes at much too high a cost."
Hahaha I have been applying Wicked songs to Anders for days now ^^

Personally, I look at it as a somewhat ironic observation by the writers. Anders makes a dig at an entire group which is fanatically devoted to a specific philosophy/way of life (the Qun), while he himself is blindly fanatical about winning freedom for mages at all costs. Humor ensues!

Well, i definitely have a weakness for the brooding DA2 anders :innocent:, but I find myself being sad that he lost so much of himself from Awakenings to the Justice merge. I think there's an underlying personality that carries from Awakenings Anders to DA2 Anders and that's the part that i love most about the character (if that makes sense...)

I really, really love that song, and I think it fits very well, but I can't take it seriously ever saw I saw this rendition of it. Still, added to the playlist!
