Argh so I did a rogue/Anders playthrough already and a mage/Fenris rivalmance...should I give my shiny new warrior Hawke to Anders or save him for another mage playthrough and do Merrill this time?

Hard to resist Anders...but interested in shaking things up a bit and getting new mage-y dialogue...

I noticed that quite a few people have a lot of characters with none high enough level to have finished the game... does that happen to a lot of people?
I've gone "play 1... begin... finish... play 2..."

I'm an altoholic

I also like to create characters just to try random things.  DA2 made me do something I've never done before, though.... I went right back in and did a second playthrough right after the first.  Typically I play a game once and move on to others, but not this time.

Wish there was a way to delete characters from DA2 profile like there was in DAO.  Several of my listed Hawkettes I deleted quite a whiles back...

I find it off-putting, too, and am no fan of the "I'll hurt you!" even though I know why he does it (why BW wrote it like that).

Of course, even though I really want the Karl dialogue as a female Hawke, I think that being flirtatious and lighthearted after talking about him is *also* off-putting. I wish that they would have saved that flirting for another conversation (maybe a Act 1 gift or something) because neither the "Let me expand upon my crazy/I like you, but stay away because I'll hurt you!" when you're a female and the whole "Let me talk about this man I cared for and just killed and, btw, nice beard...do you fancy me fancying you?" if you're a male really works for me.

However, the "In as much detail as you fancy" and the "Oh, I'm sure I can get more creative" are nice lines that make me little melty.

I see what you mean but given it is how it is, I'd rather have awkwardly timed flirting than somebody I just met going all Edward Cullen on me. At least the former supports how... um... desperate-creepy-clingy he is. Also yes Twilight as pejorative I know, I know...

It's hard for me to not drop everything and run off to play with the character creator again.

I doubt it'll end up as bad as Origins with my 20 warden army, especially with the Black Emporium, but still. There will be many level 3 Hawkes running around.

Wow!  I only have 3 wardens, mostly for the beginning story I only finished one (and I am way too happy with that one).  One I want to delete FOREVER because she really is ugly... ick.  And then the Cousland rogue thing bored me despite working on it to try to get to marry Alistair.  I guess marriage was not motivation enough for me to NOT BE A MAGE.
I *heart* being a mage.  Why can't mages be queens, damn it.

I only actually finished 4 playthroughs, but I had to get through all of the Origins stories at least once, and then there are the Chin-chan and random drag queen wardens...

I'll probably end up playing through it again whenever DA3 is coming out to make an Amell-mage-godbabydaddy my canon playthrough since my other mage playthrough was a solo nightmare playthrough and I skipped things and I can't import something that isn't 100% completion, dammit.

Merrill is... I dunno.  I'm like 50-50 on her.... in some YouTube videos I've seen, and from playing the game, she's got a lot of cuteness, but other times I just want to throw a brick in her damn Eluvian and tell her to pick another damn hobby.

Maybe a rivalmance with Merrill.... but she just looks so miserable there, like a kicked puppy or something.

I must admire your dedication.  I am not sure I can do DA:O again, lol.  I fiddled about enough with playing the ending bits a million times in Awakening before I got them "just right" for the DLC and then DA2 import.
I think if I continued with the Cousland rogue I'd just run around as Morrigan or Wynne leaving myself on autopilot, lol. DA2 made it a lot more fun to be a rogue archer, not as much fun as a mage, but plenty fun. And I think I will enjoy a warrior playthrough as well.
In DA:O I never saw the point of being a warrior.  Shame.

Agreed about Karl. It's odd to dismiss it for females, but not for males. I thought it provided more emotion and depth to Anders' characterization. You understand why he's so indignant towards the templars besides the mage subjugation part. It's kind of painful to see him so distressed when he talks about Karl. After all, this was the guy who first caused Vengeance to surface.

I think Anders' admonition of female Hawkes makes it hurt a little more for us who romanced him as male Hawkes. He gives you the impression that he's happy until Act 3 when he reveals that sh*t was about to go down then suddenly, you wished you were given the same warning.

:) I am a range type of player... to me the warrior always seemed like... if I wanted DW, the rogue can do it, I can pick locks... I love Alistair, always take him with me... I don't play with 2 warriors, I hate tanking... what can I do?  It's who I am.  I'd take 2 archers + 2 mages over 2 warriors/rogue/mage anyday.  Thank gawd Bioware always makes me love at least one warrior enough to want him around most of the time.  Deep roads was such a massacre with two archers (me/Varric), Bethany and Anders.  *sigh*

I always growl at having to drag rogues with me, if I'm not going to be a mage, I might as well remove that irritation :P.

Rivalry with Merrill is actually really easy, and doesn't actually include a lot of being mean to her. Destroying the Evil Tomes, not letting her have the arulin'holm, taking her into the Fade and turning down Torpor - you can gain points surprisingly quickly. Hell, just picking sarcastic options over diplomatic ones will get you plenty of points.
There are a few kicked puppy moments, like her Act II Questioning Beliefs, but as long as you have a "you're a sweetheart, but you're messing with demons, Merrill," attitude you can still get along just fine.

I never actually got to gain a full frienship with Merrill.  I played pro mage but apparently not pro blood mage enough and she really dont get sarcastic hawke so Rivalry went quick even when doing her quests.  Then the next playthrough I thought I would be super nice but then when i refused to give her the mirror fixing tool it went -145 <3 ouch...

I thought the abundant foreshadowing, Varric's concern, Anders' ridiculously dark click on commentary (I CAN'T GO ON LIKE THIS), the codexes, his deteriorating mood shown through banters etc, was enough.

The resulting hurt was a good hurt. So. Yes. I agree with you? Except that I wouldn't have wanted the warning upfront.

I didn't max out her friendship first time, but did on second.... I just remembered which quests gave rivalry points and didn't take her along.

And Threeparts... you're making me want to try it now, but...but...jeez! Decisions! :crying:

I tried drawing it down for one of my pix. It's kind of weird. Neither style makes him look less like a scruffy tired art student when I draw him haha.

I like it better up.
