OT, I'm glad someone else found it funny to name the Hawkes A, B and C

I have Anna.  But that was unintentional.

I have Alison. Also unintentional. xD

That's my real name, slightly spelled differently lol

Of course I didn't name my Hawke that to avoid confusion with my Warden. I chose Alanis instead. didn't make the ABD connection, I just like "A" names xD

Funny enough, I read a few pages back I think someone named their Hawke Andrew which is my brother :D

Here's hoping Alison Hawke was a badass of epic proportions

Am I the only one to tend to forget to name of her Hawke?

Though I take some time to name them (Marion, Evangeline and Baptiste) I tend to refer to them as Hawke more than as their first name.

Edit: forgot my new male Hawke!

*raise hand* I have a Garrett Hawke. Since the only other name I could come up with was Atticus, which is my dog's name and I'm not certain I could make a my dog-named Hawke do sexy things, I'm not too bugged by it.

And I came up with my lady Hawkes' names months ago. I even had nicknames and stuff planned for them.

I had names for 5 of my Hawkes planned out long before release. Lady Hawke was so right when she told Carver someone surely though long and hard about her name XD

My Hawkes have dreadfully boring names. The current one is William, who I am calling Will for short.

Same here.  Though I only have one Hawke (who I've replayed three times ), but I spent weeks thinking about it before I settled on Natale's name.

She certainly was! She's also my avatar at the moment. I really like "A" names too, and ABC only occurred to me halfway through Act 1. :P

Edit: Oh, and she romanced ANDERS. I'm totally on topic.

I spent HOURS looking for a good name. The random name generator kept on suggesting things like "Manasses". MANASSES.

So when I was talking to my mom I asked her to give me a name and she game me the name of the street she was walking past. It ended up sticking because, whatever. So Lenox is named after Lenox Avenue in New York City xD

All right, does anyone else have the... issue (it's not a problem!) of coming out of cutscenes and finding that Anders has crept up beside them and is now LOOMING over whoever Hawke was talking to? He won't stop it in my games: regardless of what party slot position I put him in, he still creeps up on her like he's acting as some sort of bodyguard, and hovers.

At least I get adorable screenshots out of it:

The above was taken while Gamlen is comparing Hawke to Leandra for letting that apostate boy move into her house.

I just didn't want a name to stand out over the likes of Bethany and Carver. I probably think too much into it.

This is so odd to me, that people name the characters after themselves. My bf does it, and it's too funny, cause he's Finnish too and the name doesn't even remotely go with Hawke or Shepard

I used to choose A names (I, also, have an A name), but got bored. I tend to think about the connections, like in DAO naming the Cousland girl going nicely with Fergus (F name, or something equally Scottish), or dwarven noble ending with "n", much like her siblings. Hawke's siblings had nice, earthy names, so Hawke should have one too :)

My PCs end up taking on lives of their own.  I'd originally planned Anna as a goody-to-shoes with a martyr complex.   She ended up a humorless, take-no-prisoners, badass.

I'd planned Margaret to be rather more lighthearted than she came out since Meghan Shepard's dark and angry and bitter... but not THAT bad.  Apparently, Kaidan and Garrus were bigger stabilizing forces on her than Anders was on Margaret.

Why not? It would be very Fereldan.

Threeparts, that's hilarious! I don't think it happened to me, but it is in-character for him, don't you think?

All my characters in everything are black-haired, ponytail-wearing, green-eyed tanks named Rilinda. I'm always really put off if a game messes that set appearance up :U

It's probably best that the game can't take appearance or first names into account, or else Anders would probably be really weirded out by the fact that he knows two overprotective black-haired, ponytail-wearing, green-eyed rebellious freedom-fighting warrior women named Rilinda who befriend everyone, fix everyone's problems and both have a mabari named Scrambles.

@ Zep: In that case Anders's comment that he once 'had a friend like you' takes on a whole new meaning. :D

Pretty much this. I try to choose classic names that would work both in fantasy and the real world. No "creative" spellings or names based on people or places that don't exist in Thedas. It means giving up my beloved Adelaide as a name, but there are plenty of alternatives that fit for Malcolm and Leandra: We're Totally Just Peasants' child.

That happens to me too.  And he even looks at Hawke while he's doing it.  After Act 2's romance, I chose to think of it as Anders trying to snuggle right after a skirmish and Hawke being like, "Uh, honey, not now!"

Threeparts, WHAT is your Hawke wearing in that pic? Is that...pinstripe?
