I second this alternative. That's what's so unattractive about Sebastian. He's vastly moralistic with only one narrow view of the world. When he told Anders that the Chantry will kill him, he goes on to pompously declare that Anders shouldn't compare himself to Andraste. Anders is doing something worthwhile for an ENTIRE group of people, while Sebastian sits idly, following Chantry principles and not doing a damn thing to change its injustices.

The joke will be on him when Anders ends up exactly like Andraste, with his own creepy cult to boot :innocent:

Eh, only if it involves noodly appendages. Assisted suicides and consumption of sex organs in the name of Anders....I'll have to pass.

He better have his own car emblem too - like an Anders Fish.

purr-fect

That reminds me...I love how Anders says "perfect". He goes "puuuuhhfekt". UNF. It drives me f***ing nuts.

Adam does that to you.

We have some very lonely men/women on the Bioware team when they're making hands that look like they belong to the elderly but make your mother look twenty.

There's a mod for that. Though I like the moles on Anders/any male wearing robes' hands. :?

I've heard DA2 described as "75% of a better game than Origins", and I think that sums up how I feel about it pretty well. I love what's there, but it probably would have been better if they'd had more time to work on it. Anders makes up for most of the recycled dungeons and ghoul hands, though.

All the hate really does baffle me. I haven't seen such a concentrated effort to **** all over anything since, what, furries in 2005? There are so many games that are so much worse.

I think most are in agreement that more time could have been spent on it to give us a more polished product. Love interests for me won't compisate for ****** poor execution because they are a mere fragment of a larger piece. Recycled dungeons, ninja enemies, and seven in-game years that pass like weeks just to name a few.

I don't consider Fable to be a pinacle of gaming perfection but Molyneux knows how to convey the passage of time. Their production time passed like Kirkwalls days. In a blink of an eye.

Eh, the pacing didn't seem all that quick to me, but I'm a laboriously slow completionist that absolutely cannot move forward with main plot missions until my quest log is completely empty. By the time I was done with an act I felt like I'd been in it forever.

A friend of mine was complaining to me earlier about DA2 being "short and boring", then he mentioned he skipped Fenris's and Anders's quest lines entirely and it's like what do you expect? DAO probably would have been pretty unfufilling if you just told Morrigan to shove off straight after Lothering on your first playthrough and I have lame friends

I kinda liked the moles, too.  I thought it was a cute detail (until I realized that it's a LOT of the male hands... and I swear they even popped up on my female mage when I had certain kinds of gloves equipped).

I think it's safe to say that the inspiration for Anders' story, and the plight of the mages, and the plight of the elves for that matter was drawn from real life examples, but parallels always fall down somewhere and we can't simply box this whole situation into "It was right because of this" or "it was wrong because of that."

You resume it simply and perfectly for me.  Its why they strike a chord.. its because those stories have been seen before and will be seen again too.

I am wondering though what the prophecy of Sandal will affect in the world that Anders has nudged into a no compromise way.  Sandal prophecy here www.youtube.com/watch

For that and Flemeth advice of jumping to embrace the change... makes me glad to have chosen the mages plight

WAIT... wut? O_O I never heard the second part of that *must've ditched the mansion before he finished* i wonder who he's talking about? Maybe Morrigan's Demon-God baby... one could only hope =w=

I kinda hope it isn't the demon god baby thing as that is not actually canon for half my playthroughs. :P

Yup, my fem Hawke mage had the moles too lol. I was wondering if everyone in Kirkwall had moles on their hands. Except for Bethany, her hands just look nightmarish.

I'm sure I'm super late to the name party o.O but I'm just catching up so I had to pipe in!

My characters are always Lorelei.  This time I was trying to not name Hawke the same as the warden so she ended up being Lorelai, LOL.  I messed it up so bad, it's not even funny.  She will be redone and this time shamelessly the same name as the warden, Lorelei.  I am trying to decide if I should go for the same look, I find Lorelai is the hottest of all Hawkettes thus far.
I tend to name the rest with names from Dune.  I had Alia, the rogue, and I should have kept that one for the blood mage, would have been SO appropriate.  Instead the blood mage is called Daemona, if people don't take the hint from her name to stay away, they've got nobody but themselves to blame when she pulverizes them (or apparently threatens them with a dagger cause !?!?! Bioware can't do mages threatening apparently!).
I already have names for my canons and non-canons:
Lorelei - canon with Anders
Chani - canon mage with Fenris
Sihaya - warrior for Merrill
Ghanima - no idea on class, romance with Isabela. probably [or maybe warrior for Anders]

And I'm naming my puppy Leto when I get him in May.  The boyfriend is seething.  But between my love for Leto I and Leto II from Dune and Fenris... I MUST do it.  LOL

Have to share; I had a LOL moment in my car on the way home while listening to Ke$ha's "Blow" and it made me think of Anders. "This place about to blow" was enough, but all the references to going crazy and insane and taking over just made it even better *G*

Right before my Hawke made the decision to throw her lot in with the mages, she thought, "So this is the abyss."  Then leapt merrily with her eyes open.  DA3 is going to be so epic...and I'd really like to play that game with my Hawke.  She is such win.

So.... At work today, I'm busy trying to fish out my name badge from underneath a patient's bed.  Co-worker comes by and goes, "What are you doing?"

Without even thinking, my automatic response was, "Putting out milk.  I miss having a cat around."

/facepalm

She was like,"What?"

<cue in cricket noises and awkward silence>

"Nevermind...."

Brilliant xD

I remember doing an Anders; I said 'Justice is hard' to my brother when he came in saying 'FOR GREAT JUSTICE'.

I think I may have freaked him out.

I'm not talking about how long one takes to complete the game but the fact time in Kirkwall seems to stand still. If it weren't for Varric I wouldn't have been aware that the years pass at all.
