My Hawkes, too.  I just didn't find Sebastian that attractive.  His face looks weird, and I don't like his hair.  And his accent kinda makes me giggle (MARDAR!).  He's certainly not unattractive by any means, but he just doesn't compare to Anders or Fenris in my book.

What, you mean this face?
Posted Image
There is absolutely nothing weird about his face. ;)

Then again, I stopped looking at anyone else once I got Anders on my team. But seriously, I didn't hate Sebastian. In the end, though, I just didn't care too much about him one way or another. He flip flopped around too much.

Im totally late to the party, but all I can think of when I see this face is:

"HUURRR I CAN COUNT TO POTATO."

I've heard DA2 described as "75% of a better game than Origins", and I think that sums up how I feel about it pretty well. I love what's there, but it probably would have been better if they'd had more time to work on it. Anders makes up for most of the recycled dungeons and ghoul hands, though.

All the hate really does baffle me. I haven't seen such a concentrated effort to **** all over anything since, what, furries in 2005? There are so many games that are so much worse.

I think most are in agreement that more time could have been spent on it to give us a more polished product. Love interests for me won't compisate for ****** poor execution because they are a mere fragment of a larger piece. Recycled dungeons, ninja enemies, and seven in-game years that pass like weeks just to name a few.

I don't consider Fable to be a pinacle of gaming perfection but Molyneux knows how to convey the passage of time. Their production time passed like Kirkwalls days. In a blink of an eye.

Eh, the pacing didn't seem all that quick to me, but I'm a laboriously slow completionist that absolutely cannot move forward with main plot missions until my quest log is completely empty. By the time I was done with an act I felt like I'd been in it forever.

A friend of mine was complaining to me earlier about DA2 being "short and boring", then he mentioned he skipped Fenris's and Anders's quest lines entirely and it's like what do you expect? DAO probably would have been pretty unfufilling if you just told Morrigan to shove off straight after Lothering on your first playthrough and I have lame friends

I'm not talking about how long one takes to complete the game but the fact time in Kirkwall seems to stand still. If it weren't for Varric I wouldn't have been aware that the years pass at all.

Well I hope the idea is to release many many DLCs for all the 3 year gaps. I imagine before DA3 comes out there will be so many DA2 will feel like a proper decade of events.

I've put it off for half the Act, but I've finally begun the Justice quest on this play-through.
And, oh, that nervous fiddling he does with his hand as he first approaches you just breaks my heart. He knows he's starting something huge, and I think he doesn't like the idea of deceiving Hawke, but he's still compelled to push on with it. That gesture says so much and I'm still sadfacing, even as he smiles and thanks Hawke for standing by him.

Oh, Anders, bb, why you gotta lie to Hawke? :crying:

Aww, I love that gesture.  He just looks so adorably shady.  He may as well have hung a big sign around his neck that said "HELLO, I AM UP TO NO GOOD".

Yeah, we want to help!

(and we could leave Sebby in the Chantry, or force him to go away with Elthina if we really feel that kind >.> Or pack them both on a ship to Orlais - or on Isabela's ship. Can you imagine Isabela and Sebastian on the same ship, with Sebastian with n owhere to run, nowhere to hide, nowhere to pray? Gogo Izzy)

Like my cats when they make something fall, run away, and look at me with those "Seriosly, I Know I did something bad but...really, I didn't want to...please?" There was a cute kitteh caption once..."The cuter the face, the greater the crime" Should try to find it xD Suits Anders well...

I think the bit of the game that made me sadface the hardest this playthrough was when I picked the sarcastic Hawke response to his final romance dialogue before the Gallows.  She says something about how people only talk like that when they're about to stab her in the back.  Anders says the following:

"I love you.  I wish that meant I would never hurt you."

Haha, seriously. And silly me, I was all thinking, "Aw, I'm sure whatever you're planning isn't so terrible, but you do your terrible lying thing if it makes you feel better."

And then I learned just how no good to which he was up, and went "Goddammit, Anders!" and I wouldn't have it any other way.

I felt like suuuuuuuch a freaking hypocrite when I told Cullen not to be fooled by a pretty face, the second time around as RogueHawke. XU
I wish I could have added, "And I am speaking from a wealth of personal experience, so you had better listen to me, boah."

I'm halfway tempted to rivalmance Anders this time. Just so that, when he's working on his manifesto, I can have this image in my head:

Anders: -I swear, I will have you on my side!
Calanthe*repeatedly stabbing the point of a dagger into her chair arm* Huh? I'm sorry, were you talking?
Anders: FFFFFFFFFUUUUUUUUUU- *snogsface*
Calanthe: ....I'm listening now:o

You only get the manic dialogue post-"Justice" if you're not yet eligible for the end-stage approval dialogue. So, you need to not be at 100% friend or rival and talk to him after "Justice," to get to see him go crazy-manic.

I know this is like 100 pages back, but does anyone have a youtube link to post-justice mania?

I don't know what "manic" dialogue she is talking about, the only "justice-mania" I can remember is this one in the rivalry path , more or less at 1:44

I think it's somehow worse when you choose the "I love you" option when you give him the key and he's all "Rawr. Cause." or something, totally ignoring Hawke's bared heart right there in front of him.

Oh, Anders. You are such a frustration. Why do I love you so?

I think that's the same conversation where he says "I told you I would break your heart.  Just know that it breaks mine to do it."

Yep.

When I persist in romancing Anders time and again, despite the game, the writers, Anders himself, and my own previous goddamn playthroughs telling me that he'll shatter my heart to little pieces...yeah.  I have issues.  Maybe having a healthy, emotionally stable relationship IRL allows me to pursue crazy guys in video games or something.

I just know how to avoid the worst of the pitfalls (it's fun knowing you can either have your devotion shut down ooooor you can lure him into bed. Frustrating.). Except I have to do the fight during Justice because...yeah. It establishes the ending pretty much perfectly for me.

He breaks my heart every time!  I wish Hawke had an option to say "whatever you are up to, you can trust me, I will be there for you!!!". Or to give the man a hug.

I realized the other day... as much as Anders really needs a lot of hugs and love cause he's such a tortured man... I never feel like he needs protecting.  I always see him as older than Hawke, wiser than Hawke, and a much more badass mage than Hawke.  He needs no saving!
