::snerk::  I think I love my insane Hawke as much as Anders.  I replayed the romance scene () and had something like this happen:

Anders:  I love you, I never want to leave your side
Hawke: Want a sandwich?
Anders: ...You will inspire generations of romantic poets.

Also, I think that drawing by Aristorum of Anders/M!Hawke and Justice has ruined Anders's line about Justice in the romance scene.  Now every time I hear Anders say "Justice doesn't approve...", I just see that picture and think of Justice saying "DUN DO IT"

XD I wanted to select the "I'm hungry" dialogue, but the smooshy part of me wasn't having any of it.
I nearly died of squee at the "[...] in our little threesome?" line, but I'm totally with you on that picture, it popped into my head also at that moment. XD

Speaking of, did anyone else do a happy dance when you take Anders into the Fade and you get to run around with Justice?

Question for you guys. After you do Ander's "Justice" Quest, is there any more interaction with him until the climax? I did this quest fairly early into Act 3. I just want to make sure I didn't miss out on conversation points. He still seems to be hanging out in my house, so after what he said about breaking my heart, he must still want to be around.

Now I just imagined my FemHawke making a suggestion for Justice's approval - carry out vengeance against the templars with him, romantic stuff with Anders, repeat. xD Perhaps that's something they can all agree on. If nothing else, she would have fun.

I didn't get to the part in the Fade yet, but that's great! :D It'll be cool to have Justice around for a while.

Tee hee, I did.  Maybe it's just the dialogue options I picked, but Hawke was surprisingly chilled out about that.  She was all "Anders? Huh.  'Kay, whatever.  Let's go!"

And I LOVE the threesome line.  Now I can imagine that all the hilarious speculation party banter we came up with in the old forums is true, with things like this happening in Anders's head (even if he did say that he can't talk to Justice... make up your mind, Anders!):

Justice: Hmph.  I don't approve.
Anders: You never do.
Justice: You're not married.  You should court her properly, not sneak about in the dead of night.  It's unjust.
Anders: Would you shut up?  I'm working my mojo here
::long silence as Anders and Hawke make out::
Justice: ... you should spank her.
Anders: What is wrong with you?!
Justice: What?  Women like that; I read it once.  DO IT DO IT DO IT DO IT--
Anders: FINE!  ::slap::
Justice:

I really, really want to see those poems; I imagine they will be bad. "Oh, my love - I wish to feed you a sandwich / As the Champion did to her apostate lover / In the moments before the storm" kind of bad.

...on second thought, maybe my Hawke shouldn't use that line. Imagine the new trend in romantic poetry. [shudders]

This reminded me, Justice had some really sweet dialogue in Awakening about trying to understand emotion. I can't remember his words though (been too long since my Awakening playthrough). I guess he's too focused on revenge right now for any of that?

I wonder about how Anders' and Justice's connection works too, but I'm not that far into the game, so I probably don't have all the information - just the obvious stuff that I knew before. Are Anders and Justice separate in the Fade, or does Justice take over? I would assume separate because he doesn't need to possess anyone to exist on his own in the Fade...

So here I am, all set out to play little miss evil, conniving, Villain Protagonist horrible person of a blood mage Hawke, who pulls the strings on friends, family, and politics alike.

Then Anders comes along and pretty much puts the kibosh on that. She never liked templars much either, but Anders' fervor is so infectious. He's still a good person under all that baggage, and his cause is fueled by as much justice and compassion as it is vengeance and anger. He basically cracked through to the tiny little part of her that still believes committing to a cause might be worthwhile.

...oh, this is going to end in horrible tragedy. I just know it.

**Ambiguously spoilery response here**

I'm-- still not really clear (I think I'll just peg this on denial for now) on how Anders/Justice/Vengeance coexist(only because of the way Anders refers to Justice/Vengeance later on, though he's not exactly mentally stable, which could be the reason in itself). Events in DA2 where Justice(Vengeance) is involved directly indicate that he's definitely ...changed.

To answer your question about the Fade, however; Justice/Vengeance takes over (IE it's Anders with glowy eyes), either because they didn't want to (re)create a generic(or unique)-fade-spirit, or to further enforce that Anders and Justice are one being, mostly indistinguishable and inseparable.

[...]...oh, this is going to end in horrible tragedy. I just know it.

I don't really care what anyone says about the DA2 story - the climax pretty much had my brain at what is this I don't even so hard that I got up and made myself tea so I could think straight again. In a good way!

I didn't either; Sebastian was only in my party because I was finishing his quest. My party in Act I was Varric/Anders/Carver, which I sort of dubbed Team Snark. Then after Carver left I went SOD IT, LET'S MAKE THIS TEAM MAGE and used Merrill instead. Everything sort of went up in flames after that.

That's probably about the length of time I had Seb and Anders together, also. I wanted to use more Merrill, but I couldn't resist the siren call of Gideon Emery (until he started pulling the >:| face). I am a weak, weak woman. And I just found Aveline so adorable/endearing that I couldn't leave her alone (until Carver came back at the end and it was like YES GET OVER HERE BROTHER and the Anders/Varric/Carver team was reunited! Albeit with decidedly less snark ;~; ).

Exactly what happened to me.

:o

H'boy, this is spiraling beautifully out of control. What have I gotten myself into? Anders' cause is very infectious and he is so endearing! <3 This could be a trainwreck...

So did anyone try the to romance on the rivalry path yet? I believe he's about 50% rivalry with my Lady Hawke. The only reason I did this was because I wanted to try out and pick a side I wouldn't want to. I'm pro-mage but I'm playing the devil's advocate here.

Anyway, I'm in Act 2 and Vengeance came out when he saw that one templar with the mage girl. I felt so bad for Anders crazy here. Anyway I go back to talk to him and he's like I'm writing a letter so I can convince the cleric and you about the injustices to mages.....and I feel so bad for him, he's already looking very unstable....He even suggested to leave so.....

So I'm wondering if the rivalry/romance path would snap him faster or is the friendship path not any better? I'm really curious on this. What's the difference between the two in regards to Anders?

Does anybody have any ideas? At this point I don't mind spoilers. I'm mentally preparing myself for the worst.

Longtime lurker on the various Anders fan threads finally delurking to post my (ok actually my husband's) first fan art!

Here it is!

Posted Image

I''m looking forward to finally participating in these threads actively!!!  I've really enjoyed reading along.  I'm devoting the next 72 hours to playing the game with no metagaming but after that I'm looking forward to parsing all the complexities!  (and sharing the angst I'm sure!)

Right? Holy cow, I tried to be strong for about two minutes. But between Bethany being all "It was others who protected me so that I could be free!" and Anders being so passionate, I've found myself completely on his side. As a matter of fact, I think my favorite thing before The Kiss was the sideways smile he gives Hawke during the sidequest with the apostates from Starkhaven. He looks so proud!

Also, because there was a discussion about party make up. Team Awesome for Act 1 was Warrior Hawke, Anders, Varric and Bethany. It was the Best Party. Now I have to rotate that third spot, because I can't not have this going on during every fight:

Also also, I was thrilled that my silly thread title is actually an Anders quote from the game. Posted Image

is it weird that Anders romance made me almost cry at the end ?:( .... i mean...it is so sad....and so dark..and....poor Anders...i just wanna hug him and kick J/V out :(
My initial party was ...well..90% of the time was Anders, Varric and Fenris....Blondie and Varric are just to funny :D , and i dono...i always hope that having Fenris along would make them both (Anders and Fenris ) see that their view on the mage/templar thingie is wrong.....but alas....i hoped for to much :( ...anyhow..i doubt i am making any sense here....i think im still in shock over the ending :-s

Def quoting this.

Yall should have heard the string of profanities I was throwing out about an hour ago. I stayed with him till the end (romance), if maybe for the thought of trying to keep him somewhat calmer and less "omg explosions", but that took about an hour with the game on pause for me to decide that.

My romance choices always seem to fit patterns. In origins my first playthrough I romanced Morrigan. In DA2 my first playthrough I romance Anders. Guess I'm a sucker for mages.

Aww really? Is that the one you're trying to help her hook up? I had him with me but I had Isabela too and WOW at the venom that spewed outta her mouth. Anders didn't say anything. <_<

I had Merrill with me as well, and Anders had more dialogue then her, but both contributed to the conversations in the first stage of Avelines quest. I also finished Anders Quest and sealed the deal before this one, and Aveline commented on my Hawke and Anders relationship.

I enjoyed it, and it added even more sweetness to the quest.

Playthrough no.2 go! :P

I've barely noticed any interparty banter about my romance though sadly. Varric kept making fun of Anders saying he seemed less broody since we hooked up and then my uncle commented on him moving in and said "Well I guess I know who's the girl." Bastard -_-

Haven't heard anything from anyone else. I figured Isabela would be ALL over it. Also kind of sad mother or Carver didn't comment on my flirtings with him at all.

Hi folks, just want to de-lurk a bit and say how much I love Anders. My warden had a secret crush on him and I guess it has carried over. I initially expected to romance Fenris (even though I have a mage this time) but the new-tortured and angsty Anders has hooked me unexpectedly. I made the mistake of flirting with him just to see what it's like and now my Hawke has these feelings of needing to protect him! Agh, did not expect that!

Now I'm flirting with Fenris and Anders and I feel horrible because I know my mage will choose Anders. When he looked at my Hawke and said he never expected a woman to see past his "condition" I just melted. He feels so alone and tortured that I cannot resist...

I love his banter with Seb and Fenris, he has some good zingers :)

I love those, because every time I see them it's like "Oh, he's snarking. He hasn't lost all his snark! I'm SO GLAD HE HASN'T." I really, really liked his sense of humour in Awakening and I didn't want to see him lose all of it in DA2, so I was immensely relieved the moment I saw him make a snarky little remark. ^^;
