I guess a part of me believes the change wouldn't have happened without an act like that...as crazy as it was. Glad I don't have to make decisions like this IRL. I mean, horrible things are done to the mages...

@Haerja--Soon, soon you will be...>.>

Out of curiosity with how I felt if I did kill him...

I just played through the end again to try and kill Anders and after doing it I can honestly say his end is not justified, to me anyway. All I felt was remorse from him and his need for change. He needs to live the world he has changed and deal with what he has done. Death makes him a martyr and it doesn't solve anything where he could possibly still find his way and fight this war.

That's not my pixel crush talking at all, but how I genuinely felt when doing the deed. I won't do it again.

That's what I think as well. He needs to see what the results are of his actions. He thinks he knows what will happen but there's nothing like witnessing it with his own eyes. Some will say that makes it seem like he go off easy but death is the easy way out. Merrill says he should be kept alive to make up for his deeds and I agree with her. Repent and thou shall be saved...Yes horrible Charlton Heston impression but I think you get the idea lol.

I just realized this pic is very much prophetic.

ETA:  He won't be dying in my games.  He needs to live in the world he just screwed up and see what his "justice" wrought.  Whichever one was in charge at the time.

So I was looking up old awakening banter with Anders and I found some interesting bits of conversation. Little hints towards what might have led to Anders possession. Nate being the who put the idea in Justice's head.
For this video either start from the begining or at 1:08

For this one skip the end where Anders and Justice talk around 8:07

Some rather interesting info.

He's not a malicious person. Just a troubled, troubled and possessed man.

Really sad actually.

You already get a feel for that when you head towards the final fight through Lowtown, if Anders is in your party he says "This- This is worse then I thought." or something similar. So I agree completely.

Couldn't have said it better myself Tallon. I also seriously contemplate that something like this may have HAD to happen to invoke a change in the DA world.

This is generally how I feel as well, although my pixel crush certainly has an effect on it.  The same kind of pixel crush worked in the opposite direction in Origins when I killed Loghain to placate Alistair, after all.  XD

I would consider killing him with my Lady Hawke who will rival-mance him (though I haven't made her yet) if there was a different kill animation for a romanced Anders.  Part of the reason she will be rivals with him is because she's willing to look Anders square in the eyes and disagree with him.  She wouldn't simply stick a knife in his back and walk away.  She would face him, and she would hold him as he died.

I just think it is more complex then some people think ie: "KILL THE TRAITOR!"

There are two spirits stuck in that body. It's a complex situation.

I don't think what Anders did would of happened if it wasn't for the stupid relic. To me it boils down to that damn relic being found and corrupting people even more (Bartrand, Meredith...Perhaps even Anders a bit). That damned relic should have been destroyed and considering when you see the influence it had over Meredith in the end one would think hm maybe we should consider this as the trigger for everything. The Revered Mother was also weak too but I think she had more fear than anything else. She should of left when she was told to.

Yeah, I didn't like that killing option, either. It was way too... easy. And I do agree with the poetic justice -- letting him live so he can see what kind of "justice" he has brought to the world, and so that he can fight for what he believes in and try to achieve the world that he dreams about, instead of becoming a martyr.  Andraste was a martyr in her cause, but she fought first. My Mage Hawke wasn't gonna play that game.

It depends on how you're roleplaying.  He's an abomination that has killed a lot of people.  Killing him doesn't have to be revenge or harsh justice, rather a preventive- i.e., he's too dangerous to let live.

I don't think I will ever be able to kill him, but... I think I will try it >_< I just want to know what happens (uh... you know what I mean "xD)
I'm sure I'll cry. :pinched:

... Aaargh... I said that I would draw a comic with Anders but I'm not sure if I am good enough "xD
I wanted to show what I thought HE would do or think. Right after what happened in the short story and ... I don't know... maybe what happened in the years we didn't see in the game. I will draw something and show it to you... if you want D:"

Even though I kill noone, not even the characters I don't like. It's also a stupid reason for killing a character <_< But I think it would be even worse for Anders if they made him tranquil. :crying:

Oh I have no doubts about that on Merrill. In all honesty it probably touches everyone in some manner. I sort of wish when Meredith turned into a new relic I could have just destroyed it entirely. Dust in the wind.

The problem, Sarah, is that the templars are no longer with the Chantry. Varric mentions that the Circles have separated from the Chantry, along with the Templars. How are the mages going to fall back in line with the Chantry when they have to contend with the loss of their armies?

Yes, that Relic brought a lot of ugly things with it. Soon after it was found was when things REALLY got sour in Kirkwall. But I also believe that Mages in Kirkwall were always treated more horribly than mages in other parts of Thaedas. Either way, there has to be another solution for mages.

No "Tranquil Solutions" right? ;) lol I agree. The mages need more freedoms. It's like when you grab a handful a sand. The tighter your grip the more grains slip between your fingers or as Princess Leia would say the more you tighten your grip tarken the more star systems will slip through your fingers or something like that.

Exactly. I think the iron grip is what turns a lot of mages to blood magic, etc.

Either way, morals and politics aside...

I do love me some Anders. Might do some fan art tonight...
