I have no idea what is going on in this pic but drawing them doing cute gay stuff is helping me de-stress :|

Also Farron is totally lying, he's a big ginger tabby named Ser Puts-Up-With-A-Lot.

Anders is a tall skinny dude in my head canon.

So cute. <3

The thing with The Boss is she had this tragic life but didn't whine about it. She did everything for her country.

The Boss didn't make me baww too much. MGS4 Raiden makes me bawww hardcore though. Its a fight to the death in my head between him and Anders for favorite Woobie of Ultimate Destruction. Though with Raiden it's Woobie of Ultimate Self Destruction and with Anders its... yeah. Not.

My enjoyment of Raiden's particular brand of tragedy porn is tempered by the fact he was gutted to try to make him more likeable, and not a genuine, deliberate effort to break him for the sake of delicious suffering like with Anders. it doesn't hurt enough

I thought about that, but Fenris and Donnic hang out on a weekly basis and Aveline has no idea until he tells her. So I think it's entirely possible that Donnic has talked to Anders, too.

But we know the Mage Underground is real, because there's a Codex entry and you help them. We know that Alrik was a sexual sadist because we see him tell Ella that she'll do whatever he wants as a Tranquil.

I do think he's paranoid, but I don't think he lies except for when he tells you about the potion. Mostly because he's a terrible liar then. "My love", my ass.

The Mage Underground is real, sure, but what if Anders lied about his involvement, claiming he knew, saw and did more than he ever had? And Alrik's words could be read in a completely innocent way as well, given how the mages are compliant and useful as Tranquil.

I'm not suggesting that he is lying or crazy as the reality, but exploring how it would change our views of the character if it were the case. Hypotheticals are yum. ^_^

Regarding Alrik, there's a tranquil mage at the Gallows whose lover or husband (I don't remember which, and I'm not sure if it was said) comes to her, trying to get her to remember who he is. She tells him she belongs to Ser Alrik now. It's heavily implied he's slept with her, and in those conditions it would be rape. I really don't know how you can read the guy in an innocent light.

I do think Anders' is a bit paranoid. Heck, he thinks he's paranoid at times. But then people like Alrik remind him why he's paranoid.

Raiden is ... my favourite ever. I could not believe I got so attached to him and I wasn't even playing the game! (just watching)

I know right? Then I played and was like... ohlksajfl;asdjf. I don't know what it is, he pushes all my buttons.

Also bonus creepy nemesis. Vamp! I aspire to design a character that makes people feel as uncomfortable as Vamp does.

Indeed.

It kind of sucks that I don't really get any OMG Why?!? endings in DA2.  The closest is siding with the templars and having Anders attack you but Hawke doesn't even gave a second thought to Anders' death so it felt really flat.

Alistair on the other hand. Oh god Alistair. Even though I knew it was coming Alistair killing himself was just..so...so. *baws* That and the US ending made me cry.

I don't recall crying except during All that Remains. And even that was just a little tear because of how heartbroken my Hawke sounded. Otherwise Frankestein mom was kind of a uh-huh. Sad but not too sad. Not like origins. I felt no genuine rage towards Gascard and his master. Just irritation. And once it settled I'm kind of bleh. only Orsino gets me angry and even that is weak compared to the red eye monster Howe gave me. DAO was just better at getting me emotional.

Yes. One of my favorite female characters ever.

Helps that she wasn't a jerk to be a jerk. Nor did she act (to me at least) like she was oh so wise and everyone else was oh so dumb.

I don't know. I just can't take Raiden seriously in those shoes. I just can't.

I was wondering what the heck was with all that crap I was hearing.  Now it makes sense.  But I'm weirded out completely.
UGH

I mean, they turned his tranquil solution down, but was anyone going to stop him from turning women tranquil and sleeping with them?

I love that game. It's so incredibly ridiculously postmodern and meta. Creepily so. Ingeniously so.

Its a game about you, the player, in some ways. Blows my mind.

Though I don't think gutting him was about fixing an unpopular character, I thought it was a logical continuation of how he kind of broke at the end of MGS2 when he realized he was a tool in a literal 'real life' video game. Then he went and became a literal tool. Sort of.

Especially considering it made it look like you forced him. Even when you didn't. :( And no one seems to care but you.

But god the speech he gives before killing himself. Beautiful.

Same with the US speech.

Hawke's speech in comparions was just...weak.

I think it's partially I felt Hawke played no pivotal role. Anders was more of a plot motivator than Hawke was. With Shepard I was like, "Hell yeah! Saving the universe! I am so badass!" or with the Warden "Traveling with my mates, going to kill the darkspawn horde!" With Hawke it was like, "Here's your shawl. I could use a drink." I'm an average Jane in real life and I have no desire to be one in a game as well. Nothing I said mattered. The general intelligence of the NPCs around me barely registered and left me frustrated. I lost every member of my family in the game aside from Gamlen and in all honesty I could care less.

Again, I'm talking hypothetically - I'm not trying to argue that Alrik was a nice person, but what if he was innocent and Anders' belief in his abuses were are paranoid as his belief that Meredith and the Divine would agree to the Tranquil Solution? I haven't heard the conversation in the Gallows so I don't know the exact wording used, but what if you read it as Alrik having fallen in love with that Tranquil and, yes, taken her to bed?

If you look at it from the idea that Anders is lying to us (whether consciously or not) about all the terrible things that the Templars do, it gives a fascinating angle to the events of DA2. The Grey Wardens and the Templars aren't actually interested in finding him, his past isn't nearly as tragic as we imagine, his possession might never have been what he claims - it might not even be the Justice from Awakening if all we had to go on was the word of a pathological liar. :o

No, and if it is, I'm right there with you

Yeah Hawke was just...kind of there.

And the forced killing/losing of your family really sucked. Frankly my Hawkes would've left Kirkwall at the end of act 2. By then they were just done. Alas. Plot demands I stay in the demon infested hellhole for another 3 years even when I have nothing keeping me there. <_<

This is so offtopic but I don't care.

ITS A GAME ABOUT THE GAME ABOUT THE GAME IN A GAME ABOUT THE PLAYER. Kojima tricked you into playing yourself playing Metal Gear Solid. And made fun of you for it. It was great. HAH THIS CONVENIENT VIDEO GAME SUPPORT SYSTEM? The colonel is a lie. Armor? YOU CAN'T HAVE ANY. One man versus infinite tank killing tanks it's a video game right trolol.

It's so good.

Yeah, my Hawke told Fenris "I stay here for my family." when really in her head she was going "The game developers won't let me leave!"
