I would have clung to his boot so hard and gone, "Please....take me with you These people...They're crazy.:crying:."

Why not just leave your manifesto hanging around for them to read?

I'm sure they'll love it. It worked out well for Anders.

An excellent idea. I'll sneak into their houses at night and plant reading material in their beds. Might as well steal their undergarmets while I'm there. Thanks, Anders, you're a great role model!

I wonder if Anders would have even left. I don't think he would. The old Anders would have but the new one was clear he couldn't ignore the crimes against his fellows. He only would have left after he felt he'd done all he could.

Yeah, I'm also a fan of tall scrawny Anders.

Skinny? Scrawny? Both. It always sorta weirded me out that he was as buff as -- well, everyone.

Thedas has a b*tchin' system of gyms.

Seriously, Anders' character model should have been thinner. I dunno about the logistics of making him taller, but his model could have been slighter.

In my head canon my character doesn't necessarily look that... built or triangular either. He's a mage, not exactly the pinnacle of bodybuilders there hmm somewhat thin man on skinnier man ohohoho. Nor would he have the Hawke baby hair if I had anything to say about it *sobs*

WAS A NICE, SHORT, ANDY-WHITFIELD-AS-SPARTACUS HAIRCUT TOO MUCH TO ASK FOR?!

:crying:

I miss the portraits.

I wanted to give my hawke the "derp" face of the expressions in the portraits.

And Idk, i figure Hawke would be pretty buff, in a stringy sort of way (like a bad steak!) He probably hits things instead of uses magic. That was my thought. Because, seriously, with torque, it doesn't take much strength to hurt things. That's why we're on top of the food chain: sticks with heavy or sharp things on the end we can hit **** with.

Oh god I miss the expressions, lol. My Amell just has the perfect, skeeziest grin on his face that is like, completely representative of his character. Hawke has expressions in the game but not in the portrait, while the opposite is true for the Warden.

I don't think my Hawke is out of shape/super skinny or anything, just with a slighter/less muscular build than he has in the game (and with a shape leaning more toward trapezoidal than triangular because it is my head and I do what I want in it lol). Definitely not like the padded McBeefybuffman he looks like in his man dress, nor would he have the GIANT ARMS from the champion mage armor xD Definitely not as big or buff as a warrior would be.

Also, I imagine him shorter than Anders now. Because someone has to be shorter or else I hate everything.

After selling the mansion, I can't see Varric all that attached to whever he was.  He sounded more attached to people than a place in a convo he had with Aveline about why he's still around.
Isabela would be the first to support the idea of leaving.  Aveline on the rivalry path is seriously wanting to go back to Ferelden actually, I think she could be convinced, with Donnic and all.  The only one that's iffy is Anders cause... omg, the poor and the mages, must help!

I'm being all flippant.  Canon Hawke with Anders was totally about mage freedom, but I think she'd have rather just been a grey warden or something.  All them people calling her champion and looking up to her... UGH.  And canon Hawke with Fenris was getting a little tired by act 3... she probably would have high-tailed it back to Ferelden or pretty much anywhere else with her sexy elf.

I am telling you, I wanted to pack up Anders, Fenris and everyone else, BUY a ship (why did we need to make a deal with a douchebag for a ship for Isabela when Hawke can afford one)... and get the hell out of there.
Go find the warden or something.  Or simply just go.

And why didn't anyone try to step up to become viscount in 3 years?  The templars and chantry have gone mad with the power.  lol

Yeah my Hawke's weren't packing anyone. Those lot where part of the problem. Especially Anders crazy self. I love him but he certainly wasn't helping.

Maybe Fenris. Maybe. But everyone else could kick rocks. Varric was chill. Aveline didn't want to leave, Izzy left, Merrill was fixated on that mirror...Anders was planning on blowing up the Chantry and being a revolutionist.

My Canon Hawke didn't want that headache.

As for Vicount I see it as no one wanting to deal with those crazy templars and mages. I can't blame them. Half the people in Kirkwall were bat****.

Yeah, that's why I ultimately had to write my own version of the ending in a fanfic. Never written one before but the game left me feeling there could have been more. There wasn't enough tears, gnashing of teeth etc. It just was. Steered by the way the developers wanted it.

To me it felt just like a JRPG. Just like one. And I say this as someone who likes JRPGs.

The developers focused too much on the story they wanted to tell vs. Letting the player tell a story. It's all over the narrative.

DAO felt like just the right mix between them telling the story and letting me muddle with it. DA2 is just...ugh. Railroading, railroading. It managed to railroad me more than ME2 did.

And really a non mage Hawke should've been able to takethat "screw you guys I'm outta here." choice. Mage Hawke I can see as being cut down if s/he refused. Warrior/Rogue Hawke should've been able to walk away.

If you read codex about his life between Act II and Act III, it says he has stepped away from whole mage revolution thing for awhile after the event of Dissent.

@AnniLau Only if Anders could come too. Which reminds me, I did Anders/Alistair slash once. Anyone interested? 'Cos it's not quite so AU as I thought when I wrote it :D:

DA:2 felt like I was playing D&D with a very strict dungeon master who is always going "You people are ruining my story!" whenever the players try and kill NPCs.
Cause you know, I would have killed a lot of the NPCs in this game if the developers had but let me! Some I eventually kill, some never get killed and some get killed by others. Like Petrice. Talk about stealing my thunder Qunari!

I love the game, I actually got attached to the characters (some of them), but really... railroading to the max. *sigh*

come back expressions. I love you.

And the Warden had some expressions. I remember him being like SUDDEN EYEBROW RAISE. And also the lolsy face when he has sex.

Haaaaaaaa. So many funny faces.

T-trapezoidal? And right, the arms in the mage armor are freaking huuuuuuge. Hawke looks like he musta been taking magical steroids. He probably gets angry and his balls are tiny.

I saw my Hawke as roughly the same height as Anders. Carver was the shorter, bulkier brother. Built like a bear, that one.

I hated Mother Petrice. Talk about a giant stubborn psychopath thorn in Hawke's side.
You know, because Hawke didn't have enough to deal with pulling Fenris and Anders apart 90% of the time, and trying to keep all of her party members halfway sane. I mean, COME ON.

See, if Hawke had made a break for it while the Qunari mess was going down like she wanted to, Anders would probably have been happy to start his revolution in a different city. Aveline might have hated her forever (Fenris already did), but it would have been worth it to get the hell out of that place.

If I had the choice, my Hawke would never have accepted the Champion title, given that she was dragged into these circumstances against her will and thought the city was a hot mess from the start when she found refugees being forced to live in the ****ing sewers and mages housed in a converted prison island.
She was stuck while she was a refugee, but once she had money and resources and no mother to worry about? Ha! She was only too pleased to blow that joint after the Chantry went up in smoke.

Why couldn't Bethany have agreed to let us look for another city to move to after those three days stuck in the Gallows waiting for Gamlen? :crying:

This is why I love Bethesda in all their buggy glory. You can kill an NPC just because you didn't like the way they said "Hello!".

He's also the same templar responsible for making Karl tranquil. As soon as I heard that, I was already all up on his grill ready to cut a b****.

Clearly not a character you can defend...at all.

Actually, when you finish killing the templars in the chantry right before the Karl De-Tranquiled Cutscene kicks in you can raid the LT. Templars corpse, gotta do it fast though, and read his letter from Sir Alrik. It's a fair depiction of what an utter jackass he truly is.<_<

I've never caught this before. Thanks! I'll keep that in mind with my warrior Hawke.

What puzzles me, is what the hell was I doing in the time gaps.
Anders was helping mages, Fenris apparently did some mercenary job (with me, no idea, don't remember exactly teh codex) and was doing coreographic routines, Isabela was drinking, Varric was managing whatever business he had. Aveline was the only one with some real duty.
What was I doing? Retrieveng lost corpse parts for a guy in the Chantry that accidentally lost it? Finding random rings/scarfs/pants/insertuselessobjecthere and delivering them all around Kirkwall?

I could have seriously bought a ship and set sail with whoever wanted to follow me. I suspect Isabela and Fenris at least would leave, no real reason to stay.
As for Anders, I would help him plant the bomb if he really wished, but when the Chantry goes boom I would already be far away from the port. Good luck everyone, this city sucks!

Yeah, I played Oblivion for like 100+ hours and barely got anywhere with the main story.  I was too busy running around the countryside doing quests with Martin in tow.  And losing him sometimes.  o.O

And then I gave up because, you know, I had to do RESEARCH sometimes or else they kick me out... and 6 months later came back and was like "o.O Where the hell am I? How does it work? Should I kill this dude or do I have to sweettalk him into giving me the key?".  And then I gave up.
FF12 and Oblivion are not games to give up mid way.  High level characters when you don't know what you're doing is a bad idea, lol.
