Haha, I'm glad I'm not the only one.  When they announced Anders as companion and LI, I was, "Arrgh, why couldn't it be Nathaniel and as if he wasn't irritating enough now he's gonna be GRIMDARK and blarrrgh bloody Anders grumble.." and figured that I'd just have to settle for an ME2-style no-romance run.

Now I'm all, "Anders, I wish I knew how to quit you."

I also think whoever it is needs to be attacking Meredith and accumulating some threat so she'll attack them. I never played the end battle with Aveline in my group so Fenris accumulated the most threat (except for me but I was too freaking far away for her to do anything about it).

The second time I played through on the PC, I decided to kill her with the console cheat. Well, this left her with one hit point and pissed her off. She didn't summon any statues and she focused all of her cheater-hating rage on my rogue who she chased around and around the room - none of the other NPCs could peel her. She just kept knocking me down and stunning me until I reloaded. LOL
So that's one way to accumulate threat...

I was the opposite...when I found out he was a romance option I was estatic. I loved him from Awakening, he went just about everywhere with my warden. Then again his personality in Awakening is a lot like my husbands, so maybe that is why I am so attracted to him...lol.

I'm exaggerating a bit; I did like Awakening Anders.  Not at first, because I thought he was going to be irritating, and not as much as Nathaniel, but he really grew on me.  He and Nate never left the party so far as I can remember.  In hindsight, I wish I'd brought Justice around more often to hear his and Anders' banters.  Perhaps it's time to reinstall... 

I do prefer DA2 Anders, though.

*grin* Had to share it - well, mainly cause this is my fave Anders mod to date, and I can't even recall who it is by - tis at the Nexus though. But also cause this playthrough should be fun!

On the left - tortured, fanatical, spirit-inhabited male. On the right - antagonistic, flirtatious, destruction-loving blood mage. It's a match made in... well, somewhere.

I have also never gotten any of those romance related battle cries from Anders. Actually I never got any romance related "walking around" dialogue from him afaik :/

I mean I did get inter-party romance related banter, but never when I clicked on him.

Which reminds me, did anyone else get that little banter between Merrill and Anders in act 3, where she says that Hawke seems happy and asks Anders if he's happy with him/her as well, and he says he is, and Merrill replies something among the lines of "I'm glad, you've been much too gloomy lately". It was so sweet.

And yeah, I like the Merril/Anders banter. She's nicer to him than she should be, since he's such a dick to her. Not that I'm one to talk, I'm usually not very nice to her either. Rival 4 life!

Is Anders supposed to be The Ultimate Love Interest? I mean, Anders romance cancels all others. You sleep with Isabela. Then flirt with her. After a while you try to bed Fenris, but can't since you're now in a relationship with Izzy. BUT you can go and make out with Anders, then sleep with him, then live with him, even if you haven't flirted with him before. Peculiar.

And as for clicky romantic lines: in Act 2 you get the "I dont know if i should cherish every moment i am with you etc." and in Act 3 if you click on him before you've spoken to him in your house or accepted any quests from him he will say: "It is still a thrill to turn and see you beside me"

Really, Fenris leaves you, Anders even if you flirted only a little, throws himself at you basically, then it is hard to resist >.> And you don't resist, and drama ensues (and Fenris keeps being sad over Hawke, and you have all those banters with Anders-Fenris-Isabela). And you can't rekindle the other relationships after you went with him. I think they really tried hard to make him the final LI, probably it makes sense since he is like the porotagonist of the whole story. Seriously. I felt like my Hwake was just there watching >.>

Seriously, I don't think he was really supposed to be The One for Hawke, but Hawke is definitely The One for Anders. I think it adds a lot to his character, even if you don't romance him. My boyfriend is about as dim as dim can be when it comes to people hitting on him and even he's like "Anders is really into me, yeah?" He's just so emotional and his feelings for Hawke are overwhelming and he can't always keep them in check, whether Hawke reciprocates or not.

It's sad and endearing at the same time.

That was the first romance specific dialogue I heard from party members in my initial run. It was really cute. Ironically, though, it was during the start of Merrill's first personal quest. So, not long after Merrill being very sweet, Anders started b****ing away at her again.

Just happened to think that even Anders Always Adored you (you know, everything with the A is stylish xD) could be fitting too. He adores you really, as a puppy I would say. Even if it is not love, even if you didn't ever romance him...for a reason or another, he is just there clinging to you and looking for your support and appreciation and affection.

Lady Hawkes really do miss out on not hearing that thing about loving a whole person. About one of the sweetest things I've ever heard in the DA game series.

It is the cutest. He sounds like he would barely comprehend that people exist who prefer one or the other if you told him.

Also as has been said before, Isabela would make the best hag.

It makes me want to roll an army of dude Hawkes for him :|

Merrill is the same, I think, but I dunno.
Fenris is the only one that is very particular.  You can easily mess up.  I know people who have done Isabela/Fenris/Anders, but I know they had to tell Isabela that it was just fun.
Afterall, Fenris is the only one that asks you if you're sure you're not interested in other people even if you didn't even flirt with anyone else.  He can't believe Hawke is interested in him, an elf and a previous slave.  
And if you do the Isabela in relationship and then go with Anders, I believe you get the ending glitch where Varric says Isabela/Anders at the same time, or says you end up with just Isabela.
