I should write a college AU more like my own experiences, with exhausted, frazzled, coffee guzzling, socially anxious pre-med Anders and smelly, greasy, self-diagnosed Ass Burgers arrogant computer science/engineering Hawke.
::snerk:: Yeah, my college experience wouldn't be the best for a video game college AU. It would involve Anders snapping at his roommates because he totally has an o-chem test in the morning and could you guys please not practice your trumpets right now because it's 2 a.m and these functional groups are going to memorize themselves.
...actually, I think that would be a GREAT AU.
I'M TRYING TO MEMORIZE THE KREBB'S CYCLE SO WOULD YOU PLEASE SHUT THE **** UP.
And his room mate, Hawke (who is on the Uberman sleep schedule), is playing WoW or one of those hentai dating games and SUDDENLY TENTACLES.
There is nothing sadder or more stressful than being the only science-y/pre-med person in your social circle. Everyone else just wonders what on earth you could be doing in a lab twelve hours out of the day, and they go out and have fun without you.
Or they convince you go to have fun with them and you fail all your tests! That's fun too. That would definitely be Hawke... always convincing Anders that his studying can wait, it's no biggie, let's go down to the bar...
Right?
I switched from sciece to Japanese late, but many of my friends were in acting/japanese/business (my other friends in the sciences I didnt' see much once we weren't living together in the apartment or labs), and they never got the pain.
They were like "oh, this paper is so hard" and I'd be like, "yeah. God, and then you have to do lab on top of it?" and they'd be like "olololol, wat?" It's a different pain.
It's such a sunny, lovely day today. I'm going to go commute for two hours to hole myself up in a lab and play with nanoparticles and DNA. Which sounds cool and everything, but I just want to go out, sleep in the park, drink a beer and watch the butch, young women of the mission district pull out their bikini tops.
