Because it's so difficult to get those rivalry points back up *sighs at stupid people*

For ficcing purposes... I think it's safe to refer to Anders' eye color as hazel, right?

Also, does someone want to educate me really quickly on when it would be Anders' or Anders's? I never could keep that one straight in my head.

I always thought they were honey colored. That happen to change lightning blue when the goin' gets ruff.

BTW - its Anders's, if you are going for proper grammar.

Hey, he did not say anything about my eyelashes and butterflies. Drown us in blood to keep me safe? That's okay. But stay the hell away from my eyelashes.

Oh my God, I thought I was the only one who went  at that. One of my dudefriends was all, "Oh come on, she's just joking with you," but I think he is blinded by her accent or something, because I think Leliana is barking mad.

I was a little :? at the drowning in blood thing, but for some reason, the eyelashes and the watching me sleep bugged me way more. My dude that was romancing her quickly decided Zevran was the man for him after that.

They were hazel. Now they're just straight up brown, IMO.

I prefer Anders'.

I thought brown, too, in the game. That screencap with the glasses, though... *squints* they really look hazel in it.

I think there's a rule on when to use each version correctly, but I can never remember it, and I've never written a fic where character's name ended in "s" before.

Dons English Major hat:  "Anders' " is the correct designation.

I think they're mad because of the rivalry points you get if you turn him down. Because apparently it is offensive to show a person getting upset if they're turned down by someone they were romantically interested in. And it's definitely a major hit in terms of rivalry points that can never, ever be recovered since you don't have many chances to get friendship points with him. Trololol.

Yeah, I will never understand this. Why are people so very adverse to getting a few rivalry points? Is it so inconceivable that perhaps you may say something to someone that upsets them? And with Anders, it's ridiculously easy to get more friendship points with him if you want them.

This is the dumbest thing. All of the LIs hit on you in very inoffensive ways, and to get worked up about a small rivalry gain for shooting them down is dumb as hell. What are they supposed to do, be happy about rejection?

People rage about the most ridiculous things.

I think its because he hits on a straight guy? Idk. Anders is Anders. And it's not like us gay folks don't hit on straight people. I mean, how would you know if they were straight or gay or pan/bi/whatevs otherwise?

WAIT, YOU PEOPLE DON'T WEAR SIGNS??? You mean there might be gay people ON MY STREET and I DON'T KNOW????

Ug. So stupid. If someone turned me down after I flirted with them, that wouldn't get friend points, I tell you what. People need to just take it like an adult. Girls and guys. LGBT people exist and the game isn't even dealing with really "threatening" things, like trannies and genderqueers.

Let's see how Mike Hawke takes bromance with a manly mc manly dude who he funds out has a vagoo. That'd be ... Heh. Awesome, really.

It must have been the giant "I'm a gay" sign Hawke wore around his neck, idk.

David gaider:

I kind of wonder if this is someone's attempt to stir up more hate against BioWare by claiming to represent a group they're not even part of? In addition to being misleading, I mean.

Of the characters you can romance in the game, Merrill and Fenris will not make any kind of romantic overtures unless you flirt with them first. Period. Anders, meanwhile, does indeed come onto you in his first quest-- if you are nice to him. If you turn him down then, you get some rivalry points (which are not a punishment-- rivalry is a path towards a relationship just as friendship is) and that's the end of it.

If someone wants to paint that as sexual predation or an example of "all gays" when it's not even an example of all the potentially gay relationships in the game -- that's pretty laughable. But there's no shortage of ignorance, and evidently no shortage of people with an axe to grind. Which is too bad.

If someone wishes to take out their anger on me personally, I suppose that's fine. I'm an easy target, speaking as I do on these forums. I'm quite glad I get the opportunity to include more gamers in our content, and I couldn't do so without the explicit support of my superiors -- but that won't stop some people from being very unhappy in general.

So shine on, you crazy diamonds. But spreading hate on these forums is unwelcome-- not just against me, but in general. I'm sure there are other places on the internet where such ignorance is welcomed.

Well Gaider handled it gracefully. Seriously, I was reading some of his posts for DA:O and the time he spends trying to reason with people - and the patience he has with idiots – it’s admirable really.

I want a sign, actually. Someone might take pity on me when I stutter at them and ask me out instead of assuming I'm just looking for the restroom.

I will never understand how you can pick a glowing heart and not expect something romantic.

Though that comic is hilarious.

The rules were changed when I was in college in the early 90s.  You don't need the second "S" any more.
