I did go to Gamlen and he says to my femhawke the same thing but says at the end you really are your mother's daughter.

I know! Gamlen actually grows on me throughout the game. Poor left-behind Gamlen.

I like it best when you discover he has a daughter...And when you find out Anders is like you have a cousin? In like a hm this could be interesting kind of way. And then Hawke is I have a cousin? in a the **** has hit the fan kind of way lol.

I couldn't help but end up loving Gamlen.

I would've moved him out of his crapshack if they let me. then he could evaluate the relative manliness of hawke and anders firsthand

I would've too. I was hoping it would be an option after your mother passes.

And that would be totally awkward for poor Gamlen. :o Which thrills me, of course.

Oh, and by the way, has anyone went to Gamlen's house and talked to him after you move Anders in?
For male Hawke, he's like, "So I hear you moved that apostate boy into your house....don't have to ask who the girl is." LMFAO >:D

I always thought this line was meant to be derogative. That or Gamlen's just being a jackass.

......did he mean Anders was the girl?

I believe so. His "damsel in distress" line in Best Served Cold gave it away.

lol, I didn't think about that. Was wondering why Fenris took 4 templars down with him, but Anders didn't >_<

@Dunizel: That was precious :lol:

Gamlen: You have a bedroom, use it!
Hawke: Its my estate!
Gamlen: Yes but  can you at least set some limits? I am so tired of walking into the kitchen, taken by surprise....

Why do all my male Hawkes look the same?
-throws controller down in a fit of rage and stomps off to finally walk the dog-

Mine all look similar because I cannot say no to sideburns. So they all have the same stupid jawline.

I also tend to make them dark haired because it looks more right with the siblings, I feel a little weird running around as a blonde with my dark haired sibs (although I finally went SCREW IT and did it anyway, but now he looks like Anders' distant cousin and that's messing with me in a different way). There's mods to change the Bethany/Carver hair to blonde or red but that just looks freaky to me. They have black hair FOREVAR in my brain.

Aww, I like my reddish haired Bethany for alternate, non-canon version of my dude because I really want to play warrior but I don't want to play another Hawke blue eyes are enough of a difference lol. But it feels more wrong on Carver, who I switched but don't really like without black hair.

Also, practically every guy in this game has really shiny, pillowy lips

My issue may have been I was playing a mage, so it was red haired bizarro Carver I was hanging out with. I might try the blondes at some point but I doubt it. Ain't no thang, black hair is fine!

I need a mod that saves Bethany from her awful haircut when I make a darker skinned Hawke. It's this bowl cut ... thing. Mom's hair is nothing to write home about either. Carver is dead, so he is beyond caring about his hair, at least.

EDIT: Also, I'm glad I'm not alone in the "Uncle Gamlen totally grew on me" camp.

My Hawke ended up looking pretty much exactly like MamaHawke.

And Gamlen... man, just when I thought I was starting to like him, I heard about the "GUESS I KNOW WHICH ONE'S THE GIRL LOL" and the "I ALWAYS WONDERED HOW TWO CHICKS GET IT ON" lines and it's like... no, gtfo gamlen. When I hit Act II the first time I cheered a little bit when I found him still living in his shack in Lowtown :U oh well I guess I still like him a little bit

*LOL*

He moved into MY mansion. He shows up looking for mother and then never leaves. He's always standing in the doorway to the library/study or whatever, right near Sandal and Bodahn. But creepily, whenever I go back to his place, he's always there, too.

He DID end up bugging out on my first playthrough. After Leandra died, he sat around in my house for the rest of Act II going "I CAN'T BELIEVE LEANDRA IS DEAD"

But then disappeared back to his hovel in act III and I'm just like why can't I adopt you you irritating old man

Aw, I thought those lines were cute. He's so adorably surly and inept.

Ah, I just hit Act III again. I'll have to see if he's still there.

I've always loved that quest because Anders looks so amused. It makes me think of Awakening Anders and makes me happy in my fangirl heart.

Okay THIS IS NOT MINE, but I stumbled upon this piece of Anders fan art and thought it's too good to not share (I made it my desktop background). The artist did this piece for Awakening. Check out her profile because she has a lot more really great DA fan art.

I'm still addicted to character creators. Thank the Black Emporium for enabling my hours-long time wasting sprees.

I so love that you said this. I feel like I play Dragon Age like I play The Sims...in a sense. If my character is not looking cute or dressing awesomely, it kind of sucks for me. I've been known to change outfits mid-battle, just because. The Black Emporium fixes my desire for red lipstick, occasionally.

I think this is why Dragon Age is so awesome. People get many different kicks out of the play experience.

I also think this is why I was disappointed that companion outfits stayed more or less the same.

I suspect there's a fair amount of crossover between Sims players and DA players, actually.

I just picked up the Sims Medieval myself.  Yes, it exists.  If I start creating certain DA characters in that game, cough cough, ahem, I will not be held responsibe for my actions....

I'd like to see this. Anders doesn't look okay in a cardigan and slim jeans.

*grin* Most of the time I change my makeup to match my outfit. Not this playthrough though - I have to try and match my outfit to my hair and makeup, since that's the look.

I'm not far enough into it to say much -- DA2's been hogging most of my gameplay time (with a brief interlude over in ME2 to play Arrival) -- but I think it's going to be my weekend reward once I finish my taxes.  ;)

It's much more focused than a regular Sim game, which can be good or bad, depending on what you like the Sims for. I like it, but some of my friends wish it was more sandboxy.
