I would certainly agree with that. After losing Bethany to the Wardens on my rogue, I had to take Anders everywhere or rely solely on health pots. While I enjoy his character, it would have been nice to rotate more members of my party in and out, rather than that one slot taken up by the single healer. 
But I think that's more a complaint with the game design and the way they choose to implement the individual character specialisations, rather than a problem with the character himself.

Agreed.  I'll have to learn to separate Anders the character from Anders the unit on the game's battlefield, if that makes sense.  That should make his presence more bearable.  The mods have already fixed another glaring issue I had with him, no pun intended.  His face bugged me, but that's just a matter of personal preference.  He reminded me too much of Keanu Reeves.

Rivalmance dialogue killed me. It certainly proves he isn't remorseless for what he did. The guy's basically BEGGING to die.

Anyway, were these lines taken out? Or are they going to be added in a patch? I hope it's the latter.

On a lighter note: I liked that comment where goes, "why in the name of the Maker would I need to train with a sword?" (if he's equipped with a sword) LOL, Anders, LOL. I kind of wish Merrill/Bethany/Anders were allowed to carry swords. Like, if they had the proper amount of Constitution and Strength points to equip them. Makes me bitter about the removal of the Arcane Warrior class.

Seriously, my Anders-rivalmance playthrough was so depressing that I don't think I can play through Anders's romance on another character again. I was so depressed at one point I had to actually remind myself out loud that it's just a game and it's not real. This is not normal. >_<

Interestingly, there are voice files for all companions to warn about traps/ offer help picking locks. Anders, Merrill, Fenris. I wonder why they needed to record it. Maybe they wanted to do away with all class restrictions at first?
