  • Justice: Even if I knew how, I would not possess the living. Such is an act for demons.
  • Nathaniel: What if the person were willing?
  • Justice: Why would a mortal ever allow such a thing?
  • Nathaniel: For life. For love. Perhaps together, you can do what they cannot do alone. If you gave instead of taking, I would consider you no demon.
  • Justice: It is...something to consider. Thank you, Nathaniel.

yikes, foreshadow much?

The awakening folks are all just a bunch of enablers aren't they  :/

Augh. Justice, why can't you give something other than manic episodes and the ability to glow?

There are so many small things that lead up to the Vengeance mess that it ends up feeling like anyone who ran into Justice or Anders helped make it worse.

ETA: Uh, top? Have an Venganderstice.

I don't know.

I don't know if by finally fighting in this war he can eventually say he "got better." I doubt it.

Justice was always dedicated to fighting injustice. He was the one who first insisted that Anders ought to fight to free his fellows, and some time after Justice had helped avenging Kristoff (or been killed by the WC), he offered Anders his help doing so - if I remember correctly. And bringing Kristoff's killers to justice was something he decided to do after he had helped the people in the Blackmarsh.

I'm not sure if he can ever simply stop now that the ball is rolling. Time to grab the popcorn and watch the show, I guess? :P

or head to Tevinter and search for a way to separate the two... [/InAPerfectWorld]

I know that separating them is impossible and all that, but killing an archdemon without dying was ALSO impossible. Maybe Anders should sleep with Morrigan as well and Justice can go and posses her other baby.

Wow I actually cringed just typing that....

lol, i think i cringed a bit reading it. But she does seem to be an expert on making possessed god-babies... hmm.

Anders and Morrigan sleeping together to make another OGB? What is-? How...? LMAO
Naah, Anders only needs himself. His mere presence forces the laws of nature to bend for him.

All he'd have to do is make those sad pouty eyes at a Tevinter magister, and hey presto, they'd teach him to separate from Justice!

Re: the Rivalmance dialogue THAT would be the right ending to it. Absolutely.

That said... I'm never doing it. Ever. Just thinking about it makes me cry.

This thread likes to make me cry rivers of tears, damnit!

I'm catching up and sobing like an idiot.

And I'm most certainly NEVER rivaling Anders.  Just like I'm never repeating my pro-templar run-through (which turned out more "peace peace peace, okay fine... I have to choose... templars".
Poor Anders.  Oh gawds, poor Anders.  He is so tragic.

Heh. With that ending I might never do anything except for Anders Rivalmance.

That ending is sheer tragedy porn.

I thought you'd changed.

I tried. Justice... Vengeance... He was too strong for me.

{6127568}
Justice once told me that demons are just spirits perverted by their desires.

{6127571}
I made my friend a demon. And he did this.

I forgive you.

But I have proven I cannot. If I couldn't control Vengeance now, I never will.

I WANT THIS CONVERSATION DAMNIT.

*cries*

So epic and beautiful and heartbreaking my rivalrymance!

I WANTS IT.

And yes this has solidifed Ander's rivalrymance in my mind for most epic videogame romance ever. <3

Damn, I went to sleep just before this showed up...
I want it ç_ç
And maybe I can spare him too...OMG, it would be so heartbreaking and epic, and awww...
I don't want to side with the templars, I don't care of that...I just want the proper rivalmance ending...I... *cries* I'm not completing this playthrough 'till we have news. I'll keep repeating these lines in my head with the VA.
It is exactly how I supposed Ander's would feel about Vengeance, with his fear to lose himself, the same exact thing I feared for him too...it's so fitting and tragic... *cries some moar*
Feed on my tears and fix it ç_ç

I think I've just depressed myself at 10:30 in the morning and potentially ruined any possibility for a successful day of writing. What bothers me most is that we DON’T know if he’s going to get worse and “loose himself” completely eventually or if there is hope for him to defeat/separate himself from/learn to control Vengeance. I think this is why I can’t get over the ending and think happy things, it’s the uncertainty of what’s going to happen, and every time I read something that suggests Anders is just disappearing I want to crawl under my bed and cry.

Is it weird that the whole Anders thing affects me so much?

And this is why despite knowing that the friendship path aids and abets Anders' crazy, I just can't bring myself to do the rivalry path. He needs HUGS, DAMNIT. HUGS. I've just about all the tragedy I can take with the friendship path--the rivalry path would just break me. I'm so weak in the face of those sad pouty eyes.

There needs to be a "Hug Anders" mod. Along with a "Punch Anders" mod. Can't decide which would see more use in my playthrough.

Reading the lines of text from the bugged rival path, I am leaning more towards it, but I am still on the fence about the siding with the templars part.
I do need to hear more dialogue.

@Ninche and Everyone, someone said there was dialogue saying that he says Justice is gone after the bombing (on friendship path, obviously, given what happens on the rivalry path). Is this true? If so, how do we get it?

So this was like ages ago... but it bothered me so during my ending I kept a tally of blood mages/circle mages.
I was siding with mages and I cannot remember too too much from my templar ending a week ago due to utter shame and gritting of teeth "must get through this, must". Just because a character feels natural to do something doesn't mean I, as the player, find any enthusiasm to do it.

So here are the number.
1 girl from the circle tells templars to GTFO and then turns into a demon
6 circle mages in lowtown fighting templars and they do not turn nor use blood magic
1-2 blood mages at the docks, with a ****-ton of demons and such [I couldn't tell cause I was too busy fighting the big pride freaking demon]
all mages in the courtyard get killed by templars and none resort to blood magic [they should have, cause they had zero hope wowza]
templars attack and a ton of mages end up dead on the floor -> Orsino uses their bodies to become douchebag number 2 in the game. the mages did not kill themselves for this or anything, they were killed during the battle with templars.
templars run like little scared children when Orsino becomes the ugliest abomination ever, to rival even the broodmother (ick). Oh yeah, pansies, let me fight the big cornered supermage. blah

That was the complete tally. None of the mages in the gallows resorted to blood magic during the pro-mage run.
I'm not redoing the pro-templar run, I'd be curious to see the exact difference in numbers of blood mages/circle mages that don't use blood magic nor turn into demons.

And I must say, these people have it way too easy with the summoning of damn demons. It used to take a lot of study and a pretty darn powerful mage to do it. Demons are a dime a dozen in Kirkwall, jeebus.

Anders did say that mage after mage in Kirkwall started to turn to blood magic because "it's easy."

Why someone would start self mutilation is beyond me; I get squeamish with a knife or anything sharp anywhere near my wrists, which seems to be the most popular cutting area of choice. Not phobia creeped out, but just... Ugh.

Um... the author of The Picture: Image IPB

is doing a commission for me of my Saoirse Hawke and Anders being revolutionaries together. It's a WIP at the moment but I AM SO EXCITE I have to link to it:

HERE

I am so absurdly addicted to fanart commissions. I probably need to go to some sort of club or something.

Oh yeah, it IS easy.
Merrill properly specced in blood magic against templar lieutenant = oh, what, you can't even concentrate enough to do anything? poor templar
Mage Hawke with any of the specs other than blood mage = HOLY ****, what.. I don't even... resist petrify? resist crushing prison? ignore glyph of paralysis completely? OH for crying out loud, Fenris just kill the SOB already! arg.

Blood mage Hawke against Meredith - oh, you stole all my mana? MUAHAHA joke is on you, I use my health for mana! And how about I steal some of YOUR health while you stand there immobilized for a couple seconds? Yes? Nice eh?
Normal mage Hawke against Meredith - oh come on now, the potion time has barely started, gawd damn it! Thank gawd for my huge array of OTHER potions. And meanwhile I'm chugging potions instead of killing her.

Also, Bioware pooped over their own lore. I love them, but really.
The entire discussion on how blood magic was supposed to be the only one purely non-dependent on spirits and demons because you're using your own health rather than mana or spirits... contrasting with healing which by the name should be a dead give-away... it's called SPIRIT healing, revolves around using beneficial spirits, which is the most dangerous of magic arts.

And what does Anders say in DA2? **** about how in order to practice blood magic you must make a deal with a demon, blah blah blah. Boo.

@ DeaHamlet He actually qualifies that a bit later on. There's a dialogue with Merrill where he says she must have discovered blood magic by accident, by cutting herself and realising the power. So it seems it's possible to discover the "blood as mana" thing by accident, but the more complex spells like mind-control and blood wound and such probably come from dealing with demons.

This would also explain why GIANT WOOBIE Jowan manages to learn blood magic but then CANNOT CAST ANY BLOOD MAGIC SPELLS in the fade when you send him there.

Blood Magic felt much more "DUN DO IT IT'S EVIL" "LOL OKAY!" and a bit more.... intimidating(I dont know if that's the right word here) in lore in DA:O. Now?

"Oh. Another blood mage? Well, sh*t. 3rd one today. Who's turn is this time?"

But the easy access to it makes it scarier to me in the second game, gameplay annoyances aside. But Kirkwall is still Hellmouth.

I definitely at least partly blame my Wardens, they were all "THE MORTAL REALM IS RAD, IT'S FINE IF YOU THINK SO." My bad, I guess. I also blame Nathaniel for opening his BIG FAT MOUTH. But it's hard to stay mad at him. So let's stick to blaming my wardens. They're tough, they can take it.

EDIT: Also, Jowan couldn't cast blood magic spells in the Fade because Jowan is the worst mage in the history of maging. Such a useless dork.

Hellmouth to the max. I mean, I gotta wonder why demons there even bother trying to get into mage's pants.
They can just freaking manifest at will.
It used to be such work to get demons to manifest, previous evil mages must be seething with envy looking at the whole thing. Oh yeah, I study for YEARS how to summon a demon, and these bastards just stumble into it and call forth an entire army including baddie-mcbaddie pride demons? NOT FAIR. lolz

Whatever happened to spells that steal another mage's mana? They're gone, all we get is "oh, blood mage steal their health to use for mana". Boo.
I don't know why a spell to steal mana doesn't require demon deals, but stealing health does. But then again... gameplay versus story, I guess, since in general nothing seems all that threatening to Hawke in the end. She gets resurrected so many times, I'm surprised nobody calls her the walking dead :P.

And what about Anders himself? In Awakening you can give him blood mage spec (I would never, that's so evil!)... does that mean her made some deal with a demon then?
Or... omg... is the warden a demon? :P

Anders is cute but sometimes what he says is so confusing. From how he cannot make up his mind if Justice and him are one (and not even the greatest of scholars can tell them apart, umpf)... or separate with disagreeing thoughts (oh sex, it's such a divisive topic lol)... and all the stuff about mages, and blood mages, and demons... I'm fairly certain even a blood mage would be terrified at the thought of becoming a demon because that means they don't exist anymore. Demons don't seem to do things half-way... they just take over. So confusing!

Ohh please please let it exist! If it does - let's find it! I honestly feel like I could not find peace until I have a clear idea of what's going on with Hawke and Anders. Flemeth told us in the beginning: Without an end there can be no peace, and I'd like to avoid the kind of ending where I stab my partner of 3 years in the back and watch him die.
