So if you don't distract the cleric for him does that end the romance? As a friend-romance of course I would but I think a rival-romance might not be too sure about that.

It doesn't.  I think he'll get angry at you, but that's about it.

That conversation ends with "I've always been alone. I just forgot it for awhile." So dramatic, our Anders.

Ugh.... My shiny Amell crest for the option to smack him there.

Damnit, Anders! "No" means "cut the emotional blackmail"! Posted Image

Here's something I've been wondering: if you side with the templars at end for whatever reason (say...for the achievement and confession that Orsino knew about Quentin) then what does Anders do? You have to pick before you deal with him. I can't imagine he'd be willing to join you but would he still run off? Make a comment about you being a traitor? Force you to kill him? Maybe show up at the end to fight against you like Fenris will if you side with the mages?

He refuses to join you and you have to kill him or let him go. I believe he shows up in the Gallows to fight you with the mages if you don't kill him. I know you CAN fight him, and that seems like the logical point.

Well, at least he didn't kill himself after that.  If he had to die, he was going to die fighting.  *sigh* I don't know whether to kiss you or kill you, Anders... but I love you all the same.

I think the first time I flirted with him I said, "Oh boy, this is going to be a trainwreck."

And it was, but it was an amazing trainwreck.

I personally liked the fact that you could go with a friendship romance and still yell at him. I would argue with him plenty and yelled at him both over the emotional blackmail and his stunt at the end. So when I let him live I felt like Hawke was clear in saying that she was doing it not because she condoned what he had done but because he had to live with the repercussions/help make things right for the mages.

I dunno, I can't quite explain it. I just like how it worked out so it felt like Hawke was fighting to help the mages and supporting the man she loved without supporting everything he did.

Yeah.  I really liked that, too.  While my Hawke did feel bad that she had to bring everyone along for the ride (heck I wish I had the option to tell Fenris that he could walk away if he wanted to, no hard feelings), but she was finally taking the reigns and now has little time for regrets.

It wa a beautiful disaster and I love it.

Hey Rinji,

The quote in your signature sure resonates a lot deeper now eh? I pretty sure they had the entire story planned out even then.

Yeah.  I think it really was the entire theme of DA2.

I also like what Flemeth says about Morrigan.  I feel less terrible for the DR, now. :D

But... DAMMIT, ANDERS!

Speaking of quotes...Morrigan's echoes everything that Flemeth says to Hawke on Sundermount and back when they first meet.

Without an end, there can be no peace. It gets no easier. Your struggles have only just begun...

We stand upon the precipice of change. The world fears the inevitable plummet into the abyss. Watch for that moment...and when it comes, do not hesitate to leap.

It is only when you fall that you learn whether or not you can fly.

Regret is something I know well. Take care not to cling to it, to hold it so close that it poisons your soul. When the time comes for your regrets, remember me.

To me all those quotes were warnings of what was to come which is obvious but to me the last one on regret seems to be directed specifically towards Hawke and possibly even hinting to Anders as well. That could just be me reading way too much into it though.

I find it funny that Flemeth talks to some of the companions, but not Anders. She has to know what his role will be, and there's other foreshadowing all over the place.

Oh, well. Also, page 50! Needs more Handsome Hobo:

After everything with Anders, the regret line definitely stuck out to my Hawke. Really, for anyone who romanced or was close to Anders it seems rather poignant, but I suppose Hawke has many other regrets. Of all the things to go wrong though, I feel like my Hawke will feel like events with Anders were the most personal and thus the most likely to drive her nuts if she dwells on it too much.

EDIT to add... yes to more handsome hobo!

Then I am reading way too much into it as well xD. Would be great if this really was what they meant.
(I don't even want to know what the devs think when they read out posts... "XD)

I feel the same. Oh he's going to live and see for himself what kind of effect his actions leave on Thedas. And I have a feeling it won't be exactly what he wanted but he'll have to see it with his own eyes. I also have a feeling we're going to have to kill him sometime later because I don't think he can live with/as Justice any longer.

Unless you guys don't mind having Justice as a boyfriend.

 She talked to Anders on my first runthrough. Something about how he would know about spirits and abominations. Wish she'd done it again this time so I would remember-I brought Fenris too and he overrode it with wondering what she was. Don't remember if it was foreshadowing or not with Anders.

I'm probably alone in this but at the end I hated Anders as much as I hated Quentin, probably because I liked the Grand Cleric too much -__-

Hawke being a Blood Mage is flat out ignored. Never gets brought up at any point.

You're not alone, but there's a bunch of varying opinions on this board, as there should be.

She talked to Anders in my game too, but can't remember exactly what she said either...
