I didn't mind the OH GOD I HAVE BEEN ACHING FOR YOU thing because whatever, I am totally hot, I'd ache for me too, it was the suddenly psycho LIVE WITH ME FOREVER UNTIL WE DIEEEEEEE that had me going "wat."

You're right about tastes differing, though. When my husband and I were figuring out our ceremony, the judge gave us a bunch of scripts (for a lack of a better word) from previous marriages he had performed to give us some ideas/guidance/whatever. And without fail, I would be all, "Hahahaha, this one is so CHEESY," and my husband would say, "What?! I thought that one was sweet." Which boggled my mind, because my husband does not really do sentimental 99% of the time.

Epilogue: Our wedding ceremony was a grand total of 8 minutes long. <3

LMAO

That line made me "wat" too. Especially with my rivalmance rogue. He never would've said that. NEVER.

Yeah, I haven't rivalmanced him yet (I'm working through the other romances first, I am in the HOME STRETCH with Isabella, who it turns out is my favorite non-tragic one), but I imagine it's even more "wtf" for one of those.

Ohhhh reading comprehension fail.

I just had an issue with that line because my warriorHawke is so super-violent and pro-templar, that he and Anders probably shouldn't be in a romance, anyway (I just made it so he has a soft spot for Anders). The Hawke I worked so hard to build would NOT say something like, "I want you here until we die". He'd argue with Anders over it for days, before finally moving him in....grudgingly. lol

If the end rivalry scene is bugged, might the rivalry sex scene be bugged as well? I know Merrill and Fenris have different ones, but Anders's seems to be identical on friendship and rivalry.

I hope so. I just got the rival romance scene and seeing that it was exactly the same as the friendly one I just thought "eh what the hell is the point with this then?" How does he go from "I don't know if I should kiss you or kill you" to the sweet, romantic "I love you" - Anders?

Maybe Hawke was really great in the sack?

Everything in the second part of the romance scene is filled with cheese. It makes me cringe, but what can you do? I would've preferred Hawke to answer "Sure dude, you can stay here." instead of the whole "I want you here, until the day we die" *twitch*

Exactly. I really wish there could have been more middle-of-the-road or snarky responses in that scene, other than basically "I love you stay with me until we die" or GTFO.  I mean, you just kissed the dude for the first time earlier day, and all of a sudden things are moving at 90 mph.

I actually think it does a good job of showing Anders' extreme character and obsessive tendencies, but it seems out of character for Hawke.

My first playthrough, the scene freaked me out so much that I couldn't go through with it. I had to reload to a previous save and romance Fenris instead.

Well, in my head my Hawke had been flirting/teasing him for 3 years so understandable if feelings grew like that.
Still though. "I want you here until the day we die." Grrr. I'm not a romantic person at all, and lines like that just makes me cringe.

I seem to recall a variation where he's all WILL YOU TELL EVERYONE YOU LOVE AN APOSTATE, where the ZOMG YES TIL THE DAY WE DIE makes more sense, at least. I think I got that on my nice-guy MageHawke that I sort of let sleep with Anders before reloading. <3

Doesn't he always say that?

He didn't on my first playthrough. He was all, "I LOVE YOU" and she went "I want a sandwich" and he went "haha, you dork" and then sort of nervously asked if it would be cool if he moved in, she went "omg you want to move in? " and he was like "well ... yeah" and she went LIVE WITH ME FOREVER UNTIL WE DIE, and then I, the player, went :?.

I am SO angry with the lack of difference in rivalmance.
WTF? My super-violent Lucius Hawke would not be whispering sweet nothings in Anders' ear. He's a rough-n-tumble pro-templar, who loves Elthina and sticks his tongue out at Anders at least 50 times a conversation.
I WANTED A DYSFUNCTIONAL RELATIONSHIP, DARNIT. :P

I guess the dialogue was written with the diplomatic choice in mind then. I thought it flowed well after the whole "tell the world you love an apostate" line, but I would assume not so much after the sandwich one.

The ONLY way I could justify Margaret saying that is to imagine a wink at the end as she turned and sauntered away, making sure her hips swayed enticingly.  With the... predictable result.

Both? Mostly Anders though since he just got hot and heavy with a person who is "everything he hates"

I imagined my LadyHawke then cracking up two seconds after the fade to black, saying, "Oh Maker, did that sound corny enough? Because that's what you sound like ALL THE TIME."

Already posted my not-so-romantic version, back a bit.
Honestly, I imagined my violentwarriorHawke's relationship with Anders to be unhealthy at the least. I expected Anders to come storming in, nostrils flaring, talking about how he wanted to strangle Hawke. Then Hawke can be like, "Well, then, strangle me. Safe word is "banana". Hold on....why are you clothed?"

You mind if I steal that idea? It is a very good justification.

This.  I still don't like the line, and it WAS a pretty fast move in any relationship... but despite the fact they only had their first kiss earlier that day, I role-play that they'd basically been in a relationship for years at that point.  A chaste relationship, yes (DOH HO HO), but still spending a LOT of time together, being very open about their attraction to each other, and growing very, very close.  So in that case, it isn't as unrealistic of a jump.

Yeah, I sort of figured they'd been in one of those weird "totally dating but neither admits it to themselves" relationships where all their friends are shrieking at them to JUST DO IT ALREADY. Perhaps because that's what my husband and I did for two years.

For one thing it's hard for me to picture Anders bringing up living together so casually in a rivalrymance. Maybe he would play up the "being hunted by templars thing." And for another I could see him pulling away a little from a rivalrymance Hawke (for a short while). Probably disliking the fact that he gave into his passion (not to mention Justice wouldn't be pleased) especially with someone he wants to strangle half the time and argues against his ideas every time they can.

I can't help but think in a rivalry mance Hawke should bring up living together.

With this excellent point made, I change my rivalmance point of view.
It would go like this:

(Anders is getting dressed)
Hawke: So, you enjoy that place in Darktown you live in...that cesspool?
Anders: Sure.
Hawke: Just figured you'd want to live in a place that didn't smell like a brewery.
Anders: You're not talking about here, are you? I think you certainly drink enough, so much that we can safely say your room smells like a brewery.
Hawke: How nice of you.
Anders: You brought it up.
Hawke: :pinched:
