Am I twisted, or is the story?

The story. But it's a really brilliant kind of twisted.

It's interesting that Anders' writer also wrote so many other characters involved in the mage/templar conflict.

ANDERS/CULLEN.

THE WORLD WOULD EXPLODE FROM HOT.

(and yes, I wrote fanfic about it. I am not evil, just... you know... EVIL).

WHAT? WHERE?
Sorry, this is one pairing I've been dying to ship :pinched: I imagine them to be like Greagoir and Irving someday. An old gay couple who like to squabble at each other. That's assuming Cullen gets to keep his head.

And Anders gets to live past 50-60.

>.>

Oh right....I keep forgetting he still has the taint. Damn, I was hoping for another epic lovers' spat in the Circle. There can never be too many of those, especially between Anders/Cullen. They could've been the Circle's next dysfunctional Has Two Mommies.

I like Cullen a lot. He reminds me of Greagoir. And I like Greagoir. He's a decent guy. Far more decent than Irving can be at times.

and, anyways, have a secret kitten. It's like Anders' wet dream. There are kittens within kittens within kittens. The slow kitten penetrates the shield!

Uh. I should get more sleep.

I didn't know it was possible to talk with them about it afterwards until I read about it on the forums. Is it possible talk with them later (still in Act II) even though it's been a while since the mission was done? And now I just had a horrible thought, which doesn't apply to Kaya, but would to some Hawkes. Bethany could be in that Circle. If Hawke and Anders didn't do something, she could have one of the victims.

Oh god, I didn't even think about Bethany.  That just makes me want to murder Alrik again.  Maybe I'll replay Dissent or something.

And yes, you can talk to them as long as you're in Act II, and a major plot event doesn't override the conversation.  For example, if you do Dissent, then do the Offered and Lost quest, I think the option to talk to the Grand Cleric about the misuse of her seal overrides the option to talk to her about Alrik.  I don't think the same problem applies to Cullen.

@Amondra: Well, you did rant   But I totally hear you on the Grand Cleric.  Good intentions only get you so far--at a certain point, not acting to stop the abuses of the templars makes her as good as complicit.

Has anyone else ever gotten a snappy "Do you really need me around for this?" from Anders in Act III? I got it not long after starting the Act, running around and getting all the quests at the time.

Hightown looks pretty in the evening too.

I didn't connect the tranquil solution with Bethany at first either, probably because she died before Kaya reached Kirkwall. ): I think I have a save before Dissent (and most of the Anders scenes) in case I want to watch Kaya kill him again.

That's good, I didn't play Offered and Lost yet. I couldn't put off Prime Suspect because it would have been against Kaya's character for her to ignore that, but I wanted to be completely sure that the romance scene happened before All That Remains. Poor Kaya just wouldn't be in the mood after that.

Yeah Bethany's letter about avoiding templars like Alrik made my Hawkes see red.

Big brother protective instinct went into overload.

She says that in a letter? D: Wow. I knew I would never have a Hawke who sides with the templars (because I don't want to kill my favorite character), but now it'll be hard to play a Hawke who doesn't want to kill most templars. Bethany's big brothers would make Vengeance look like a spirit of kindness in comparison.

In my headcanon, Justice can suppress the taint. Wynne's spirit could bring her back from the dead, so I don't think it's too much of a stretch. (This is also how I see Anders and Hawke having kids.)

It's still extra-bittersweet though, because it means that if Anders did manage to separate himself from Justice someday, the Calling would take him shortly thereafter.

Technically, it is possible for a Warden to have children with a non-Warden, it's just unlikely rather than impossible (as it would be with two Wardens). I think Justice's presence could definitely effect Anders though. If a sword could go through him without leaving a mark when he was in Vengeance mode, I bet he can have children... even if Justice has to help with that.

I got that just tonight! When we ... weren't actually doing anything, so I have no idea why he had a fit. Maybe he was falling behind on his elaborate diorama of the Anders & Hawke Kitten Sanctuary that he thinks we'll build one day.

I was thinking along those lines too. If Justice you make the taint move slower or as long as he is in him put the taint on hold all together.  Like you said Wynne's spirit warded off a bad case of the deads.  I also would like to think in a perfect Thedas that Avernus found a way to master the taint and Anders can be free of Justice, and thus Justice is no longer Vengeance, and Hawe and Anders can live in sweet peace....I want my happy ending...I can't help it I am romantic :(

Oh my goodness, all I could picture was Anders forcing Justice to take control and saying something along the lines of "Take one for the team"  Because Justice wants nothing to do with it and Hawke is like  why couldn't he just have a spirit in him and not taint too?!

Well, my Kaya Hawke loves Justice too, so she would be more like this: Image IPB But if Justice didn't want to participate, she wouldn't make him. She would just be sad if they could never have children. Who knows, maybe if Anders calms down in later years, since Justice did accomplish the most important part of his mission already, he'll start to be a little more like Awakenings Justice and curious about love again.

A happy ending? Who'd want that?

I thought the point of liking Anders would be knowing that one day, when your Hawke is only middle aged, their man will start really losing that always-known-to-be-futile battle to the Taint and wind up in the dark, alone but for the monsters that kill them. And that's only if he gets to live that long. He might end up drawn and quartered far earlier. Or make you kill him. Thought the guarenteed unhappy ending was the point.

I mean, that's why I got into the Anders liking business. That, and cats. I like cats.

Yeah she mentions some of the templars abuses and how she's avoiding them. I believe she mentions Alrik by name. I have to check to make sure though.

And yeah Vengeance don't got nothin' on big bro Hawke. I have to GW her if I'm gonna side with the templars. (Or play a mage).

And oh god I want my angsty rivalrymance ending. "I love you Anders. I'll always love you." :crying:

I think we all want some of old Anders back. even though I did like that he wasn't Alistair 2.0, but did they have to go so far?

I don't want old Anders back. I disliked old Anders strongly.

That was probably because he just pushed all the wrong buttons and I was already irked I didn't get my Origin companions. Having him forced in my party (I wanted a mage and that b**** Velanna was just a NO.) did not endear me to him.
