I must be doing it wrong.
Well, he WAS a total prude beforehand. Methinks it's gone to his heads.

Only if they are extremely repressed prudes

I think it works both ways. In Origins, the only way to become a blood mage is to make a deal with a demon. In Awakening, the Warden can buy a book that opens up the blood mage specialization. Maybe those who make deals with demons gain instant knowledge and power, and those who study from books need to learn gradually. I didn't see Jowan as the type to deal with demons either. My Kane Amell did. Kaya wouldn't, but she will learn blood magic later on. After her mother is killed by a blood mage, she wants to use the enemy's weapon against them, and she realizes that it is a powerful weapon. Possibly even powerful enough to raise the dead.Sable Rhapsody wrote...
The game's never straight on whether you need to bargain with a demon to use blood magic. Anders seems to imply that you can cut yourself and just learn to tap into blood when he talks to Merrill, but then he does a 180 talking to Fenris about how blood mages have to bargain with demons for their powers.
Since Irving leaves books on blood magic lying around in the Circle, and I highly doubt Jowan has the cajones to strike a deal with a demon, I'm inclined to think that you CAN learn blood magic without consulting a demon--either from another blood mage, from books, or just from experimenting. I figure my blood mage probably learned it after Malcolm died, to help protect her family, and just realized she was really good at it.

AH. That explains it. I cannot stand prudes so I have never *thankfully* had that experience.
Completely OFF topic. I love your Fenris icon.

I gotta wonder, maybe the reason rivalmance Hawke doesn't kill Anders is because she/he is addicted to the awesome sexytimes and nobody else would do?

Must be.
I imagine my male Hawke (warrior) and Anders' relationship as totally dysfunctional. And since Anders spends most of his time sneering at him and telling him he wants to wring his neck, I'd imagine that anger in the bedroom is what keeps the relationship....alive.

Yeah, specially after when he says that you choose the option to have some fun..

Guys, Anders was scheming to move in with Hawke the entire time! Right before the kiss scene, I clicked on him and he said "Maybe I should find a nicer place..."
Devious, devious Anders.

I love to look at it like that: manipulative Anders is using Hawke for a place of residence, political protection, physical protection, and assistance with his devious plots. All he has to do is spout some romantic crap now and then and put out, and he's left alone to work on his manifesto. Plot plot plot.

I have to admit, my Hawke and Anders do have a very strong Lady and the Tramp vibe going on. She's this beautiful, classy, elegant Hightown Amell scion, and he's a scruffy apostate revolutionary running a clinic in the sewers. TWUE RUV <3

This must be the reason why Justice puts up with their relationship. (Aside from the fact that he secretly loves friendmance Hawke. xD)Threeparts wrote...

I always imagine my Hawke and Anders working together in the clinic. She's a spirit healer afterall.
Then again, my mage for Anders is totally a hothead revolutionary herself all about helping the needy and the poor (and rescuing mages... okay, and maybe killing many people in the process)
